Chapter 169
“Fortunately, it seems she’s breathing again.”
Upon hearing the news that Helena’s breathing had returned, the physicians looked as though they had witnessed a miracle. The chances of her survival in this treatment were that slim.
“Her body temperature will gradually stabilize, and her breathing is also steady now.”
“Has all the poison been removed from her body?”
“Yes, it has. Now, she just needs to take medication to help with blood production and support her body as she slowly recovers.”
Soon after, Helena regained consciousness. However, she seemed dazed, almost like a somnambulist. She kept staring at the ceiling, as though still dreaming, and appeared somewhat confused.
When Caligo called her name, she would look at him and occasionally respond briefly, but then fall back into a deep sleep, waking up and sleeping again.
Fortunately, the physician said there was no cause for major concern. Since she had taken sedatives, there was still a lingering effect of the medication, and the physician believed her dazed state was simply due to fatigue from the treatment process.
“Huhh…”
“Helena!”
At this point, the twins entered the room. Despite being told to wait, they had been loitering nearby and noticed the atmosphere around the house, which prompted them to rush in. The twins, believing that Helena had died, ran to her and began crying loudly.
“Is she really dead?”
“I can’t believe it!”
The children, with tears and snot dripping, sobbed uncontrollably. Meanwhile, Helena appeared to have noticed the commotion and opened her eyes. However, the twins were too busy crying to notice.
“Helena! Helena!”
“We can’t just leave her like this! Please wake up!”
Joshua, still convinced she was dead, continued to speak to her, but then their eyes met.
“Aaaah!”
“What the… Why are you—Ugh!”
When the twins made eye contact with Helena, they immediately collapsed to the floor in shock.
“Ah! Helena opened her eyes!”
“I told you to wake up, and she really did!”
“Can dead people open their eyes?”
“That can’t be possible!”
At that moment, Helena slightly parted her lips, as if she wanted to speak. The twins, not realizing she had awakened, leaned closer, listening intently. What did she say?
“You told me to wake up.”
“You told me to open my eyes, so I did. Why is it so noisy now?”
Even in her dazed state, Helena murmured, letting out a faint laugh.
“It really is Helena.”
Her response was flat and indifferent. But the twins finally realized that she was indeed alive.
“It’s really Helena!”
“…Of course it’s me. Who else would it be?”
With her sarcastic reply, the twins once again burst into tears, embracing her tightly.
“Helena!”
“We were so worried!”
“I thought my heart was burning while waiting for you. It hurt so much!”
“Did it?” Helena chuckled at Jeremy’s cute grumble.
It was thanks to the twins that her consciousness had fully returned.
“Are you really okay now?”
“Are you completely healed?”
At the twins’ words, Helena hesitated, unsure how to answer. The truth was, even she didn’t know the answer to that.
So, Helena turned to look at Caligo, who was standing against the wall.
“Um…”
She asked in a trembling voice.
“Am I… alive?”
Both Helena and the twins held their breath, waiting for his answer. Then, Caligo slowly nodded.
“…Yes.”
His brief response caused Helena’s eyes to widen in disbelief.
“Will I never die now?”
“Yes.” With a confident reply from Caligo, the twins cheered loudly.
“Yay!”
“Helena won’t be in pain anymore!”
“Congratulations, Helena! We’re so happy for you!”
The twins began dancing with joy on the bed, and at last, Helena was able to smile brightly.
“Wow…”
She muttered in a dazed voice.
“I’m happy too.”
She had thought she had accepted death, but now, she realized it wasn’t the end. She really wanted to live.
Why did it feel so overwhelming, so full of joy, to know that she could live again?
“I’m so happy.”
Helena whispered.
“Now, I don’t have to be in pain anymore!”
“It’s not about pain; now we can live happily!”
She was happy. Just knowing that she wasn’t alone when she opened her eyes made her incredibly happy. She was happy to see Caligo there, as if it was the most natural thing. She was happy to hear the twins, including herself, talking about the future. She was so happy that tears almost welled up.
“So, what should we do from now on? Now that you’re healthy, what do you want to do?”
“I want to go on a trip with Helena. We’ve already seen the sea, so… how about a boat ride?”
“That sounds good! Let’s visit another continent beyond the great ocean! Although I haven’t been there myself.”
“We’ll be together 24/7.”
“I won’t be greedy and try to monopolize you.”
“24 hours sounds okay!”
Now, she didn’t have to be alone anymore. She no longer had to accept being abandoned, nor did she need to give up in resignation.

