Phantom Skeleton Painting

Chapter 71.1 Dream

Lin Banxia looked at Song Qingluo’s expression that was gentler than the moonlight, and the tips of his ears began to feel hot again. Fortunately, it was dark and he couldn’t see clearly, so he turned his head and said casually: “Then you want to go for a walk outside and talk?”

Song Qingluo said: “Okay.”

The night was dark and the roses were no longer visible, but the scent of flowers could still be smelled in the air. Lin Banxia liked this community. It was full of flowers and plants and was well-kept. He originally wanted to sigh that it must not be easy to take care of this, and the gardener really worked hard, but then he remembered the way Cui Gaoyu snapped his fingers, and then he thought, it seemed that it was not the gardener who should be thanked, but Cui Gaoyu.

After thinking about it, he laughed first. Song Qingluo asked him why he was laughing, but he didn’t think much about it. He smiled and said that he thought of Cui Gaoyu.

Song Qingluo’s expression changed, and he said faintly: “Why, after you met, do you think more about him? You can’t really have an affair, right?”

Lin Banxia was shocked: “How is that possible?!”

Song Qingluo: “Then what do you want him to do?”

Lin Banxia: “I…” He really shouldn’t have dug a hole for himself to jump into. He held it in for a long time and said, “I wonder what he ate to grow so tall.”

Song Qingluo: “…”

Speaking of height, Lin Banxia got excited: “Why am I still so short? I won’t really be this short in the future, right??”

Song Qingluo said: “No, you can also develop in university.”

Lin Banxia said: “Really?”

Song Qingluo: “…Really, ba.”

Lin Banxia: “…” Why did you say the word “ba” and look so lacking in confidence? I am short because I never had enough to eat. In the future, when I am free from studying and I work more part-time jobs, I will be able to grow a lot taller if I have enough to eat, right? Thinking of this, he felt that it was getting late and said, “Then I’ll go back to school first.”

Song Qingluo said: “Don’t leave tonight.”

Lin Banxia: “Huh??”

Song Qingluo pretended to look at his watch: “It’s already nine o’clock, and the buses have stopped.”

Lin Banxia looked at him suspiciously: “Stopped?”

Song Qingluo lied without changing his expression: “Yeah.”

Lin Banxia: “Then how do you usually come back?”

Song Qingluo: “…” He was silent for two seconds, then calmly filled in the loophole, “Take a taxi.”

Lin Banxia wilted, “Okay, I’ll just… just stay at your house for one night…”

So, the matter was settled. That night, Lin Banxia and Song Qingluo lay on the same bed for the first time. Lin Banxia was a little nervous. His body was so stiff that he didn’t dare to move. Countless scenes passed through his mind. When he finally relaxed, he realized that Song Qingluo had already fallen asleep and was breathing evenly.

The moon was very bright that night. Through the moonlight, Lin Banxia saw Song Qingluo’s profile. He thought that Song Qingluo was extremely beautiful at this time, and he would definitely be even more beautiful when he grew up. He would be very lucky to be able to meet him in the future.

Lin Banxia relaxed his body and let sleep invade…

Tick, tick, the patter of rain woke Lin Banxia from his sleep. He opened his eyes in confusion and found that Song Qingluo had disappeared from beside him. Lin Banxia stood up and looked out the window. Sure enough, it was raining again. What was different from before was that although it rained this time, there was still a bright moon hanging in the sky. The moonlight was like water, flowing down and the whole world was enveloped in it.

Almost instantly, Lin Banxia realized that he was dreaming. He walked to the window sill, and looked up at the moon.

The moon was perfect, like a clear jade plate, but there was something vaguely spreading on the jade plate. Lin Banxia was slightly stunned, and even thought he was dazzled. He rubbed his eyes heavily, but the shadow just became more obvious. Above the moon, the shadow seemed to be alive, slowly crawling and encompassing the entire moon.

The shape of the shadow was like mountains, winding and undulating, as quiet as distant tombs.

Lin Banxia heard the sound of the wind, which sounded like human wailing, coming from the sky. The whole world began to twist, darkness spread, and the floating dust was swept by the wind and hit Lin Banxia’s cheek. His body was instantly devoured, and he lost all senses, as if he had fallen into a huge void of nothingness.

This feeling lasted for a long time. Lin Banxia felt that it would be difficult for ordinary people to bear it, but he actually felt fine, as if some kind of negative emotion had been forcibly blocked.

His body began to fall, and it wasn’t until his feet stepped on hard ground that light appeared in his sight again.

He arrived at a strange place. It was an empty room that looked like a child’s bedroom. The furniture was simple, with only a cabinet, a bed and a bookcase. The three small pieces of furniture look so awkward in this room, and looking at them like this made people feel very uncomfortable.

There were no lights or windows in the room. He didn’t know where the light came from. Lin Banxia looked around and thought at first that there were many patterns printed on the walls of the room. When he got closer, he discovered the mottled patterns on the walls. It was not the pattern of the wallpaper, but blood stains.

