The Duke and Duchess' Divorce Circumstances

CHAPTER 008: Contract completed

A person Taylor did not expect arrived at Ruivan’s mansion. The eldest daughter of an oil magnate in Lytham, a socialite…

‘Was it Ray Alexis Leanello? Why on earth is she in Ruivan Manor?’

She was standing alone in front of the mansion, without any maid or servant accompanying her.

“What brings you to Ruivan Manor, Lady Leanello?”

“Please let Ramiel know I am here. Ramiel will know why.”

What happened during his absence of just a week? There would be no contact whatsoever between Ramiel and Ray Alexis. There was nothing that Ruivan did that he could not understand. Even if he was on vacation, news from the mansion was reported to him as a matter of course. But there was no report about Leanello for a week.

“Uh? She came?”

Kreha, who was wandering around the mansion, saw Ray and approached him with a knowing look.

“Yes, you are here. Oh my, what happened?”

Ray asked in surprise as he looked at Kreha’s face, but he answered as if it was no big deal.

“Nothing happened.”

“Is it so?”

When Taylor saw Ray responding to Kreha’s greeting, he felt like something hit his head.

‘It’s because of this bastard that the report wasn’t made! Because he probably didn’t tell the mansion’s assistant administrator!’

The master and Kreha have been doing something related to Ray Alexis for the past week.

‘The only big event last week was the grand banquet. Could it be that something happened there? No, if that were the case, there’s no way I wouldn’t have known.’

Taylor’s head was spinning, but no matter how much she thought about it, she couldn’t even guess what was going on.

“Taylor, this is real. It’s true that Ramiel called her!”

“…this? Could it be that ‘this’ refers to me?”

When Ray asked with a cold smile, Kreha laughed ‘wahaha’ and explained that he was referring to ‘this situation.’

‘I see you two have met before.’

Taylor really regretted his week off. Why wasn’t even the butler at the mansion? If he had had Willpoff, who was stricter and followed the rules than he was, this wouldn’t have happened.

‘No, this is what happened.’

Nothing has happened yet. It won’t be a big deal.

“Is this your first time seeing this lady, Taylor?”

Ah, he hated this. This wild horse kid was acting like he knew a lot. Look at those eyes that say, ‘You don’t know, right?’

“You will see a lot from now on.”

At the remark that put so much force on his shoulders, Taylor’s forehead stood out without even realizing it.

“Oh, that’s unfortunate.”

“Huh?”

He just hid it in his mind and didn’t say it out loud. For a moment, Taylor thought that the voice of his heart had escaped him, but when the young lady across from him made eye contact with him, he grinned. It was the moment when the Witch of Ravidon, who had a bad reputation, scored points for Taylor for the first time.

* * *

The contract that Ramiel presented was so detailed that it was unbelievable that it had been written in just two days.

“This contract shall be kept confidential except by the parties involved.”

“Other than that, just pretend to be a good couple. A certain amount of physical contact is also permitted when necessary.”

“We will announce our marriage within a month from the date of signing the contract and live as a couple for one year.”

“Everything Ray Alexis will need to live as Mrs. Ruivan will be provided by Ruivan.”

“Never fall in love with someone.”

“In case of breach of contract, the responsible party shall pay double the contract completion fee to the other party.”

…The same thing was written in the contract.

Ray read it carefully and signed at the end. The contract, which almost fell through due to the recent informal speaking incident, was agreed to be from 10 to 15 robes as the completion fee. In Korea, a word could mean 1,000 words, but in this case it was like saying 5 words with just one. It was said that only the two parties knew the details of this contract, but there were a total of five people who knew the conclusion that they agreed to break up after the contract period. Taylor, the administrator, Wilpoff, the head butler, and Kreha, the leader of the Knights of Ruivan, whom Ray still knew as the coachman.

“Are you saying that everything else is for us to be seen as a loving couple?”

Ramiel nodded his head once.

“Then, Ramiel, please take care of yourself for the next year.”

“Me too. By the way, young lady.”

“Yes.”

“Why did you come alone?”

“I thought it would be better for no one to know until the contract was confirmed, so I made every effort to ensure security.”

It was an action that took into account the possibility that something might go wrong like last time. The contract didn’t work out, but if she was seen meeting someone from the Ruivan family, it was clear that the Leanello family would be in trouble. After Ramiel’s visit, the Leanello family was turned upside down. Ray managed to get away with the excuse that she was rude at the party and came to apologize, but she was even banned from going out for making a mistake in ‘manners class.’

Even now, people in Leanello only thought that Ray was sleeping in bed. She really came secretly.

“But it was a choice that might have put the lady’s life in danger. If something goes wrong with the lady, I will have to do this troublesome thing again.”

A devilish sound came out of the angel’s mouth. It’s not ‘I’m worried about safety’, but ‘annoyance’ that comes first. The world was being deceived by this angel. This was a person who looked fine on the outside, but was dark and mean on the inside.

‘Ugh. How can you blame nature? It’s my fault for being deceived into signing a contract. Well, he’s not my husband anyway. A year goes by quickly.’

It may have been a big shock to other people, but Ray’s shock wave wasn’t that big because he had never experienced Ramiel’s angelic and friendly side other than his appearance.

“Yes. Ramiel, be careful not to cause trouble.”

“Now that the contract is done, I will take you home when you return home.”

“Thank you so much for that.”

Ramiel couldn’t help but laugh at the sarcastic tone he had never heard from anyone. He was never tolerant of anyone who challenged him. But what could he say about Ray Alexis now?

‘Squirrel or kitten? Or is it a puppy?’

He laughed because it seemed like a small, weak animal whose presence could not be read, and who would not be a threat even if it showed its teeth, purring. Of course, he was not a person who found small animals cute, but it was funny to see the contractor in front of him growling and losing his temper.

“But Lord Ramiel. Shouldn’t we change our names too? Lord Ramiel, Lady Ray Alexis. No matter who hears this, it’s completely unfamiliar.”

Ramiel slightly nodded his head at Ray Alexis’ opinion.

“We are an aristocratic couple filled with love who will never be seen again in Lytham, so let’s start by clearing up our titles. Lord Ramiel, please call me Ray from now on.”

“Don’t they usually call you Alex?”

“That’s right. But this is a nickname only my family uses.”

“Of course.”

“What should I call you, Lord Ramiel? Can I just call you Ramiel?”

Silence fell.

“Maybe it would be better to come up with a nickname… Well, then, um, Rami?”

A heavier silence fell.

“Should I just call you by your cute final name? No, this doesn’t feel right.”

Ramiel looked at Ray in silence, who was mumbling and making up various titles using his own name. He was going to tell her to just call him by his name because he wouldn’t like it no matter what she said, but Ray smiled and called him, saying she had found it.

“Rael.”

All his movements stopped at the unexpected name.

“I’ll call you Rael.”

“Where did you hear that?”

“W-what?”

Ray seemed a little scared by the suddenly cold atmosphere. But Ramiel had to take a deep breath to calm his churning stomach.

“That name.”

It was a name he heard a long time ago.

“Rael, baby.”

The beautiful face that resembled Ramiel was lifeless. She looked sad even when she smiled, and had a gentle appearance that made her look like she’s going to burst into tears if you even touched her.

‘Rael’ was the childhood name his mother used to call him a long time ago. It was also a childhood name that she only called when the two of them were alone.
