I Thought It Was a Common Transmigration

Special 14. Flashback (7)

While Lise was chewing on her fingertips, Killian led the knights and left to find Edith, and Cliff also increased the number of knights looking for Edith. It was clear that Edith would be caught sooner or later.

‘So the only thing I can count on now is the Level 3 exception condition?’

Even with her last operation, Lise was unable to kill Edith. Now, she had to portray Edith begging Killian to save her until the end. Lise grew thinner day by day until the day of the Rigelhof family’s execution.

‘If… If the 3rd stage condition is met, then what happens?’

Lise wouldn’t die. It wasn’t like some huge disaster was coming. However, the future that Lise knew disappeared and time continued to pass. However, facing an unknown future and becoming older and ugly was nothing short of a disaster for Lise.

‘I don’t like that! What on earth should I do?’

For the first time in her life as Lise, she felt like she was helpless. A being like the soldiers standing at the execution site.

“Edith Riegelhoff has been captured!”

“She is being taken here now!”

Fortunately or unfortunately, Edith was caught first by Cliff’s knight, not Killian.

‘Please struggle and don’t surrender… please…’

Lise hoped that Edith would have her last fight, but as she has always done since Edith was possessed for the 13th time, her wish was not granted. Edith’s expression showed no will to live as she walked hurriedly behind the knights. Lise urgently ran to Edith.

“Edith! Why, why did you do that?”

“What?”

Edith had a truly puzzled expression.

“I beg them to save you, Edith! I hope it was a mistake and that you sincerely regret it! Killian is a person with deep feelings, so there is no way he would ignore Edith!”

Lise had never appealed so sincerely before. She desperately prayed that Edith would rebel against her death even just a little. But Edith shook her head. Edith, who had been ignoring Lise’s appeals to explain her misunderstanding, eventually revealed her white and slender neck to Killian, who had taken over her.

‘No! No!’

The moment Lise screamed internally, the voice of the system was heard.

[Level 3 exception conditions have been met. An exceptional situation arises and the author’s rights are completely lost. Stage 3 exception conditions will disappear.]

Lise sat down on the spot.

“All those Rigelhof bastards who not only participated in the treason but also committed heinous acts deserve to be punished.”

Killian, who opened his mouth as if he were about to slit Edith’s throat, added with a faint smile.

“By the way, my wife’s name has been Edith Ludwig ever since wee got married. To call Edith ‘Rigelhof’, that is an insult to Duke Ludwig. Isn’t that right?”

Lise was dazed by the ‘exceptional situation’ caused by the satisfaction of the level 3 exception conditions.

‘I can’t believe Killian saved Edith, who everyone wanted to kill…’

The last twelve Ediths had lost their lives here, in this place, under Killian’s sword. There was not a single exception. This was Lise’s first time seeing this exceptional situation.

‘No, everything about the 13th Edith was something I had never seen before.’

As the execution of the Rigelhof family began, Liege came out and paced back and forth nervously, biting his lip.

‘I can’t believe I lost.’

This would mean the existence of this world would disappear. Because this was a world where Lise Sinclair had to be the main character. At that time, a knight next to her meddled widely.

“Lady Lise is so soft-hearted that it will be difficult for her to just listen, but there is a law in the world that must be maintained even by such drastic measures.”

When Lise heard those words, her head seemed to brighten up.

‘Yes, in order to keep order, you have to use drastic measures.’

She couldn’t admit that she lost.

‘It’s just that the level 3 exception conditions have been met. As long as Edith dies, Lise’s narrative can be saved!’

When Edith died, the stories that were differentiated into Edith’s narrative would disappear, and there would be no more things to disturb Lise. Even though Lise did not have control over her character, it was a life she has lived many times before, and she has enough control over changes that were within her tolerance.

‘Edith must die. Right here, as a villainess.’

Lise expressed her gratitude to the knight who advised me and ran to her mansion to get a hot pot. A sharp dagger was also with her.

“Lise, there’s nothing good to see.”

Cliff stopped Lise from entering the execution site.

“I’m not here to watch her execution… I’m going to bring some hot pot to Edith.”

“Lise…”

“It’s going to be cold. It was decided not to execute Edith anyway. So please allow me this much, Cliff.”

The soldiers next to her looked as if they were touched by her warm heart. In the end, Cliff also sighed and nodded his head. Lise went down to the dungeon where Edith was imprisoned, holding the steamer and dagger in her arms. She had to hurry as she didn’t know how Killian might interfere. She went down and found Edith shivering, blue from the cold. Glad to see that there was no way he would refuse her hot pot, Lise called out to her in a bright voice.

