My Time as a Cat in College

Chapter 16

The next day, they had a day off before military training.

None of the cats in the dormitory had gotten up yet and were still sleeping when the sun was up. Yesterday, they were busy moving things and having fun eating hot pot.

Qi Xiaohan was lying in her cat nest. She felt a cell phone vibrating next to her paws. She scratched her ears with her back paws then groped around for the cell phone, pushing it aside and continuing to sleep.

After a while, the phone vibrated again. The little white cat pressed the phone with her paw, fumbled for a while, then opened her eyes with a meow.

Zhou Mingyu continued to send her WeChat messages,

– Catalpa Wood Puppet: “Is Xiaohan awake? Wake up, wake up!”

– Catalpa Wood Puppet: “Would you like to go out to play today? I have made an appointment with some classmates to go out and play together. I will take you with me!”

– Catalpa Wood Puppet: “There will be military training tomorrow, and the school’s new students can go out to play.”

– Catalpa Wood Puppet: “Hey, I just saw someone selling cat scratching posts in the second-hand market. They are quite cheap. Do you want to buy them?”

Finally, the last one woke up the kitten.

The little white cat slept messily. She looked at her phone angrily and then clicked on the link that Zhou Mingyu sent her.

After clicking on the link, it was posted by a third-year student selling second-hand cat scratching posts.

Qi Xiaohan went in and took a look. The cat scratching post was priced at two hundred yuan. The kitten immediately lay down and turned over.

Two hundred yuan is considered a cheap cat scratching post? The ones she used to use at home were just a bit more than forty yuan!

The forty-yuan cat scratching post was already very useful.

Qi Xiaohan scrolled down and saw the photo posted by the third-year student – The cat scratching post was a super large one, with a luxurious cat climbing frame.

Zhou Mingyu was still sending her a message: “How is it? Have you seen it? I think it’s a great deal. If it’s so big, it must cost a lot of money at the original price, right?”

It was indeed quite good. Qi Xiaohan propped herself up with her paws. She lowered her head and carefully observed the scratching post, her face very serious. The more she looked at it, the more satisfied she became.

“Meow–”

Just a bit expensive.

Wouldn’t she be spending a lot to buy such a big cat scratching post for a small cat?

Qi Xiaohan originally planned to buy one worth twenty or thirty yuan. She didn’t want to spend too much money while going to school.

The kitten clicked on the link hesitantly, but still contacted the third-year student.

“Hello, senior brother, I would like to ask if this cat scratching post can be made cheaper?”

The other person replied almost immediately: “This is already very cheap, Junior Sister!! Come and see, come and see with your own eyes, my cat scratching post is as big as the bed, isn’t it worth the price? That cat tree and cat climbing frame was my roommate’s. Consider it a gift. How about it, do you want it?”

After that, he sent another video.

The cat scratching board inside was indeed super big, bigger than the one in the picture, and she wasn’t sure if it was an illusion, but she felt that the senior’s dormitory seemed to be much bigger than theirs.

“Junior sister, you really can’t be cheap. Otherwise, what is your major? How about senior brother gives you another set of textbooks! These are all senior brother’s property!”

The little white cat raised its paw and typed quickly on the phone: “Thank you, brother. Actually, I am a small cat, and this scratching post is too big.”

“It can be used together in the dormitory. If you don’t buy it, you will suffer a loss. You really won’t be cheated. You can come to my place to try it and then decide if you want it. It’s free to try!”

“You are from the Cat Clan, right? Since you are a junior sister of the Cat Clan, I will give you another ten-yuan discount. It really cannot be any cheaper. If it is cheaper, senior brother will not have money to recharge his meal card this week! Bursting into tears. jpg”

Speaking of this, Qi Xiaohan was a little embarrassed to say no. The little kitty stared at the phone with a solemn expression.

Not good, I was tricked.

“Junior sister, do you want to try? It doesn’t matter. What’s your major? I’ll go find some books for you. By the way, is your dormitory missing a lot of things? Do you want cat grass? I also have a sack of cat grass seeds here.”

How difficult is this senior brother’s life?

Qi Xiaohan: “No need for the cat grass, just… a cat scratching post. I’m a major in spiritual power control at the Fire Spirit Academy.”

Senior Brother: “Okay.”

Qi Xiaohan planned to try it first, and if it was really suitable, she would buy it and use it with her roommates. Anyway, with four cats in the dormitory, it was reasonable to use a cat scratching post and a cat climbing frame.

The little white cat raised her head and looked around. Seeing that everyone was awake and playing with their phones on their beds, she meowed and mentioned the matter.

“There is a senior brother who went to sell a cat scratching board and cat climbing frame. They are probably quite big. We can use them together for our dorm. Can we put it in the dormitory then?”

“OK!”

“How big is the cat scratching post? How much does it cost? We’ll pay for it together.”