It was human blood. He couldn’t tell how long it took to apply it, but the originally red blood had turned black.

Lin Banxia leaned over and carefully observed the marks. He quickly realized that these marks were not scribbled on randomly, but were more like words. Unfortunately, the words were messy and he couldn’t quite understand them. Just when Lin Banxia felt a little regretful, he took two more steps forward and saw other patterns on the wall. He suddenly realized that these words… were not written by one person. Because he actually saw other languages, English, Japanese, Russian… Although he didn’t recognize some words at all, he could identify its origin from the shape of the words.

What was this place? Why did he come here suddenly? Lin Banxia was a little confused. He read every paragraph of text carefully. Just when he thought he couldn’t get any useful information, he actually saw Chinese in the corner.

Chinese? Lin Banxia squatted down and observed carefully. Because it was written with blood on someone’s fingers, the font was a little blurry, but even so, Lin Banxia recognized the first three words at a glance. It was not that he was smart, but that those three words were too special. It was a name – Bai Luze.

Stroke by stroke, the writing was so serious. Just by looking at it, one can imagine the pious mood of the person who left these words.

Lin Banxia stretched out his fingers and rubbed the wall. The tip of his nose even seemed to smell the fishy smell of blood. After the three words Bai Luze, he saw a few unclear words: “Wait until I come back.”

Wait for me to come back? Who are you waiting for? Who left this sentence? Does it have anything to do with Cui Gaoyu? Or, could it be that Cui Gaoyu has been here before?? Countless questions popped up in Lin Banxia’s mind, and he wanted to continue looking, but he suddenly heard the sound of the wind. The sound seemed to be in his ears, and it was clearer than ever before. Lin Banxia, who was forced to listen, suddenly realized that this was not the sound of wind, but the howling of some kind of creature. It was beside him. As long as he turned his head, he would collide with its breath.

Just when Lin Banxia hesitated, his body was pushed hard by something behind him. This force was so powerful that Lin Banxia was thrown to the ground. He waited for a while, then struggled to get up from the ground, and saw the bed that should have been placed in the center of the room, appearing in front of him.

It was a small, thin bed, probably for children to sleep on. There was a pink bear placed on the edge of the bed. It could be seen that the owner of the bear loved it very much. Even if it became dilapidated, they would not let it go and throw it away. The little bear’s eyes were sewn shut with buttons, and threads popped out of one of them. It stared at the strange visitor in the room with a dull gaze, looking silent and sad.

If you just looked at it, you might think that there was nothing wrong with the bed. However, for some reason, when he saw the bed, Lin Banxia almost instinctively took a step back.

The wind howled, and the unknown force pushed Lin Banxia forward again until he stood in front of the bed. Lin Banxia naturally understood its meaning. The thing seemed to want him to lie down on the bed.

“No.” Lin Banxia refused without hesitation.

Lin Banxia thought that after he made the decision, the surrounding environment would change, but the moment he said no, he woke up. Next to him, Song Qingluo was still sleeping soundly, looking extremely peaceful. Lin Banxia breathed heavily. He stretched out his hand and groped in the quilt, trying to hold Song Qingluo’s hand for comfort. However, he touched something sticky and slippery in the quilt. Lin Banxia raised his hand blankly and saw that his fingers were coated with a sticky, slippery milky white liquid… It seemed as if Song Qingluo was melting. Before he had time to react to what was happening, Song Qingluo’s facial features began to distort beside him, and then turned into a piece of butter roasted by the flames, and before his eyes, melted into a puddle of liquid.

No matter who it was, seeing this scene happening to the person he loved would probably be a heavy blow to his spirit. Fortunately, it was Lin Banxia who encountered all this, so he just looked at the liquid in his hand blankly, and his emotions didn’t change for a long time.

However, reason prevailed. Song Qingluo melted, which meant that he was still dreaming. He was secretly glad in his heart. Lin Banxia shook the liquid from his hand vigorously, turned around and wanted to get out of bed. As soon as his feet were placed on the floor, he felt himself stepping on nothingness, and the floor turned into a bottomless abyss, and he fell into it without any precautions.

The strong sense of weightlessness in dreams always easily wakes people up, so Lin Banxia woke up again. He didn’t know how many times he had woken up and how many layers of dreams he was in at this time, but when he turned his head and saw Song Qingluo lying next to him again, he suddenly realized that his decisive refusal just now annoyed the ruler in the dream.

It wanted him to surrender.

However, Lin Banxia had always been a person who could be persuaded by soft means rather than hard ones. Moreover, he still vaguely remembered that in reality, he seemed to have a bank card with more than one million in it… If he was trapped in a dream, what should he do with the money in the card?

After entering the dreamland for an unknown number of days, Lin Banxia fell into deep melancholy for the first time.
