I Thought It Was a Common Transmigration

CHAPTER 114

“You don’t love me. You only covet my appearance. What do you know about me that you love?”

“Cliff would have fallen in love with your looks anyway, so why are you denying it so much?”

“Cliff is different! Cliff knows who I am. He is someone who loves me even though he knows my weakest and ugliest sides.”

Shane shrugged his shoulders and laughed at Lise.

“It doesn’t matter anyway. You will be mine today, and Cliff will have no choice but to give you up.”

He then stood up and approached Lise.

“Oh, don’t come!”

“I’m in a bit of a hurry to make you mine, so I apologize if the location doesn’t suit you. Please be patient just for today.”

It was the moment when Lise turned white as she saw his hand reaching out towards her.

Knock, knock.

Someone knocked on the door. Shane, who was about to grab Lise’s forearm, frowned and looked back toward the door.

“Who is this!”

“We have a bit of a problem. I think you should come out for a moment.”

Someone outside spoke urgently. Shane clicked his tongue lowly, turned away from her, and walked toward the door.

“What’s the matter?”

And the moment he opened the door, the person standing outside punched Shane hard in the face.

“Oops!”

At the same time as Shane was lying down, the man outside quickly entered the room, locked the door, and hit Shane on the head while she was crawling on the floor, knocking him out.

“Okay, Cliff…?”

Lise, who was curled up in the corner and shaking, raised her head.

“I’m sorry I’m late, Lise!”

Cliff took down the mask that was covering his face, ran to Lise, and hugged her delicate body.

“Cliff! Cliff!”

Only then did Lise burst into tears and cling to Cliff. Her body was shaking. Cliff swept Lise’s back, blaming Count Rigelhof, Shane, and himself.

“Are you hurt anywhere?”

“Uh, no! But the Duchess…!”

“Mother will be safe too.”

“Then what about Edith?”

“Well. I wonder if her safety was ever threatened.”

“Yes?”

At that time, a ‘bang!’ sound was heard from outside and it suddenly became noisy.

“Right now, the priority is to get out of here. Can you walk?”

“Yes!”

Lise barely stood up, clinging to Cliff’s arm. His legs seemed to be creaking because he was so nervous, but Lise relaxed his stiff body by walking in place. Cliff ripped off Shane’s cloak, made a string out of it, and tied his hands.

“It must be terrible to be with this guy, but just hold on for a moment.”

Then he stood by the door listening to the sounds outside, then opened the door and ran out. Outside the closed door again, the sounds of metal clashing, screams as if desperate, the sound of something hitting the floor bluntly, and the sounds of shouting were all mixed up noisily. And when the sound died down, the door opened again.

“Sorry. You were scared, weren’t you?”

Cliff was still friendly. However, the smell of blood wafted around him. After that, a man who looked like a knight from the Ludwig family came in, and Cliff gestured toward Shane, who was lying on the floor. The knight immediately lifted Shane up and grabbed him.

“Let’s go, Lise.”

“Yes!”

Lise did as Cliff told her to and closed her eyes tightly and hugged him. Cliff held Lise in his arms and headed outside through the hallway where her body was strewn about. After finishing their work, the soldiers dragged the corpses outside, holding them by the backs, and on the other side, the knight carrying the duchess was approaching, protected by other soldiers.

“And rest of it?”

“Maybe because they were mercenaries, the situation was unfavorable, so they quickly ran away. I also caught a woman, but I don’t know what she’s doing.”

Cliff glanced towards the woman who was said to have been captured and then frowned. Because she remembered that she was the maid that Edith had with her.

“Don’t let down your guard. She seems like a maid that Count Rigelhof really cares about.”

And Cliff, who came outside, dropped Lise off in a safe place and then suddenly approached Sophia. And then he asked her as she glared at him fiercely.

“Where did Edith Riegelhoff get taken away?”

Then Sophia laughed bitterly.

“Well.”

“Did you bring him here?”

“Ha! Do you think our young lady would be suitable for a place like this?”

“I will find her wherever you take her and kill her. With her brother.”

“You dirty bastards! Let go of my master! Master! Master!”

“Wow, that’s a lot of loyalty. Or maybe it’s a love affair.”

Cliff lost his attention on Sophia, who was blabbering again.

“You must have arrested the people you want to interrogate separately, right?”

“Yes! It was already strange that they dispersed so quickly, so I tried to pick one up, and he said something strange.”

“What are you talking about?”

“Two guys ran away before we could hit them. They said that when they found out that they had let him go without receiving any money, there was talk among them that they should get rid of it quickly.”

“Only those with good sense saved their lives.”

Cliff saw the Duchess come to his senses after laughing and quickly walked to her side.

“Mother! Mother! Are you out of your mind?”

“Nice… Cliff…?”

“Yes. Rest assured now.”

“Oh, Cliff!”

The Duchess hugged Cliff with tears in her eyes.

“We are going back to the mansion now. Is there anything that makes you feel uncomfortable?”

“I’m okay. What about Lise and Edith?”

“Lise was rescued safely.”

“Edith…?”

The Duchess looked back at Cliff, her face full of worry. But Cliff let out a low sigh towards her and then he said.