Lu Lingling was lively and took the lead to straighten up, spread her claws and jumped directly from her bed to Qi Xiaohan’s bed. She looked at Qi Xiaohan’s mobile phone and said, “Let me see how big it is.”

After watching the video, Lu Ling was silent for a moment. The cat’s eyes widened in disbelief, and she yelled angrily: “Why, why is the boys’ dormitory a room for two!?”

“And it’s so big!!”

The little snow leopard also jumped onto Qi Xiaohan’s bed, and slapped its tail on the bed railing, her fur almost exploding. Looking at their own small dormitory, and then at the other’s dormitory and living room, the inequality instantly became evident.

The golden cat Xiao Mengmeng was a gentle big cat. She also jumped from the opposite side of the bed to Qi Xiaohan’s bed. When she saw the video on her phone, she fell silent and lay down next to Qi Xiaohan, sighing faintly.

“Ugh…”

The little white cat’s cat ears moved, and she was a little helpless: “So should we buy it or not?”

“Buy!”

“Once it comes, I’ll transfer the money back to you.”

“Buy it, and ask him if he has any alchemy textbooks by the way, so that I don’t have to buy textbooks.”

Seeing that all her roommates wanted to buy it, the little kitten replied on her mobile phone: “Brother, my roommates and I will come over and get it later. By the way, my roommate asked you if you have any textbooks on alchemy?”

Senior Brother: “Yes! Whatever you want, I can get it!”

Anyway, they don’t need the freshman books anymore, so he could just casually go to the dormitory door and ask, some of them would be given to them.

Lang Chen was changing his dressing in the dormitory bathroom, and threw the bloody bandage aside.

The bathroom was filled with water vapor, and the tall and well-proportioned body loomed in the mirror, full of a sense of strength. The hideous wound on the back looked particularly terrifying.

Lang Chen picked up the medicine prescribed by the school hospital and poured it on his back.

The moment the wound came into contact with the medicinal powder, Lang Chen’s eyes darkened in pain. He took a big breath and gritted his teeth for a while before he recovered.

Although the medicine at the school hospital was strong, it was quite effective. Such wounds could be healed in a few days.

After changing the medicine, Lang Chen silently tied on the new gauze and put on his clothes.

It was unknown what Duo-en was doing outside the bathroom, but he kept making noise. After a while, he came over and knocked on the door.

“Lang Chen, do you still want the textbooks for your freshman year? A junior sister wants to buy the cat scratching post from our dormitory, so I promised her the books as well. If you still want it, I’ll go to other dormitories and ask.”

“…In the box under my bed.” The voice coming from the bathroom was slightly hoarse.

“Hey, are you okay? Do you want me to help you?”

Lang Chen changed his clothes, opened the door and came out, saying quietly: “No need.”

Dorn nodded, took out Lang Chen’s box from under the bed, found the freshman textbook for the Fire Spirit Academy’s Control Department, and placed it on the cat scratching board beside him.

Lang Chen had already passed with high marks in his freshman class, so the books had always been left there.

This tiger always got A’s in all competitions and exams, and was first in everything. Dou-en had been in the same dormitory with him for so many years, and he deeply suspected that Lang Chen was a top-tier cancer[1.].

Lang Chen glanced at the huge cat scratching board.

The cat scratching board still had scratch marks from when he and Dorn sharpened their claws when they were freshmens.

Duo-en packed up everything and dragged it out. When he walked out the door, he looked back at Lang Chen and said, “I won’t be back later. I’m going to set up a stall at the second-hand market. I heard that Lusha went out to play today, I’ll see if I can meet her by chance, so you don’t have to leave the door open for me when you go out.”

Lang Chen leaned against the bed with his eyes closed. His face was pale and he looked a little tired: “I understand. I have a meeting later to lead the military training for new students tomorrow.”

Lang Chen rubbed his eyebrows and tilted his head, just in time to see four big and small cats downstairs through the dormitory window. The snow-white kitten was particularly conspicuous.

The fluffy kitten was buried directly between the other three big cats, looking small and cute.

If she really bought Duo-en’s huge cat scratching post, this kitten would probably only be able to occupy the smallest corner of it.

There was a faint smile in Lang Chen’s eyes, and then he raised his eyes and said to the big lion who was moving things loudly: “Give them the fire spirit stones that I didn’t use.”

That kitten grew so slowly because it lacked spiritual energy since childhood. Otherwise, it would have at least grown into an adult cat after more than ten years.

Now she looked so small and fluffy and as if she could easily be bullied.

Dou-en grinned: “That’s right. Just treat it as a nutritional supplement for the freshmen kids. We don’t need it anyway.”

As he spoke, he pulled out the fire spirit stones.

There was a lot of noise outside the dormitory. Some juniors and seniors[2.] were moving things out, preparing to make money at the second-hand market while the freshmen were entering school. Some of them were even giving things directly to the freshmen. After all, the dormitory was just like that. It’s big, and some unused items take up too much space. It would be a pity to throw it away. It’s better to give them to the younger students.

