I Thought It Was a Common Transmigration

CHAPTER 090

“<Moonlight Bookstore> receives new popular romance novels the fastest, and <Fiance> sells a lot of really pretty bonnets and parasols. <Pink Cake> sells a lot of cute accessories…”

Lise was surprisingly knowledgeable about Le Belle Marie Street. She thought she had been around a lot, but she unexpectedly told her a sad story.

“<Le Belle Marie Magazine> is published once every three months. I’m just memorizing the store introduction there. Someday, when I have a friend, I should definitely go with them…”

Her heart clenched painfully. Anyone who went out into social circles under the protection of the Duchess or Cliff praised Lise. In particular, the older women view Lise quite kindly. However, it was not the same for the girls of the same age.  To them, Lise was just ‘an illegitimate woman who bewitched Cliff and Killian.’

‘I wish I had a friend so badly that she would have brought me with her.’

No matter how much it was Duke Ludwig’s request, she was the one who ‘stolen’ her sub-male lead. She felt it from before, but it seemed like Lise had given up on getting Killian back. In fact, it was not clear whether the things she seemed to seduce Killian were Lise’s own thoughts, or whether it was the original author’s trick.

“Lise! Let’s go over there.”

She held Lise’s hand and headed to <Fiancée> together. Lise seemed a little taken aback, but she tried to put things on her and found the bonnet that suited her best, and she unfolded one of her parasols in front of her and turned around. The expression on Lise gradually loosened up, and later she clung to her arm and laughed with a clear voice.

‘A little… Are you in a good mood?’

When she thought about it, she could barely remember ever having a friend her own age. It was definitely there until college, but gradually they drifted apart as she went on to work. She couldn’t help it. Unlike her school days, when she could only meet people at school, she needed money to meet friends after graduation, and she didn’t have that money. But now, she was able to spend as much money as she wanted with Lise. That too with the Duke’s money!

‘Once again, long live the noble possession!’

As she was enjoying life with money and friends, Lise, who was looking around, whispered in her ear.

“Edith. Do you like romance novels that are a little bit erotic?”

“Ugh, I can’t say I have it. Have you read <The Secret Seduction of Mrs. Graham>?”

“Oh! Has Edith read that too?”

“Anna recommended it. It was very hot, wasn’t it?”

Lise and she giggled again.

“Actually, <Moonlight Bookstore>, which I mentioned earlier, is famous as a romance novel, but <Milan Bookstore> is more famous for quirky romance novels. Would you like to go with me?”

“This is really useful information, Lise. Let’s go quickly.”

She nodded at her, almost snorting. In fact, <The Secret Temptation of Mrs. Graham>, which she read last time, was a 19+ romance novel that was so interesting that she thought it would be a hit even if it was published in Korea in the 21st century. Perhaps because there was no 19+ rule in this era, the scenes were very… It was very hot.

“That… It would be a bit embarrassing if the maids found out, so let’s go alone. If this news gets to Cliff, I’ll be in a bit of trouble.”

Lise was embarrassed and held her hands together. Heh, Cliff’s was a character expressed as having a strong monopoly and obsession, but was he jealous that his girlfriend was reading a 19+ romance novel? However, if women from aristocratic families who have to live at home all day couldn’t even read 19+ romance, that was too much!

“Great. I’ll tell Anna.”

She called Anna and gave her some pocket money, saying, ‘I need to go buy some interesting books, so take Lise’s maid and watch her nearby.’

“Aren’t you sure it’s dangerous?”

“It’s a bookstore located a little further down an alley. How could there be any danger? I heard Lise’s position is a bit awkward, so please take Anna with her to kill some time.”

“All right. Don’t go into places that are too dark.”

“Yea, I got it.”

Just like that, Lise and she walked towards <Millane Bookstore> just the two of them. <Millane Bookstore> was located not on the main street of Le Belle Marie, but in an alley next to it.

“I guess the books they sell are a bit different…”

Lise squinted her eyes as if she knew better, and she nodded at her and entered. Inside the bookstore, several girls wearing scarves were carefully selecting books.

‘The passion for 19+ doesn’t discriminate between times and places.’

If they come across the e-book market in Korea in the 21st century, they would probably be shocked. If she hadn’t had limited pocket money, she would have stayed up all night for many days.

“Then, let’s look around the bookstore and choose a book to buy, then let’s meet in front of the checkout counter.”

Lise seemed embarrassed and asked to be torn apart for a moment.

“All right.”

It might be difficult to share your taste for 19+ with someone you just became friends with. So she understood Lise, who was quiet and shy. As she watched Lise’s back moving away from the bookshelf, she also looked through the shelves with her heart pounding.

‘It’s inconvenient because there is no keyword system here. It’s all organized by author’s name.’

Frowning her brows, she took out the book she saw in front of her and slurped it over.

[…Erpia could not bear the heat of her body.

“Ah, just a little more…!”

“You look so innocent, but you like being roughed up, princess.”

