How to Feed an Abyss!

Confession (2)

Chapter 48.2 – Confession

The next day.

The cranky Lin Yeran was cursing again in the office, cursing and cursing, when his eyes were drawn to a tail that was high up in the air.

—The tip of the tail was even swaying happily.

“Shi Yuan.” Lin Yeran asked suspiciously, “Why are you so happy today? You looked silly and happy all morning. Does my cursing make you so happy?”

“No, it’s not.” Shi Yuan said, “I’m happy because of other things!”

Daisy, next to him, pinched her nose: “Stop talking, a woman’s intuition tells me that you have a sour smell of love.”

Shi Yuan obviously didn’t understand the sinister nature of human beings, and he didn’t know that if he behaved ecstatic when the leader was cursing, he would be called to drink tea.

He was called into the office alone by Lin Yeran.

Lin Yeran gritted his teeth: “You will definitely not be the outstanding employee next month.”

Shi Yuan: “Okay.”

The tip of his tail wagged frantically.

Lin Yeran: “Your performance bonus is also in danger!”

Shi Yuan: “Okay.”

The tip of the tail continued to shake.

Lin Yeran could not stand it: “What good things have you encountered? Tell me, let me open my eyes!”

Shi Yuan didn’t want to reveal Lu Tinghan’s identity, so he said, “I’m in love.”

Lin Yeran was obviously taken aback.

Shi Yuan: “Although I still have a lot of things I don’t understand, I am very happy because…there seems to be a difference.”

“…of course, it’s different,” Lin Yeran said slowly, “Of course, it’s different.”

Shi Yuan looked at him: Why? What exactly is the difference?”

The hour hand pointed to 1 o’clock with a “click”, and Lin Yeran patted the table: “Your break is over, go back to work! Hurry up, hurry up! Go, go!”

Shi Yuan returned to his desk and continued to answer the phone.

Before long, the alarm sounded again, and people flocked to the underground shelter.

They said that a new special infected creature called “Leaping Antelope” had appeared near the main city. It was a sturdy creature that resembled an antelope in appearance and came with a tidal wave of beasts.

The commander-in-chief of the main city was Su Enqi, and Lu Tinghan was only responsible for assisting.

Shi Yuan listened to the war situation broadcast every day, just to hear Lu Tinghan’s name appear. The battle was not ideal, they suffered several defeats, but the army did not suffer massive attrition and did not have serious consequences.

Shi Yuan began to hear gossip again.

About Su Enqi.

“He’s really not right these past few years. The main thing is that there is no harm without comparison, my cousin is a military fan, who used to be a soldier, and said that some of General Su’s decisions are really inferior to General Lu’s.”

“Hey? That’s weird, he’s obviously the teacher.”

“There is a saying that green is born of blue, but beats blue. The teacher leads the way in, it’s a good thing that the disciples later take over and excel. However, wouldn’t it be better to let General Lu command more? I feel that in the past few years, he has become more and more powerful.”

“That’s right, it used to be too busy, now we’re down to two cities and one of the most powerful generals is enough. Of course, General Su is very good, but why don’t we want the best person.”

“It’s not that simple, is General Su really willing to abdicate? This also involves the issue of military power. General Lu is too young, and his foundation with other officers may not be strong. Besides, they used to be teachers and students…”

“Never mind all that! As long as I survive, it doesn’t matter whoever takes command!”

These small voices, in the following days, were constantly amplified.

The “Leaping Antelope” was solved.

The two generals worked together and contributed greatly, but they did not curb the rumors. The voices of those who wanted Lu Tinghan to take full command were getting louder and louder.

As soon as the alarm was over, Shi Yuan rushed over to find Lu Tinghan.

They had just been together and were forced to be separated for several weeks, which was too hard.

Lu Tinghan had just returned to the military base in Fengyang City. Shi Yuan was taken by the guards at the entrance of the base to the top floor of a gray building.

For some reason, the entire building was emptied, and Shi Yuan was an exception.

The top floor was empty, and the largest room was full of guards, and the atmosphere was unusual. Shi Yuan walked a few steps forward and saw Lu Tinghan through the half-concealed door.

To be precise, it was Lu Tinghan and five or six other people.

—If Shi Yuan had enough common sense, he would recognize that the five or six people were all well-known generals with outstanding merits and real power.

The corridor was dim, and the room was not bright. Lu Tinghan was sitting on the chair in the middle, holding a cigarette in his hand, and talking to someone with his head tilted, the listener bowed slightly to him.

This was the first time Shi Yuan saw Lu Tinghan smoking.

Usually, Lu Tinghan didn’t touch cigarettes and alcohol, unlike now, a freshly lit cigarette produced a faint white smoke.  The generals in black uniforms stood around him, leaning over or lowering their eyes, a few lights shone obliquely on their bodies, the shadows were very strong, and the men’s facial features were deep and cold.

It was like a black-and-white oil painting with dark tones, cold and chilling. The few colors were orange-red cigarette butts, Lu Tinghan’s dazzling gold medal, and his gray-blue eyes.

Shi Yuan felt uneasy.

He couldn’t tell the reason, but he felt that this group of people seemed to be planning something. At this moment, Lu Tinghan was very much like the cold general when they first met.

He stood at the door for less than a second before he was taken away by the guards and went to the next room.

He waited for a long, long time until he fell asleep, and only then did Lu Tinghan come over to him.

“Shi Yuan,” Lu Tinghan stood at the door and called him.

“…hmm?” Shi Yuan raised his head in a daze.

Now Lu Tinghan was the Lu Tinghan he was familiar with… or Lu Tingting.

Lu Tinghan said, “Let’s go, let’s go home.” He stretched out his hand very naturally, lifted Shi Yuan up, and took him towards the corridor.

Lu Tinghan also asked, “What do you want to eat today? The canned food in the shelter is definitely not delicious.”

“That’s right.” Shi Yuan woke up. “It’s really bad! Obviously, they were all canned beans, but they had been in the shelter for too long, and the beans were all soaked to shreds.”

Lu Tinghan said “Hmm”: “I can imagine. Then we have to eat something good tonight.”

“What are we going to eat?” Shi Yuan’s eyes lit up, “I’ve been eating canned food for a long time.”

“Anything is fine.” Lu Tinghan said with a smile. “It depends on what you like to eat. I still have this ability to support my family.”

Shi Yuan was happy for a while, and he didn’t think of the scene in the conference room until he got into Lu Tinghan’s car.

He nestled in Lu Tinghan’s arms and asked cautiously: “Lu Tinghan, just now…what were you discussing with those people?”

“Nothing.” Lu Tinghan said, “It’s a trivial matter.”

Shi Yuan: “Really?”

“Hmm.” Lu Tinghan kissed Shi Yuan’s hair.

Shi Yuan suddenly got a kiss and smiled.

—The happiness of the abyss was back!

Yet in the midst of the happiness, he seemed to understand something else.

He felt that Lu Tinghan was lying.

Lu Tinghan taught him the first lesson.

Perhaps love was when a cold person put away their sharp edges and gave their softest side to the other.
