I Played the Role of the Adopted Daughter Too Well

CHAPTER 126

No matter how many times she had read <The Shadow of Bellato>, not everything went as she planned. That was exactly the case now.

“No matter how you look at it, she’s still a child!”

A huge man came running towards them looking like an angry bull running wild.

‘He’s really big!’

He must have been at least 2.5 meters tall (8.2 feet). But more than being tall, this was Viola’s first time seeing someone with such magnificent muscles and bones.

‘He’s an absolute giant.’

It was exactly as described in the novel. It wasn’t just that he was big, it seemed that each and every cell of his body was made of muscle.

‘Indeed… It could even be said that his brain cells are made of muscle.’

On his head, he wore a helmet with horns and his bushy red sideburns were a distinguishing character feature. On his shoulder rested a very large mace.

‘Mercenary King Kaiser.’

Viola felt a sharp pain in her head. Kaiser was not a villain. To be honest, he was close to being a ‘good guy.’ The problem was that his mind was a flower garden. It was expressed like this in the author’s character setting book.

[Feature 1. Loves children and animals.]

[Feature 2. Has the most durable body in the world.]

[Feature 3. A brain made of muscle, with a mental landscape like a flower garden, but that’s not a bad thing.]

[Feature 4. A master of thorough diet management. Eats only chicken breast, lean beef, and some fish (meats that are high in protein but low in calories).]

It was a character with a setting roughly like this.

“I’m going to have to give you a real scolding!”

Kaiser suddenly started running forward. It seemed like a rhino charging.

“Zenon, can you stop that guy?”

“He has already started charging forward. I could stop him but I think I would get seriously injured. Shall I stop him?”

“No, that’s okay.”

Viola’s plan went awry when Kaiser appeared. From his perspective, the Six Magic Towers’ intruder defense system was ‘an enemy that harasses children.’

“That’s the Mercenary King Kaiser, right? What did you tell me previously? He also serves as the head of a children’s happiness organization?”

“Yes, I think it’s Kaiser.”

Usually, in this world, when giving an honorific title, you use ‘Sir.’ However, Kaiser was a character who hated nobility and preferred to be called ‘Mister’ instead of ‘Sir.’

“Is he mad at the magic system right now?”

“Yes, because it harassed a child.”

“Is he seriously getting angry at an inanimate object?”

“It seems so.”

Zenon smiled.

Magic bullets were fired at Kaiser’s body as he ran like a mad rhino, and several magic traps tried to capture him.

“Ha! These things don’t even tickle!”

Kaiser’s body was surrounded by an invisible mana barrier, and none of the magic tower’s defense systems could defeat Kaiser.

“Pay for the crime of harassing a child with death!”

Huh!

Kaiser swung his huge mace and a strong wind rose, striking the outer wall of the Magic Towers. The magic circles engraved on that wall exploded. At the same time, Kaiser slammed his massive body against the wall. After colliding, he continued to strike the wall with his mace.

Kugwagwagwang!

It felt like thunder. Soon there were cracks in the wall and a section of it collapsed. Kaiser turned his body around with a satisfied smile.

“Everyone dies like this! Yes. Everyone!”

Even though the magic circles and magic weapons were inanimate, I thought they had killed him anyway. Viola was able to read Kaiser’s inner thoughts.

‘Wow, I was so cool.’

He must have been thinking this way because amazingly, even though Viola didn’t have the ability to read inner thoughts, his inner feelings were clear enough for her to understand.

“Zenon. They will see it as if Kaiser and I are on the same side, right?”

“Yes. From the Magic Towers’ perspective, you will be recognized as a colleague.”

In fact, the primary defense system of the outer wall was a mere warning system. Once the primary defense system collapsed, the secondary defense system would emerge, and that was the real deal.

“Does Kaiser understand the concepts of first and second defenses?”

“I don’t think he knows. Or even if he knows, he doesn’t care.”

“Should we run away first?”

“Actually, I wanted to suggest that.”

“Carry me.”

Zenon held Viola in his arms. No matter how fast Viola ran, she could never be faster than Zenon.

“I will take you safely.”

Viola almost fainted.

‘Uuuuuu! You’re too fast!’

The rides at an amusement park were nothing. The fast and thrilling T Express of Everland was nothing.

Editor’s Note: T Express is supposedly the longest, fastest, tallest, steepest, roller coaster in Asia, at South Korea’s latest theme park, Everland, in Yongin.

Here, a human could run faster… Viola was reminded again that this was a fantasy world. It wasn’t until they arrived at a place with thick bushes that the rice fields that had been zipping past, stopped in place.

“I’ll put you down.”

Viola’s legs buckled and she almost fell, however, through sheer willpower, she kept her composure on the outside.

“I’m guessing that the reason their secondary defense system didn’t activate right away is because I’m a princess of Bellato, right?”

