I'm the Friend of a Male Lead who went Crazy after the Female Lead Died

FMLWWC | Chapter Six

Even though she had a human appearance, Elshnain was primarily a spirit.

She possessed superior physical abilities compared to ordinary humans.

Swoosh!

Oh my!

With a swift motion, she tilted her head backwards to dodge the demon’s tentacle-like arms before bending down to avoid the sharp teeth coming at her.

“Ki-Killian!” she shouted with a pale face.

While spirits were stronger than humans, they were not on the same level as demons.

At Elshnain’s cry, the snake-like face demon glanced at Killian and chuckled when it saw his lack of response to her plea.

“Krrrr! Seems like we hit you harder than I thought, huh? The world’s protector is frozen in fear, how amusing! Hahaha!”

Despite the demons’ taunts, Killian just stood there expressionless.

What’s wrong with him? He should have dealt with the demon the moment it appeared!

Elshnain’s face turned paler with bewilderment.

The demon, on the other hand was having the time of Its life, and shouted again, “Contrary to the rumors, he is nothing but a weakling. Well, I guess I have nothing to fear from someone who cannot even wield the Holy Sword anymore!”

Yet, once again, Killian paid no attention to the creature.

His expression showed no interest, let alone fear, so one could say that the demon’s disillusion about him being afraid was truly astonishing.

The deluded demon looked at Elshnain, and chuckled, “I recognized you as soon as you walked into the mansion. So, this is the renowned Elshnain everyone was talking about, the one who mysteriously vanished.”

“Ahaha. You know me?” Elshnain asked awkwardly.

“How could I not? Krrr! I apologize for the late introduction, I’m Helena, a high-ranking second-grade demon.”

Second grade!

Elshnain’s eyes widened.

What is this? The demon in the original story was a third grade one.

Helena giggled and took a step closer.

Scared, Elshnain turned to Kilian with a pleading look, only to find him just staring at her as if he was waiting for something.

Oh!

Elshnain’s blue eyes shook greatly at his gaze, and only then did she realize what he was waiting for.

He’s waiting to see if I’m going to use his powers. That’s why he stayed put, even after a demon appeared in his own house.

Under normal circumstances, Elshnain would have effortlessly dealt with the second-class demon without using her vessel’s power. That is, if she used Killian’s magic through the contract that bound them together.

Is he really trying to confirm that I lost my memories in this situation?

Elshnain’s face contorted.

In order to access the contractor’s power, she would need to say the ‘vow’ made when the contract was formed. But there’s no way that she, who lost her memories, could possibly know about their contract, let alone how to activate it.

Additionally, she couldn’t use her own magic either. The recovery rate of a vessel’s power was extremely slow, and to use that power now would simply lead to self-destruction.

Besides, she already told Killian that she had exhausted her vessel’s magic to its absolute limit.

“I can’t miss this great opportunity!” Muttered the demon as it rushed towards her.

Elshnain narrowly avoid the long arm that flew towards her.

“Eeek! Killian, I thought you said we were friends?”

She couldn’t say the ‘vow.’ If she did, it would be like confessing that she didn’t lose her memories.

How far was Killian willing to go to get Arwen back?…

Ugh.

Elshnain shuddered.

Meanwhile, Kilian was still staring at her with cold, and dead eyes. That heartless bastard! His friend of 12 years was in such danger, but he’s just going to watch!

“Ugh!”

With a resounding boom, the demon swung its elongated arms in a wide arc, barely missing Elshnain’s head—and her hair, which was floating in the air, was neatly cut off before falling to the ground.

And Elshnain’s face grew paler.

Trying to avoid the dangerous arms, Elshnain continued to retreat, thinking that the attacks were weirdly predictable.

It wasn’t until her back pressed against the wall behind did she understand why.

It deliberately made me move into a dead-end.

The demon chuckled, “There’s nothing to fear from a guardian who cannot hold the holy sword anymore. He is no match for me now!”

It seemed that Helena intended to subdue Elshnain rather than kill her. Her massive hand clamped tightly around Elshnain’s neck, and no matter how hard she struggled, the grip did not loosen.

“Arghh!”

“I’ll start by capturing you, then, I will slowly get him drunk on black magic. Hahaha!”

“Ki……Killian……!” Elshnain called one last time as her vision started to blur.

Her throat felt tight, and the saliva she couldn’t swallow dripped down her chin.

Killian, you son of a bitch! If you’re going to save me, do it quickly.

She knew there’s no way Killian would just hand her over to the demons. After all, she still had a trump card up her sleeve.

Arwen.

That’s why she had managed to hold on and refrained from using the ‘vow’ no matter what.

But it might be too late.