“Edith!”

“Uh? Lise…!”

“It’s cold, right? I brought a hot pot to warm you up.”

However, at Edith’s subsequent answer, Lise’s face hardened without realizing it.

“Thank you, Lise. It was already so cold that I thought I was going to freeze to death.”

Lise was dumbfounded to see that the woman who had been cutting off her head and even her hair until a while ago was now willing to take a hot pot, saying that she was so cold that she would die.

“If you didn’t want to die so much, why didn’t you ask Killian to save you?”

Edith naturally seemed to look at Lise’s attitude strangely. Still, it was funny how he answered Lise’s questions so thoroughly.

“But now you want to come and live again?”

Edith’s final answer was simple: she had given up hope because she felt no one would believe her, and she was tired of claiming innocence and being called a liar.

“Because Killian trusted me.”

Lise now seemed to know where everything went wrong.

“Killian… Yeah, Killian was the problem, always…”

Until now, she had been focusing only on Edith’s actions, so she looked at Killian’s change as too funny. That was the cause of all these failures.

‘I should have held on tight to Killian from the beginning. If that were the case, she wouldn’t have come here…’

Lise felt that all her love for Killian was gone, so she took out her dagger and sharply slashed her own forearm. The feeling of a sharp blade cutting into her skin was unpleasant, but it was a low price to pay for getting everything back with just that little wound.

“Aaaah!”

When Lise threw the dagger into the cage and screamed, Cliff and Killian came down as if they had been waiting.

‘It’s enough now. Done!’

Lise pretended to be scared and cried, but was relieved. If you get hurt in a place where only the two of you are together, it’s clear that Edith will be the culprit. Until Killian picked up the dagger and handed it back to Cliff, Lise had no doubt that Edith would be dragged away. However, the target of Killian’s suspicions was not Edith but Lise.

“Brother, what about that dagger? Isn’t it too warm?”

“What?”

“I grabbed it and the blade and handle were all warm. More than human body temperature.”

“Come to think of it…”

At that moment, Lise realized her mistake. However, she couldn’t think of an excuse as it was an unexpected mistake. She had no choice but to repeat that Edith’s words were lies and that she had only come to hand over the hot pot. But Killian’s eyes became colder.

“And there was one more important mistake, Lise.”

He pulled his hand out between the bars and swung his dagger. He couldn’t make deep cuts with the dagger, as his hands couldn’t even get through the gridded bars.

“Lise, why did you try to frame Edith?”

“Why don’t you believe me? Edith was obviously trying to kill me?”

Lise, who had never been cornered like this before, felt truly aggrieved and shouted. However, Killian criticized her even more, and even criticized Cliff for protecting her. It was Edith who calmed down the excited Killian.

“Killian… Stop it now.”

It was just a calm voice without anger, resentment, superiority, or anything else.

‘What! Why is that girl acting more like the main character and making such a fuss!’

Lise had no choice but to watch as Edith was hugged by Killian and left the dungeon, shedding angry tears.

* * *

What happened after that was too scary to even think about. Although Lise was admonished by Edith, she could not even refute a word, and Duke Ludwig, who had always been on Lise’s side, turned away, saying he was greatly disappointed. When the Duke and Duchess of Ludwig gave Edith a box of gold bars, furs, and an enormous amount of jewelry because they felt sorry for her, she had to realize for the first time in a long time what it was like to live as an ordinary human being rather than a protagonist.

Edith smiling brightly under the spotlight in the middle of the stage, and she having to stand outside the light and clap her hands… Her memories of her past life were already vague, but the feeling of that time when she abandoned her pen name of K and fell into oblivion to everyone was vividly revived.

‘I will never go back to that crappy life.’

The life of being praised by everyone was addictive, and even taking one step away from it resulted in a sense of deprivation that was unbearable. In order to escape from her sense of deprivation, and to overturn the reality that she seemed to be inferior to Edith, Lise first prepared a dazzlingly extravagant wedding. However, while in the original work, things happened even without Lise asking for them, when the power of the original disappeared, everything from top to bottom was provided only when Lise asked for it.

    1. RJR says:

      Yes, I agree with you

Are we gonna see all the events that happened now after Killian and Edith left? Or will we continue to the prison now? Although I do wanna see what happened after they left since they did a detailed description of all the other events in her PoV.
    Thanks RJR!