“That is very likely.”

Although they did not allow Viola to enter, they were probably aware of her presence. The Magic Towers’ magic automatically recognized Viola, and it was clear that it had delayed the activation of its secondary defense system to prevent any trouble from occurring.

“Kaiser?”

“Well, firstly, it looks like he’s not dead.”

The sound of pounding footsteps was heard. A man completely tanned from head to toe appeared before her.

“Are you okay?”

‘He doesn’t look any worse for wear.’

If she could, Viola would hit Kaiser’s head! It was to the point where she wanted to crush it but his head was too high.

‘His body is completely fine.’

His white teeth were revealed, contrasting with his tanned skin.

“What did you think? Was I cool?”

Viola suddenly felt tired. Now that she was recognized as an intruder of the Magic Towers, it became more difficult for her to enter.

‘If I wasn’t a Princess of Bellato, I would have died, right?’

“Hmph, the Magic Towers’ magic is no big deal. Eh? But wait! Are you a noble?”

“He knows it when he sees it.”

Viola’s unusual dress. Clear skin that had not been scorched by the sun. Beautiful flowing hair. All of these were things that only nobles could enjoy.

“How could I not know by looking at you? I don’t have to be an omniscient god.”

Suddenly, there was an incredibly loud growling sound.

“Do you have any chicken breast?”

* * *

First, they decided to make a bonfire and set up camp. As she listened to Kaiser’s explanation, it was just like the Kaiser in the novel.

“…So you’re lost?”

“It’s a common occurrence for adventurers.”

Kaiser said he had gotten lost and came across Viola while wandering around looking for food.

“There are no monsters or animals that can be used as food around the Magic Towers. It’s an area managed by magic.”

“But there must at least be something!”

“Be honest. You didn’t know it was the territory of the Magic Towers, right?”

Kaiser picked his ear as if asking what was wrong with that.

“This region is a mess. Any place I stretch my legs is my land.”

Whatever road he walked and wherever he slept was his home. Kaiser lived his life like that. Things like ‘the territory of the Magic Towers’ should only be given to goblins.

“I seem to have been mistaken for being colleagues with you.”

“You want to be colleagues?”

“That’s not what I meant.”

“Ah! Are you asking for an autograph?”

Viola’s feelings became complicated as she saw Kaiser muttering, “Oh, I don’t have a pen today.”

“Zenon, are there any pursuers from the Magic Towers?”

“There’s no one. However, it seems like a bill for damages will be sent to Bellato.”

Right. Viola felt a headache coming on. She was already suffering from migraines at the age of 13. She was sad because she felt like she had been hit by so many ups and downs in this world.

“Hey. They attacked first, so why should we pay compensation?”

Kaiser was seriously angry.

“Do they think I won’t be a brat because I’m a nice person? I just have to go and destroy everything.”

“Mister, come to your senses. The opponent is the Magic Towers.”

“So what?! I’m stronger.”

Viola was speechless. In some ways, Kaiser was a more difficult opponent to deal with than Heron.

“I told you. They know my identity. The wizards of the Magic Towers could track us down and kill us.”

“Why would I die? They’ll die.”

His face, which had regained its original hue, turned red again. He seemed even angrier.

“And would they kill a child? They really aren’t good people!”

Even God couldn’t forgive harming children. He continued to mutter like that.

“Aren’t you afraid of the Magic Towers?”

“Not at all! Why, are you afraid of the Magic Towers? Then I’ll destroy them!”

Viola sighed, thinking that she would soon be under attack again.

“Aren’t you afraid of anything?”

“Of course not.”

“Really?”

“Really.”

Kaiser was confident. Viola turned her gaze towards Zenon.

“Your mobile snack warehouse.”

“Alright.”

Zenon took out a mobile snack warehouse from his subspace pocket. It was a specially custom-made snack bag. Viola’s favorite snacks, including egg tarts and pudding, were stored in this pocket. Viola held up a stack of pancakes with lots of maple syrup and whipped cream along with some mango juice.

“Aren’t you scared?”

Kaiser broke into a cold sweat. He was sitting down, but in the next instant, he had already moved a few steps backward.

“Fuck! Get it away!”

High calories. High carbohydrates. High fat. High sugar. These were Kaiser’s greatest fears in the world.

Viola said after taking a bite of her pancakes.

“Look. You’re scared of something, too.”

Viola let out a sigh of relief as she saw Kaiser swallowing real saliva in fear, not just drooling.

“How about learning something called consideration?”

The way he treated children was too one-sided.

“Not everyone is like you.”

Viola was a true reader of <The Shadow of Bellato> and she decided to teach this mercenary king, who was kind and strong, but a little (a lot) lacking. What consequences this would result in, Viola did not know at the time.