As her consciousness was slowly fading away, a deep voice was heard.

“Seeing how you didn’t say the vow, it seems you have truly forgotten everything.”

I said I forgot!

I’ve said it multiple times!

Elshnain glared at Killian, who appeared calm, with hazy eyes. Her stomach was bubbling up.

In fact, if you thought about it, she was the one in the wrong since she was lying to him. But wasn’t she doing all of this for his sake in the first place.

Tears welled up in her eyes.

“What’s the matter? You are next… Huh?”

Swish.

A streak of blood suddenly appeared on Helena’s neck. And as it slowly dripped on the floor, her head and body began to separate.

It was an unrealistic scene.

And Elshnain quickly rolled out of the way as a purple liquid spurted out like a fountain.

“Cough, cough! Keuk!”

Helena probably didn’t understand how she died.

If even Elshnain, who possessed extremely sharp spiritual senses, didn’t notice when Killian had drawn his sword, there’s no way the demon would have.

Looking at the scabbard perfectly tied to his waist as if he had never pulled the sword out in the first place, Elshnain coughed repeatedly.

Her throat was hurting like hell.

“Where did you get the elixir of life?” Killian asked, mercilessly plucking the flowers out, and checking the water inside the vase.

“Uh…elixir of life? Is that what it’s called? I found it in the cabin, and just brought it along. Keuk,”

Ugh, as soon as the flowers were put in the pot, the demon revealed its true form as if sensing the presence of the water of life.

But my plan was for the infiltration issue to be solved without anyone knowing how!

“I only thought that watering the flowers would make them go quickly…” Elshnain responded, cautiously glancing at Kilian, and looking as frightened as she could.

And perhaps because spent a whole day in close proximity when they reunited in the cabin, but the expression came to her quite naturally.

“A person claiming to have lost her memory prepared the water of life?”

“Well, Uhm, you see,” Elshnain nervously rolled her eyes before hurriedly continuing, “I, bef…it seems like I prepared it before losing my memories.”

“You did it before losing your memories?”

“Yes.”

“How did you know it was you who prepared it?”

Shit!

“Um, because there was a letter?” she hesitantly replied.

“A letter the ‘you’ before the memory lost wrote to yourself.” Killian concluded.

“…….”

Confused about what to say, Elshnain broke out in a cold sweat.

“So, that means you knew you were going to lose your memories?”

“Huh…?”

Killian’s face turned cold as he peered down at her.

“You intentionally erased your memories,” he affirmed.

Haha…….

Wait, how did the conversation take such a turn?

  • * *

Killian’s misunderstandings about her seemed to have piled up like a mountain.

Leaving the demon’s corpse behind, Elshnain sat across from him, sweating profusely.

“But why haven’t the knights come in?” she asked awkwardly, wanting to escape this stifling silence.

She brought up the topic–pretending not to know the reason even though she did—and Killian, who had been sitting up straight, answered with chilly eyes.

“This office is protected by a sacred barrier.”

“I see.”

“It is a barrier that can be activated even without divine power. No matter what’s going on in here, it won’t be heard from the outside.”

“…….”

Why did that sound like a threat; like no matter how loud she screams, no one will hear her.

Elshnain’s sweating intensified.

But what did he mean by without divine power?

However, her curiosity quickly vanished at the chilling sound of Killian’s voice. “Why did you say that you lost your memories instead of saying that you erased them?”

Accidentally losing one’s memories and intentionally erasing them were two completely different things.

“Uh……. I didn’t realize that until you mentioned it. The letter didn’t mention anything about it. Hmmm, I still can’t remember anything.”

Claiming ignorance was the only way to survive this.

But intentionally erasing her memories?

It’s like she knew she would get caught by Killian and wanted to avoid divulging something important—something like Arwen’s whereabouts.

Elshnain felt sad because her image must have deteriorated in Killian’s eyes.

Then, Killian mumbled some incomprehensible words.

“Did you hate it so much that you had to forget all about it?”

Huh? Hate what?

With a perplexed expression, she looked at him as Killian pursed his lips before swiftly changing the topic.

“In the bag you brought… There seem to be some significantly important items, sealed with magic only you can unlock. are there other things in meant to help someone escape, like the elixir of life?”

Elshnain let out a hesitant laugh, her eyes flickering nervously. What could she possibly say when she was the one who kidnapped the woman he loved and may have erased her own memories.

She was completely in the dark.

“Did I just stumble upon what you were desperately trying to hide to the point of giving yourself amnesia?”

His eyes were focused on her wrists and ankles. Then, with a low, and ominous tone, he whispered, “When you get your memories back, you will……”

But at that precise moment, a familiar face burst into the study.

“My Lord!”