“That woman… I think she was a spy.”

“No way!”

“In the first place, she was not even imprisoned like her mother or Lise. It seems like they stole it somewhere else while they were here.”

“Oh, no, that can’t be possible!”

The Duchess clearly remembered Edith screaming for her and fighting back when she was attacked. But at that time, Lise, who was next to her, added in a gloomy voice.

“Now that I think about it, when I first opened my eyes in the place where I was captured, my wife and I were the only ones there.”

The Duchess appeared shocked and covered her mouth with her hand.

“Let’s go to the mansion first and talk. The weather is cold. She might have some injuries.”

Cliff helped the Duchess, who had lost her speech due to shock, to her feet and ordered the knights to her feet.

“I will return! Be very careful not to let the prisoners escape!”

And just like that, Shane’s kidnapping story quickly came to an end.

* * *

‘Ugh, it’s cold…’

It was so cold that it chilled her bones. She slowly opened her eyes to the fierce cold and somewhat eerie feeling. Even when she opened her eyes, it was dark, so for a moment she was startled and thought she was blind. However, she was relieved to find a faint light coming through the crack in the door.

‘It looks like the light has gone out.’

If that amount of time has passed, it seemed like five or six hours have passed at best, so why was she still here?

‘Why is it so quiet?’

She held her breath and listened to the sounds around her, but she didn’t feel like she was being human at all.

“Oh my, ouch!”

Because she was left alone for a long time, she moved her stiff body and made all kinds of noises. Her shoulder was sore that she thought it might have been dislocated, and so were her wrists, which were tied, and her back and neck, which had been bent for a long time.

Of course, the areas where Sophia hit her, such as her face, both forearms, and thighs, also tingled and gave her a sharp pain every time she moved. She endured all the pain and whimpered, trying to free her hands from the ropes that bound her wrists. Thanks to the fact that the mercenary who had tied her up loosened her grip quite a bit,she was able to pull her hand out without being seriously chafed.

‘I’m dying, really. First of all, should I go out?’

She barely managed to get up on the chair and tremble. But even taking one step at a time was extremely painful. As expected, Sophia didn’t use all her strength when she hit her at the mansion. She limped to the door, assessed the presence outside, and only after she was sure that no one was around did she slowly open the door. It was a good thing that Sophia didn’t have time to lock the door. This villa was a two-story building when viewed from the entrance, but when viewed from the other side, it was three or two and a half stories. Thanks to this, even in the basement, there was a window at the top of the wall, and bright sunlight was streaming through it. It was around dawn when she was brought here, so it really felt like five or six hours had passed.

‘But why am I still here!’

She limped up the stairs to the upper floor, one by one. The moment she headed to the ground, the fishy smell of blood assaulted her nose. It felt like her body was stiffening for a moment, but she gritted her teeth and continued to climb up. And the situation on the first floor was miserable.

‘Cliff… I think it came and went…’

There were blood stains on the floor, as if something had been dragged out, as if the corpses had been dragged out, and there were also blood stains on the walls, as if they had been splashed during a fierce battle. She carefully stepped through the blood stains on the floor, checked my surroundings, and slowly went outside. The dirt floor in front of the villa was littered with horse hoof prints, and corpses were neatly laid out on the right side of the villa. It looked like everything had been cleaned up after everything was done.

“No way…”

She looked around blankly and muttered.

“Me… Was it abandoned?”

Even though she said it out loud, it didn’t really feel real.

‘No, if you do this… How does the story progress?’

In the original work, Edith was with Shane’s gang that attacked the mansion and was captured by Cliff, who came to rescue Lise. Of course, with Shane and Sophia. But this time, she was the only one left here, no, she was abandoned.

  5. Llane says:

Regardless of whether or not Edith was a spy, a basic sweep of every room and area of the premises should have been done.
This Cliff guy doesn’t deserve to be Duke. But at the same time, I don’t want Edith to have to relate with he or Lise or the current Duke on a daily basis after this. She’s better off away from them at Killian’s territory.

  6. Reyaemina says:

  11. Kendriss D Hunter says:

I am disappointed with the Duchess. Even when Edith can try to run away while kidnapping is happening. Edith tried to save the Duchess but looks like Duchess is not looking for Edith after 5 to 6 hours later. I mean the Duchess might be in shock during rescue but after 5 to 6 hours later she could have tried to search for Edith even if she doubt Edith. This shows how little she thinks about Edith to completely swayed by little snake lise’s words. I hope Killian is on the way to find Edith.

  12. Kendriss D Hunter says:

Killian is smart and I hope he already heard the news about all this. 5 to 6 hours is enough time for home to assess the situation that cliff must have ignored looking for the Edith in the villa and she still be trapped in villa. What I fear is third condition as there is no notification about it. It means lise have setup something more for Edith.

  13. Anthon says:

    Left her???? Death to Cliff
Thank you for translating!!!! Finally caught up today <3

  14. Mphazi Nambao says:

  15. saya_tee13 says:

God they really abandoned her! I hate the biased Cliff so much! Poor Edith why does she have to suffer so much?
Thank you RJR for the chapter

  16. Zeel says:
