The Dead Villainess Had A Child With The Male Lead

DVHMLC Chapter 45

Chapter 45 The Duties Of An Aide

Windler was very confused: Killion, behind the pillar, shuffling his feet, unable to do this or that!

It was an unbelievable sight to behold.

Killion was a god of battle.

It is no exaggeration to say that every battle he led was won, and he was a great warrior who found it easy to slit the throat of an enemy leader.

But that was not all.

Killion was a chancellor, the man who stood above the heads of all the nobles. The people, and even the stiff-upper-lipped nobles, bowed in acknowledgement of Killion’s ability and character.

‘But… What is he doing now… Why is he so fidgety? Why on earth…!’

The embarrassment was on Windler’s face, and he blushed bright red.

Windler immediately ducked down to observe Killion.

He had to find out what the hell was wrong with Killion, it was his duty, the duty of his aide.

It was urgent to find out exactly where Killion’s gaze was directed. Every time he turned his head, Windler calculated the angle and scanned ahead.

‘Are you looking at that person in the robe over there? I think it’s a woman, huh…?’

His Excellency is leering at a woman? A woman is causing him to fidget like that? Windler’s eyes widened and his mouth dropped open.

‘You can’t be serious!’

Ever since the unfortunate passing of the Princess, Killion had turned his back on women like a stone.

His godfather had been so worried about him that he’d turned down all the imperial tournaments, as well as those organized by other nobles.

‘But a woman… You’re looking at a woman, you’re taking an interest in a woman, an intense interest. Am I mistaken?’

The corners of Windler’s mouth slowly turned up. He remembered Killion’s order from earlier in the day.

‘I want you to come up with a plan for how we can utilize the magic tools outside of the palace.’

It was an order that, no matter how hard he tried to wrap his head around it, he couldn’t fully comprehend. But now it made perfect sense.

‘It was an order to make contact with that woman!’

As in the case of that kid, Jediel! A broad grin spread across Windler’s face.

Then he remembered Killion’s grave words.

‘Thanks to the hard work of the Matap Institute, the Magdogu has come a long way. However, it is still far from the people, and this initiative should be aimed at bridging that gap.’

It was all a bunch of bullshit, a bunch of lies!

Windler could hardly contain his pride and triumph that he had so completely grasped Killion’s true intentions.

‘I’ll have to find out about that lady.’

Hoo-hoo, he was smiling a soundless, sinister smile. Killion, who had been hiding behind a pillar the whole time, finally stirred.

‘Oh! Are you finally going to speak to her? You’ve worked up the courage!’

Windler swallowed hard in anticipation.

Killion trudged over to the construction site, where the labourers greeted his arrival. Among them was a woman in a robe.

But Killion’s legs didn’t stop walking, and he continued on his way, leaving the labourers with only a brief ‘Good day, then.

‘Eh…?’

Windler’s head tilted to the side. It was a scene that didn’t make much sense.

But it didn’t take long for the corners of Windler’s mouth to twitch upwards again.

‘Is it a push and pull, or something like that, where you pretend to be indifferent one day and interested the next?’

Hoo-hoo, you’re really good at reading your boss’s mind! Windler’s self-esteem was about to skyrocket.

He hastened his steps. There was much to do, much to find out.

This was Killion’s most important time, and to serve him properly, he would need to be at his best and fastest.

And Windler was very good at this.

‘Busy, busy!’

Something resembling a victor’s smile graced his lips.

Windler had arrived at the Institute. It was a research visit to gather data for a plan to bridge the gap between magic and civilian life.

He was greeted by the director, a man with long red hair. He was dressed in a black leather outfit that showed off his athletic body.

The cool-headed warden answered Windler’s questions with sincerity. There was plenty of laughter throughout the question period.

At the end of the meeting, he handed Windler a brochure and said.

“This is a compendium of our recent developments, including our newest tool, so please take it home, peruse it, and let me know if you have any questions.”

“Oh, thanks.”

The brochure was quite thick, and even a cursory glance through it revealed a number of exciting-looking tools. So, the first objective of his visit had been largely fulfilled.

Now it was time to fulfill the second. Windler sipped his tea, which had cooled considerably, and spoke softly.

“I have high hopes for the moving staircase we’re installing in the Star Palace.”

“Have high hopes, and I’m sure they’ll be justified.”

“Haha, you’re getting me excited just thinking about it, by the way.”

Windler said, straightening his posture and lowering his voice slightly.

“I noticed there’s a lady in that field crew who always wears a robe…”

“Ah, you mean Nia! Actually, the moving staircase was my Nia’s idea. She’s a normal person with no magical powers, but she has great magical creativity and planning skills, and we brought her here with difficulty.”

The talkative Warden spat out the unasked-for information with aplomb.

This gave Windler a pleasant premonition that his second objective would be easy to achieve.

‘Her name is Nia, a non-magical commoner, the architect of the moving staircase.’

He drilled it into his head, trying not to forget what he’d just heard.

“Every group needs a talented member, and from the sounds of it, Nia is just that.”

Windler spoon-fed the warden’s words, and then the excited warden was back to spouting off unsolicited information.

“Yes, she’s very capable, but it’s a shame she seems to prefer working as a healer in the clinic.”

“Oh… She’s a healer and not just a regular person, that’s even better!”

Windler exclaimed, and let the information sink in.

“She’s got a lot of powers. But the good news is, Nia has a son.”

“Oh… She has a son!”

Windler exclaimed inwardly. It was embarrassing that the only woman Killion was interested in had a son.

But the mysterious warden continued.

“I don’t think Nia would ever leave our Matap Institute to give her son a quality education, and he’s currently attending the Imperial Normal Academy’s Kindergarten.”

“Ah…!”

Windler suddenly realized everything.

‘Did I mention Jediel, that little boy was her son!’

Killion had said he was interested in Jediel because he looked like Aaron. But it was all a lie.

It was clear that the reason Killion was interested in the boy was because of his mother!

A discovery within a discovery! Windler could hardly contain himself for making such an adorable discovery.

At this point, there was a question that had to be asked. Windler wasted no time in asking.

“By the way, is Nia’s husband…?”

“Oh… that’s a sad story, she didn’t have a husband, I heard he died before the child was born.”

“Oh, that… is sad.”

Windler lowered the corner of his eyes and the corner of his mouth at the same time, making a wistful expression. But inside, he was actually glad.

If the only woman Killion was interested in was a married woman, it would be problematic and hurt Killion’s feelings.

Windler’s worries about his master were lightened. So now I’m worried about the woman in front of him.

No, he was worried about the employees who trusted her as their master.

‘I’m glad you’re giving me all the information I’ve been wanting to know, but… is it really okay to spill the beans on the staff’s personal lives like this?’

Unbeknownst to Windler, the warden had told him everything he hadn’t asked, including that Nia lived in the village of Rosler and still lived with her corrected grandparents.

The warden was so full of information that Windler felt like he had an inner connection with Nia, whom he had never spoken to before.

Tsk, tsk, Windler clicked his tongue so softly the warden couldn’t hear it and shook his head in disbelief.

The next morning, it was the voices of the boys spreading newspapers from house to house that woke the nation.

“Oh, dear, dear, the Emperor has died!”

“It was a fire accident, wasn’t it?”

“Another fire? What is this all about?”

The news of the Emperor’s death in the newspapers stunned the people.

The villa where he had gone for a holiday had caught fire. The Emperor was killed instantly, but Madame Brienne, who was with him, escaped with only burns.
