I Thought It Was a Common Transmigration

CHAPTER 122

‘Does it make sense for the original author to lose?’

Lise, no, the original author K screamed in her heart. She had never once thought about this outcome. So, she didn’t know what to do next. K was a writer whose first article she wrote for fun was a huge hit. K, who had always been praised for being good at studying since a young age, was depressed due to a series of job failures. She started reading romance novels to forget reality and started writing with the thought, ‘I can write at this level, too’. She created a female protagonist named ‘Lise Sinclair’ with all her longings to the point where she could forget all about her gloomy reality, and she created a male protagonist named ‘Cliff Ludwig’ with all her desires. In addition, her first work, which appropriately mixed together the clichés of romantic comedy, was <I Refuse to Be Obsessed>.

As the number of people reading the novel increased day by day, and soon after she received an offer to publish it from a major publishing company. And the work that was published quickly became a huge hit as soon as it was launched. A fandom was created in an instant, and readers who said they were fans of K praised her in novel communities and cafes. Thanks to this, K regained her confidence right away. Maybe a little bit too much…

‘Well, how many books have I read since I was young and how much do I know? It’s different from what those kids wrote.’

K, who quickly became obsessed with the role of a ‘successful writer’, looked at the works coming out every day with a cynical eye and posted malicious comments posing as a reader.

-Overall, the characters seem flat and the content seems childish. It seems like the author wrote it without any worries.

-There are so many parts of this that remind me of <This is S***>. Did the author sell his conscience?

-Why pay money to read something like this? I only watch the free ones and then get off. Because my coins are precious.

At first, she revealed that she didn’t like it for some reason, but later she was just writing malicious comments for the sake of malicious comments. However, K did not feel the slightest bit of guilt.

‘I’m saving readers money. Instead of reading such trash, read something better.’

Meanwhile, she formed a writers’ union with writers she met on the Internet. Of course, there was no writer better than K in that union. In addition, K evaluated the members’ works once a month in the name of promoting the development of the union members.

“It seems like the vocabulary used is too small. Read more books.”

“Isn’t the situation too contrived? No matter how bad you are, if the probability falls apart like this, you’ll be criticized.”

“I don’t think you have the skills to write yet.”

Although K’s criticism was harsh, the members of the Writers’ Union expressed their gratitude, saying that her sound advice had brought them to their senses. So there was no need for K to be humble. Meanwhile, an incident occurred.

A work written by one of the members of the Writers’ Union was a huge hit. It was a success that surpassed <Home·Emissary>. The union members then congratulated the member and asked him to evaluate their work.

‘What? It was a hit thanks to good promotion, but you’re so cocky.’

K felt angry at the member who took her seat. And she immediately started leaving hateful comments in the comments section of the piece. She passed around the names of his mother, father, and younger brother and made all kinds of malicious interpretations, criticizing the writer, and eventually left a malicious comment telling the writer to stop writing. But perhaps it was too long or too much, the writer sued K. And when the writer faced K in court, he found out that K was the president of the Writers’ Union and became angry, so he went so far as to expose the fact to the Writers’ Union and all other communities. K eventually had to abandon her original pen name and write her works under a new pen name. However, her second work, written under her pen name, was a miserable failure.

From then on, K fell again.

Due to the pressure to be as successful as <House and Envoy>, she was unable to write properly, and her anxiety and depression worsened day by day. She had a huge fight with her parents, who recommended her to receive counseling, and she moved out of their home. The further she fell, the more obsessed she became with “Home/Emissary.” She had enjoyed reading The House and Envoy several times, and especially her affection for the main character, Lise Sinclair, had grown in size with each passing day. At some point, the wish of ‘I want Lise to be like this’ changed to the thought ‘Lise is a character modeled after me.’ Eventually, one thought ate away at K’s head.

‘I am Lise.’

K’s mind, which had been gradually eroded over the years, was unable to distinguish between reality and delusion, and one day, K decided to return to where she belonged.

In a small studio with no one to stop her, K didn’t hesitate at all as he took a handful of sleeping pills. And in the end, K woke up as the Lise Sinclair of a certain universe, just as she had longed for. As the female protagonist and author of the original work. K felt tremendous joy at that moment. All the inferiority complex she felt in her past life was instantly relieved, and she was happy every day. Moreover, with her ability as the original author, she was able to control the main characters and modify the setting as long as it did not conflict with her original work, so she never had a crisis in her life. She just started an incident that seemed like a crisis.

‘Isn’t it a bit boring after repeating this so many times?’

K, who has been through that a few times in her life, decided to add a little thrill to her own life instead of acknowledging that this situation of repeating her same life over and over again was hell. So what she chose was ‘Edith Possession’. Edith, who was a one-off villain who appears briefly and then disappears, but who clashes directly with Lise and acted viciously, was the most formidable character. The result was as expected. She couldn’t tell  how refreshing it was to have a villain who didn’t move like the original. New vitality arose in a life that had been trying to fall into mannerism, and every time she won a battle with a person possessed by Edith, her whole body was thrilled.

It had to be like that forever.

She had to do it forever, but she never imagined that she would be stopped by the 13th Edith.

‘What happens now?’

Edith, the 13th Edith, fulfilled the three-level exception condition that she thought she would never be able to meet. Even though she tried so hard to persuade her, saying, ‘Ask Killian to save you,’ Edith did not even listen, as if she had completely given up on her life.

[Level 3 exception conditions have been met. An exceptional situation arises and the author’s rights are completely lost. Stage 3 exception conditions will disappear.]