Of course, the twins’ grand plans would have to be postponed. Fortunately, the poison had been removed from Helena’s body, but she was still in poor condition.
The lost blood would slowly replenish over time, but her nerves and muscles were still a problem. It would take a lot of time to recover the nerves and muscles that had been unused for so long. Although she had improved, it was still difficult for her to move her fingers delicately or walk easily.
The physician compared her condition to that of a newborn, saying that it would take time and effort for her body to return to its previous state. Additionally, her immune system was greatly weakened, so she needed to avoid excessive exercise or long trips.
“That’s fine. I’ll take good care of you!”
The twins took care of Helena with the utmost devotion. Actually, it was more like “overprotecting” her. They would ask her what she needed before she even had a chance to say anything, and the warmest place in the house was always hers. Whenever food was brought out, she was the first to taste it, and someone always made sure to cover her with a blanket or outerwear.
Jeremy especially enjoyed spending time with Helena, but those moments were short-lived. The news of Helena’s treatment spread throughout the village.
People who didn’t know her identity speculated about which family she might belong to after seeing the physicians and knights visiting her house. Anyway, her identity wasn’t important. Helena was a kind lady who cared for the village children. The villagers, happy to hear that she had recovered, brought gifts like food.
“Oh my, why are you giving me all this?”
“When you’re sick, you need to eat a lot to recover quickly.”
Anyone who had ever left their children in Helena’s care visited her to congratulate her on her recovery. As a result, Helena’s house was always full of visitors. Day after day, villagers came to give their congratulations. Helena often found herself lying in the living room rather than her bedroom.
Pedro and the other knights seemed to find it fascinating how popular Helena was among the villagers. However, there were some who weren’t so pleased by this attention.
“Why are you so popular?! What the heck!”
Jeremy, frustrated with the local children and villagers, muttered in annoyance.
“Am I popular? Me?”
Helena, knowing her shy personality, had always thought the word “popular” was something completely unrelated to her.
“Yes, totally!”
“Are you mad? Do you not want the others to come over?”
Helena seemed to pause for a moment as if recalling something.
“Do you want me to say that I’m yours again?”
“Yikes!”
Jeremy flushed bright red as she brought up something he had said in the past.
Of course, Jeremy had learned from Joshua that trying to possess someone was wrong, no matter how precious they were. He had been told repeatedly that it wasn’t acceptable to act jealous in front of others.
“It’s not like that anymore…”
Jeremy hesitated before suddenly shouting.
“Hey! You’re mine! Mine! All of you, from head to toe, are mine!”
“…Huh?”
“Don’t let the kids come over! Don’t let the villagers come over! Just focus on me and me alone! Don’t look at anyone else!”
“…”
“Why should I give you up just because of what other people think? I won’t give up on you, never!”
Helena was taken aback by Jeremy’s fierce attitude, her mouth slightly open.
“Just give up. I’ll stick to you like a tick, and I won’t ever leave you. Got it?”
“…Huh? Uh…”
“Fine, that’s all I have to say.”
Jeremy snorted and left.

Thanks Alina!
Glad Helena is happy to be alive, awake, and recovering. Hoping Jeremy grows up a bit soon.
Pleasure is all mine dear. Yeah hope so too ✨
As much as I like Jeremy, he behaves more like a 5-year-old than a 13-year-old child. It’s rather annoying that he hasn’t matured much at all.
1000% agree
Thank you for the chapter 🤍

Agora o Joshua me surpreendeu muito. Ele praticamente salvou a obra.