The guard knight Raphael taunted Erfia, and she grabbed her waist and went faster…]

“Whoa…”

While reading up to that point, she swallowed hard.

‘I’ll have to buy this.’

She felt a sense of destiny from the first book she picked up. She took out <Hageuksang Series 3 – Princess and Guard Knight> and put it on her side.

‘Shall we see something else?’

She looked through the shelves, looking for a title she liked, and picked up <The Secret Service of Sarah the Maid>.

‘As expected, it is the story of a night between a maid and her master.’

It felt a little boring, but she liked it because the male protagonist was portrayed in a very sexy way. Besides, it was a single novel, so there was no burden. With that book also stuck to her side, she slowly walked around the shelves again. Had an hour passed like that?

‘If I stay too long and leave, Anna will be in trouble, so shall we go back now?’

At her side were four books with embarrassing titles. Actually, she wanted to buy more, but she couldn’t because she was afraid that Killian or other people would notice. She took the books and put them on the counter, then searched the bookstore to find Lise.

‘Huh? Where are you?’

The bookstore was so packed with shelves that it felt like a maze, but it wasn’t so much that she couldn’t find a single person. But no matter where she searched, she couldn’t find Lise.

‘What? Where did you go?’

The bookstore owner looked at her strangely as she walked around the bookstore and asked bluntly:

“Is this all true?”

“Ah, that, yes. Calculate it for once. But by any chance, did the lady who came with me pay the bill first and then leave?”

“Who is the lady who came with you?”

“Uh… Just by looking at it, there must have been a very pretty girl. She has blonde hair and blue eyes. Anyway, she’s very pretty.”

“Well. Among the people who bought books in the last hour, there wasn’t anyone who was that strikingly beautiful.”

If Lise had paid for the book, there was no way that blunt cashier wouldn’t have remembered it. Because she was the most beautiful woman in the world.

‘It seems like Lise left first. Why did she leave without saying anything?’

Had Cliff by any chance appeared on Le Belle Marie Street? So Lise’s maid hurriedly found Lise, and Lise might have left her alone because she was too focused. Anyway, Anna would be waiting for her when she went out to Le Belle Marie Street, so there was no problem. She paid for four books and left the slightly dark <Millane Bookstore>. It was a bit bleak outside the bookstore.

‘When I came here with Lise earlier, I had no idea it was such a dark place…’

The street looked even more gloomy because of the overcast weather, so she moved her legs a little faster towards the main street of Le Belle-Marie Street. But when she was almost at the end of the alley, a man suddenly appeared and blocked her path.

“Oh my god… Are you really here?”

A fleshy body, a pale, greasy face, and, as expected, thick brown hair… He was a man who looked to be in his mid to late 20s, and he seemed to be a nobleman.

“What, what is it?”

“It’s been a while, Edith.”

At first glance, he seemed like a man with a slight taste, but he seemed to know her.

“Who…?”

“Flaw… hehe… you must have forgotten me. No matter how broken I am because of you.”

“Yes? No, I mean, who are you?”

She became a little bold as people were passing by just a few steps away. There was also a calculation that if she raised her voice, someone would notice her. But the man didn’t seem to have the spirit to realize that.

“This is Fred Sicily. Viscount Sicily’s son, the man you threw away as soon as you got all the information about the railroad construction in the Armov area.”

“…yes?”

She ran her head furiously and searched for Fred Sicily in Edith’s memories.

‘Oh, my God.’

Fortunately, she was able to find it in her memory, but it was not a very hopeful memory for her. Fred Sicily wasn’t a very attractive man, as you see now, and even timid. A man like that couldn’t have been popular with women.

I knew this would happen. That bitch Lise…I so want to strangle her. She’s making my blood boil. I’m worried that Killian might believe Lise’s lies than Edith’s because this scenario might trigger doubt in Killian’s part because of her entanglement with other men in the past.

Eu sinceramente espero que seja assim.

  7. yuffyblade says:

I dont believe this Edith. Even after Killian warned her. I feel this is out of character for Edith. Asking the maids to go wouldve raised red flags to the real Edith. This Edith is too complacent, I dont like it. The Edith I know wouldve run scenarios in her head and she would still be careful even with Lise just to avoid her being killed (plus she already knows it could happen aside from Killian killing her)

  8. trouxa says:

Did something happen? Where is chapter 91?

  9. LX says:

Yeah, Edith seems way out of character here. I hate when authors make their characters do things they would’nt do to move the plot in an un-natural way to create another conflict. What they should have done was made the knight stand guard either outside the building or end of alley way and have their maids still go with them but they get distracted or held up somewhere.
The first flag Edith picked up on was lise inviting her out alone, she got that and felt it was strange, but she completely ignored the second which was lise suggesting to go alone by themselves down a dark?? alley to a bookstore?, then the third flag was lise disappearing the moment they entered the building???

This chaper has been the most frustrating to read

  10. Zeel says:

Oh my god this is the most generic disappointing disaster ever. Edith how could you just go off with Lize alone after everything that happened???
