The Tyrant Wants To Live Honestly

Soon, Ethan’s golden eyes narrowed.

At that time, the doctor who had finished talking with Carnan came and called Theon.

In the absence of Raymond, there seems to be something to take precautions.

Theon looked at Ethan for a moment.

“Don’t worry, because I’m careful not to do anything that will be hated by the princess… I will take good care of the Crown Prince.”

Ethan grinned, and Theon followed the doctor.

Then, strangely, only the two of them, Raymond and Ethan, were left in the room.

“Hey, Ethan…Did you say Bronte? Were you close with me?”

Raymond looked at Ethan and asked.

Then Ethan quietly looked down at Raymond.

Raymond’s eyebrows narrowed slightly as Ethan’s golden eyes looked at him.

“You had a bad relationship with me…?”

“I don’t know. Do you think you were close to me? Or do you think it was a bad relationship?”

“I don’t remember at all.”

Raymond, who wrinkled his brow as if trying to remember for a moment, shook his head and answered.

Then Ethan smirked.

“It is quite impressive that Your Highness has ever done this, but you must be a little more delicate and thorough to do it.”

“What?”

The corners of Ethan’s mouth slowly turned up at Raymond’s question.

“You should be more precise with your lies, Your Highness.”

“What are you talking about…?”

“Dorothy.”

Ethan whispered, bending down slightly so he was eye level with Raymond on the bed.

“No one calls Princess Dorothea like that…. Except for you.”

Ethan’s voice, like the wind, shuddered Raymond’s spine. Raymond’s blue eyes trembled.

“Please come back and tell me your story, Dorothy.”

What Raymond just said to Dorothea.

But after he woke up, no one called Dorothea by the nickname Dorothy.

Until now, only Raymond had called Dorothea by the nickname Dorothy.

If he has lost his memory, Dorothea is like a first-timer to him. It doesn’t make sense to call her by a nickname as soon as he meets her.

“Habits are scary.”

Ray called her Dorothy every day, so a familiar nickname popped up involuntarily.

However, neither Theon nor Dorothea seemed to feel strange because the nickname was familiar.

Besides, there would be no circumstances, so they wouldn’t have to think about such complicated things.

But it wasn’t Ethan.

“Oh, and one more thing. I find it very annoying that you call the princess pretty, but you don’t call me handsome.”

Everyone admired Ethan’s good looks.

Ethan almost felt a little self-conscious. But he understood now. It was Raymond’s natural reaction to Dorothea’s beauty, but not his.

Ethan slowly opened his mouth as he walked around the bed Raymond was sitting on.

“Did you even plan all of this?”

He still had doubts about the sudden occurrence of a horse accident that had never happened before his return.

Even though many things have changed with Dorothea and Ethan, it is strange that Raymond, who is more confident in horseback riding, suddenly falls off the hunting ground.

Then Raymond’s expression slowly hardened.

“you…It’s really not that common.”

“You are exaggerating, Your Majesty.”

Ethan bowed at him. It was as if he was responding to Raymond’s immature acting.

“Then, as a reward for discovering your Majesty’s secret, will you tell me why you started this bold and dangerous play?”

Ethan slowly raised his gaze.

Then Raymond opened his mouth.

“I will hand over the throne to Dorothea.”

Ethan’s eyes tremble at his words.

“Dorothea has what it takes to be an emperor. more than I.”

“Was it something you have discussed with The Princess?”

“Dorothea doesn’t know about it.”

“So you knew that if you spoke up, the princess would say no.”

“Dorothea always tries to hide herself. certainly… Even though she has the ability to threaten the throne.”

Historically, it is rare for a capable second to leave the succession of the first unattended.

So Dorothea could be angry at her injustice.

Besides, Dorothea’s Spirit Skills are now stronger than Raymond’s.

Still, Dorothea always seemed cautious.

“Dorothea is afraid to fight me because she doesn’t want the empire to fall into chaos.”

Raymond laughed bitterly, thinking that he is a terribly kind brother for Dorothea.

Ethan bit his lip as if thinking about something, then asked a question.

“Would The Princess want it?”

He asked that question for himself too.

To make Dorothea the rightful Emperor. It was a grand dream she had since she returned. So, in her heart, she wanted to hold hands with Raymond.

But Dorothea is traumatized. Her memories before her return hold her ankles.

And Ethan was the only one who knew how painful it was for her.

He knew how long it took to heal the wound.

Dorothea was only now barely surrendering herself to peace and was building a happy daily life.

There was never a more stable period in her life than now, although she sometimes felt frustrated that she had to keep her mouth shut at meetings.

But can he push her to walk the path of the emperor again? when he knows her pain best.

Ethan clenched his fists, and Raymond, watching him and opened his mouth.

“I know. Every time Dorothea talked about the affairs of the Empire, her eyes glowed. The way she smiles when she sees the Empire getting better, little by little.”

Raymond remembered Dorothea, who had come to him for political discussions.

For him, the throne problems of the Empire are burdensome and painful. Still, Dorothea was a person who knew how to enjoy the process of trying to solve them.

She smiles when she sees the Empire even slightly better.

When Raymond looked at Dorothea like that, his mouth was bitter.