For example, Duo-en planned to go out and set up a stall while the sun was shining.

Downstairs in the dormitory, the four big and small cats were sitting there chatting and waiting. After a while, a man with blond hair came downstairs.

The man was a muscular man, dragging a cart for transporting goods. There was a huge cat scratching post, various books, a rather spectacular cat climbing frame and other things on it.

“It’s Senior Brother Duo-en!” The golden cat Xiao Mengmeng shouted happily, stood up and looked in the direction of their Senior Brother.

Unexpectedly, the person selling cat scratching posts to them at the second-hand market was actually Duo-en.

Duo-en dragged the cart to the four cats, and said with a hearty smile: “You’ve been waiting for a long time. See how the cat scratching post looks. It’s completely genuine!”

After saying that, he removed the cat scratching board and let the four junior sisters try it out.

The little white cat raised its paw and tried to scratch it.

“Meow!”

The kitten’s eyes lit up, and she raised her two paws together, scratching and scratching.

The other three roommates saw it and joined in to try it out.

The big lion on the side smiled: “I said it is easy to use. My roommate and I bought it when we were freshmen. The quality is quite good! The cat climbing frame is not broken at all. Take a look.”

Looking at the spectacular cat climbing frame, Dormitory 412 was silent for a moment, staring up at it.

“I’m afraid our room height is not high enough, right?”

“It should be enough, but it takes up too much area. Do we have room to put it?”

“It should be okay on the balcony…”

Qi Xiaohan: “Brother, why did you buy a cat climbing frame for your dormitory?”

Moreover, isn’t Senior Brother Duo-en’s roommate Senior Brother Lang Chen? To be honest, Senior Brother Lang Chen doesn’t look like a tiger who would use a cat climbing frame, not to mention that a cat climbing frame can’t hold a tiger!

Duo-en smiled and said, “My roommate’s father insisted on sending it to him. He said he had used it since he was a child and it would feel like home.”

At that time, when Lang Chen’s father asked someone to bring the cat climbing frame, Lang Chen’s face was almost as black as the bottom of a pot. He was so angry that his expression was cold for a week, and Duo-en wanted to laugh every time he thought about it.

It wasn’t until his junior year that Lang Chen couldn’t stand the cat climbing frame anymore, so he took advantage of the situation and sent the cat climbing frame away.

It had to be said, this cat climbing frame was really out of place in their dormitory.

Especially when others came to their dormitory and saw the cat climbing frame, they couldn’t help laughing. As a lion, it was rare for him to feel a little embarrassed.

“Anyway, I just gave it to you. I also give you these fire spirit stones. Remember to practice and study hard.”

Duo-en rubbed the heads of the junior sisters, helped them transport their things to the dormitory, and then dragged the other bits and pieces on the trolley to the second-hand market to set up a stall.

Qi Xiaohan transferred money to Duo-en on the campus second-hand market interface, and then looked at the many extra things in the dormitory, and the four cats sighed in unison.

“It’s a bit too big…”

Xiao Mengmeng sighed.

“By the way, Xiaohan, I transferred the money to you.” The snow leopard put down the cat scratching post and said to Qi Xiaohan.

“I transferred too.”

“Sent.”

Qi Xiaohan shook her tail to express receipt, and then the four cats began to stare at the cat climbing frame and cat tree again.

“Or put it all on the balcony, with the cat climbing frame in the corner and the cat scratching post on the ground. You can also lie on it and bask in the sun on weekdays.” The little snow leopard suggested.

Golden cat: “Obviously, you are thinking too much. From this angle, we can’t get any sun while lying on the ground.”

Little lynx: “Oh, I want to take a photo and post it on WeChat Moments. This is the first time I have had such a big cat scratching post and cat tree!”

As she said this, the little lynx jumped onto the scratching board lively. The little snow leopard reluctantly hugged the phone and took pictures of the lynx.

“Wow!” The little lynx lay on the scratching board, trying its best to strike a pose and assume an offensive posture.

The little white cat also jumped up and stood with her two front paws spread out in a certain classic anime pose. The golden cat followed them, and the three cats crowded together. The little snow leopard thought for a while, and simply turned the phone to automatically shoot and stacked on top of the roommates with a whooshing sound.

“Yeah!”

The four cats meowed happily.

Translator’s comments:

  1. Duo-en is suspecting he’s a cancer in terms of Zodiac signs because he’s smart. Cancers are known to be one of the most intelligent Zodiac signs.
  2. So I decided to stop translating freshman, sophomore, junior and senior into 1st,2nd, 3rd & 4th year because it can sometimes get a bit annoying as I am not familiar with those terms, in our country we use grades such as 9 – 12 etc. However, a thing to note in this is that they will sometimes refer to each other as junior and senior brother and sister. This is just the usual phrase used for someone older or younger than you.