The guidance ringing in my head was terrifying. She didn’t know who was talking, but she wanted to run right away and cover their mouths. However, the gods of this world were not on her side, the original author.

[The original scenario set for Edith Ludwig has disappeared. Since the flow of the original work has become extremely weak, the force that supports this world changes from ‘flow of the original work’ to ‘probability’.]

It sounded like a thunderbolt. Now there was no power left for K to exercise in this world. In addition, because the flow of the original work has weakened, the future of Lise’s planned success had also become uncertain.

“No… no…!”

As she trembled and was slightly startled, the knight around her cleared his throat and comforted her.

“Lady Lise is so soft-hearted that it will be difficult for her to just listen, but there is a law in the world that must be maintained even by such drastic measures.”

At that moment, Lise’s trembling stopped.

“Lady Lise…?”

The knight looked at Lise’s complexion with concern, but Lise smiled brightly, as if asking when she had stopped shaking.

“…That’s correct. In order to keep the order… There are certainly things that cannot be helped.”

The knight was proud that she had comforted Lise well. And Lise was truly grateful to the knight. Because the knight’s advice reminded her of what she needed to do.

* * *

How long has she been asleep? She woke up feeling deathly cold. Considering that the screams from the execution site could still be heard, it didn’t seem like she had been asleep for as long as she thought. She shivered and gently pressed her cheek, which felt numb. The tear inside her mouth had healed to some extent, but even the slightest pressure on the bruised area caused a dull pain.

‘How long do I have to stay here?’

If they were going to save her, she hoped they put her in a better place than this. Because she felt like she was going to freeze to death here. As if that was what she was thinking, she soon heard someone opening the prison door and coming down. Since she couldn’t hear the footsteps clearly, she didn’t think they were the knight or Killian.

“Edith!”

“Uh? Lise…?”

It was Lise holding something in her arms.

“It’s cold, right? I brought you a hot pot to warm you up.”

‘Oh! As expected, you have the heart of a protagonist!’

She raised her creaky body and walked closer to the bars.

“Thank you, Lise. It was already so cold that I thought I was going to freeze to death.”

Then Lise’s smile stiffened slightly.

“If you didn’t want to die so much, why didn’t you say a word to Killian earlier to save you?”

“Yes?”

“You tried to die earlier. I told you to ask Killian for your life, but you didn’t even listen…”

For some reason, Lise’s speaking style felt a little different from the original character. Moreover, she couldn’t understand why she should be criticized in this way at the moment when she was so despairing that she lost even the will to live.

“Thank you for worrying about me. But earlier, it was really… I thought living had no meaning. I felt like they wouldn’t believe me no matter what I said. Lise also thought I helped Shane, right?”

Lise pursed her lips and remained silent. Since everything was good, she wished they would have given her some hot pot first, but she felt a little embarrassed even saying that.

She sighed deeply.

  1. Reyaemina says:

Thanks for the update. Waiting for edith and killian’s fluffy moments

  2. Nani says:

do NOT drink that Edith is smart but I don’t know why she keeps believing in Lise. Anyway thank you so much for the chapter

  3. Ayra says:

Ugh… this felt like such a “wasted” chapter. I have no sympathy for K or Lise. I just want to read about my beloved Edith 🙁

    I can’t wait for tomorrow’s update!

As always, thank you so much for your translation 💕

    1. Llane says:

The back story simply confirmed what we already know – that K is a selfish, self-absorbed witch who indifferently ruins multiple lives (both in her initial life, and here in the book) simply to make her poor life choices more “bearable”. I wonder what happens to Lise when she dies in the book.

  4. Astarria says:

Wondering hot pot like food, or hot pot like a brazier for warmth. Either way she’s gonna attempt to kill Edith and I hope people see her for who she is.

    1. If it’s food, then I’m willing to bet it’s poison

      1. Astarria says:

Agreed, that’s what I was thinking too.
That backstory of K/Lize is messed up though. She is so twisted in the head.

    2. Сабира Усманова says:

Она не попытается убить Эдит. Она навредит сеье, и обвинит в этом Эдит

  5. NICA says:

Oh please Edith, try hard, don’t give up, just a little more
Thanks RJR for your translation, I can’t wait for the next chapters

  6. Ace says:

That’s what we call Karma. How normal Lise/K could be? Treating Life as a joke just because she’s bored.

  7. Belle-chan says:

K is more crazier than I thought. Edith don’t drink that.

  8. Zeel says:

Meh we just hate K all the more now. Anyways, at least we know that there is no separating Lize from K. They really are the same person. Also, I absolutely LOATHE the duke for putting Edith in the freezing dungeon with nothing at all and also hats Killian for doing nothing about it. Where’s the guy who was shouting “if you kill her, I’ll kill you”??

  9. Mai says:

What a horrible monster! 12 people were put through hell just for her entertainment, there’s no punishment hard enough for this.

  10. Lils says:

Is it just me or does nobody know that the K’s backstory was a real life story! Did nobody ever heard of this scandal before? Well except for the isekai part

  11. Adarsh says:

    I knew it, Lise is K, that’s why she’s behaving so weird….

  12. Quaade says:

So, K is J. K. Rowling if she only went insane rather that batshit insane. Guess the “K” makes a lot more sense now. Only wrote one thing that was succesful, it was a multi-part series, other writers sought her analysis, then others became more popular, she started flaming and doxing them, and when she wrote under a different pen name failed utterly.