He felt as if he had become a chain that bound her.

‘If it weren’t for me, the incompetent, pathetic, Dorothea wouldn’t be so withdrawn….’

He has such a perfect little sister. Is it right for him to be the Emperor instead of Dorothea?

A place that doesn’t suit each other. Tragedy of reversed fate.

He wanted to put it back in its place.

So he found a way to transfer power to Dorothea peacefully and naturally.

Just declaring that Dorothea will inherit The Crown Prince’s seat is not enough.

Raymond lost his legitimacy and ability to succeed to the throne and had to make sure that everyone recognized Dorothea.

So Raymond drilled a hole in himself.

Carnan will not hand over the throne to a fool who can’t remember anything.

“You know, don’t you? Dorothea has a political desire.”

Raymond looked up at him, his eyes clear, as if he already knew Ethan’s mind.

Then Ethan’s eyes rippled again. Ethan knew Dorothea well.

Dorothea is a person who is naturally fit for power. She likes things like that, and she shines when she does things like that.

Knowing that Raymond was putting on a play but didn’t bring it up until everyone had left, indicates that he wanted Ethan to come along.

“I believe in Dorothea.”

If Dorothea did not want the crown prince’s seat and was truly tormented, Raymond would be happy to put the burden back on himself.

But Dorothea is strong.

It may be confusing, and the weight that the Crown Prince has to bear may be heavy, but Dorothea is a person who can overcome it.

So Raymond believed her.

“….”

Ethan met Raymond’s unshakable eyes.

He was waiting for Ethan’s answer.

Ethan burst out into a laugh in front of his clear blue eyes, who truly believed in Dorothea.

How could he argue?

It was Ethan Bronte who had believed in Dorothea the longest and most desperately. He knows Dorothea’s passion and her talent better than anyone else.

“If the princess is having a hard time, I will tell the princess right away.”

Ethan finally turned his head.

His desire has been helplessly succumbing to Raymond’s persuasion.

Raymond thought as he looked at Ethan with his mouth shut.

‘You really love Dorothy, Ethan Bronte.’

Throughout the conversation with him, Ethan put Dorothea first. All for Dorothea.

Raymond was a little grateful that someone like Ethan had to be with Dorothea.

Carnan took a deep breath and washed his face dry. Dorothea too, was forced to hold back her urge to sigh.

The doctor couldn’t predict when Raymond’s memory would return.

In this state, Raymond cannot perform the duties of the Crown Prince.

“As I said earlier, you have to handle Raymond’s work for now.”

“Yes, Your Majesty.”

Dorothea’s answer fell heavily.

Raymond would be the one who would have to show his face in case rumors of his health were to circulate, but it would be difficult for him to handle the work.

So, part of that work must be shared with Dorothea.

“I don’t know how long Raymond’s condition will last, but we must also consider the long-term situation. Build your position up, Dorothea.”

“But if the Crown Prince regains his memory…”

“It doesn’t make a big difference if you touch the government a little bit. Then Raymond will do his job again.”

“Yes, Your Majesty.”

Dorothea’s head turned toward the ground.

Still, she was confused. But, as Carnan always does, he wasn’t given her choice.

As a replacement for Raymond, she only needs to handle the Crown Prince’s duties.

‘okay…It’s just temporary. Raymond will be back soon.’

It should be comforting that he wasn’t dead.

‘If Raymond hadn’t woken up, something worse would have happened…’

“Theon Fried, Raymond’s aide, will help you adjust to the job.”

“Theon…?” Dorothea asked.

Aaaand we’re back to where none of the males in this story allow Dorothea to make her own choice…I’m sure both Raymond and Ethan think they are putting Dorothea first, but they’re actually still just making her a puppet for their own desires…her taking a position of power only means something if she herself chooses it, otherwise it’s just manipulation again…

    1. LadyP7 says:

Actually, Ethan is giving her a choice. He knows she has some desire to be emperor. he is allowing her to experience the responsibility again without the guilt. If she still doesn’t want it he will tell her about Raymond faking his memory loss. Like Raymond said, Ethan really does love her.

      1. Eh... says:

You’re actually making my point for me…Ethan is not giving her a choice because he is the one deciding whether or not she wants it based on his supposed understanding of her, not allowing her to decide on her own, of her own initiative, with all the necessary information…he and Raymond are the only ones with the vital information that would make it a genuine choice…I still don’t know that Ethan “loves” her, I still feel like Ethan loves the IDEA of himself being in love with her…If Ethan is deciding what Dorothea knows, understanding that certain information will definitely influence her decision, is he even giving her a choice? Also, I think Dorothea’s guilt is vital to actually taking the responsibility; if Ethan deprives her of that voluntary choice to take power herself despite the guilt, and instead just lets it be involuntarily thrust upon her, he is denying her the opportunity to grow…

No she is scared but her desire to shape the empire is still there so he wanted her to try and if she wants she can train Raymond again he is alive just lost memory any case so Ethan gave opening to her dreams it’s her choice to complete or not

I had a feeling something fishy was going on when they mentioned Raymond was really skilled at riding, that either someone had plotted something or that he was gonna play the “I’m incapable of holding the throne now” card
