Would You Like to Have a Drink

Chapter 39.2

Under normal circumstances, the positions in Qingsi would follow strict rules and order.

Emperor Yuan stood at the front, followed by his princes. According to the ranking, the rest of the imperial family should be below, and the court ministers should be arranged according to their official positions.

There were also not many people with the Zong surname in the imperial clan, and in Emperor Yuan’s generation, there was none left. Therefore, below with the princes, besides Yu Beizhou, the only child with a different surname, it was then directly followed by the ministers, with Imperial Censor Xue, Pei Qianxue and Tai Wei, these Sangong in the lead. As for the princesses, concubines and other female relatives, they were praying for blessings and performing witch dances on the other side, and were not with them.

(t/n: Taiwei-the highest official in charge of the military at the central government in ancient China. He was the highest military officer in the country and was in charge of the military and political affairs of the world.)

(t/n: Sangong-the collective name of the three most prestigious official positions in the Qin Dynasty in China)

Everyone knew what the step Zong Luo was standing on meant.

If a crown prince was established, it would naturally be the crown prince’s position. If the crown prince was not yet established, according to the order of seniority, the position would be for the Third Prince.

The Third Prince of Great Yuan, who died in Hangu Pass last year and was mourned by the whole country, surprisingly was still alive and well!

“How is this possible…”

Zong Yongliu almost lost his voice, but luckily he reacted in time and lowered his tone.

Standing on the side, Yu Beizhou crossed his arms and stared at Zong Luo’s back, “How is it impossible?”

The Sixth Prince’s henchmen quickly followed up, “Sixth Highness, let alone whether he really is, as long as His Majesty says he is, then he is.”

These days Zong Yongliu tried his best to win over Yu Beizhou, which was more torturous and tiring than pursuing a young lady of one’s family.

It’s just that the King of Beining’s attitude towards him was fluctuating, often cold and indifferent, but occasionally he would give him a drop of sweetness to eat. For example, a few days ago, in the hunting competition, he unexpectedly agreed to Zong Yongliu’s peer invitation as a referee. It made Zong Yongliu and his followers, from top to bottom, tremble every day, pondering the thoughts of the King of Beining.

Anyhow, Zong Yongliu still wanted to win over Yu Beizhou.

He had already calculated this situation. It was said that all the Baitie of the fifth brother had been returned, and Zong Chengsi, who was quite interesting to Yu Beizhou, simultaneously had not even seen a single glimpse of the latter.

(t/n Baitie-a famous post used when visiting others; name posts used when visiting others)

Although he was stabbed several times by the King of Beining at the Baijia Banquet that day, made him lose face, who could tell if this unpredictable person was just simply trying to see if he could take on the big responsibility?

At least among the princes, Yu Beizhou and him were the closest.

Thus Zong Yongliu hurriedly said, “What His Highness said is very true.”

As for about the Third Prince, contrary to what was expected, Emperor Yuan didn’t say a word more.

If the Third Prince really came back, he should at least explain it, but if he wouldn’t explain it, and simply directly asked someone to go up, everyone wouldn’t be able to understand the intention anymore.

Silently following behind Zong Yongliu, Zong Hongjiu, who overheard their conversation, lowered his head and stared at the ground, his pupils suddenly contracting.

Yes, whether it is true or not, as long as father emperor says yes, then he is.

So, the conversation I overheard in the Zhang Palace last time……

Zong Hongjiu only felt dizzy and didn’t dare to think further.

It turns out that the heir that father emperor has always preferred was actually the Third Prince?

He was horrified and frightened, and realized that he might have accidentally found out a terrible secret.

“Your Highness, there is no need to worry too much.”

At this moment, the henchman spoke again in a low voice, “This subject has heard before about this amnesiac and blind student that has become very popular recently. Even if he is the Third Prince, with his appearance now………it is absolutely hopeless. Your Highness, it is better to make a plan earlier. If you can take advantage of his amnesia…..you can be more of a helping hand.”

Now everyone was moving around and changing positions. Although there were voices that covered up the sound, under the big crowd, the henchman still did not dare to speak clearly. In short, the people who already understood, understood.

Zong Yongliu responded, looking at Zong Chengsi’s back in front of him, his face was a little more sinister.

Previously, he couldn’t figure out why the Fourth Imperial Brother had been paying so much attention to this student, and even sent him a pill. Now it seems that Zong Chengsi probably got the news a long time ago, even earlier than him.

He’s really hidden deep enough.

On the other side, Zong Luo, who was standing behind Emperor Yuan, seemed oblivious to the surge of the dark tide below.

No matter whether these people were ‘l won’t believe it even if you kill me’, or were already well aware or some other cases, even if Emperor Yuan expressed his stance, as long as he would not publicly admit that he’s the Third Prince, the people below could only hold back.

This was also the route Zong Luo planned for himself earlier.

As long as his eyes would not heal for a day, he would not need to stand in the center of the tempest circle of the seizing of the throne, but instead could sit idle and enjoy the fruits of others’ work, going through the previous life’s Gongsun You’s series of skills and trick.

Just as he was silently contemplating, the first stage of Qingsi had come to an end.

Zong Luo was about to slowly retreat along with the crowd when suddenly a majestic and cold voice came from in front of him.

“Keep up.”

He remained silent for a moment, yet he still lifted his foot, and continued behind with a step, following Emperor Yuan from the rear.

I’m starting to wonder if the Emperor exiled ZL to “save” him from a worse fate. Maybe the Witch Doctor told him that YBZ would become the next Emperor no matter what and that once YBZ ascended, he would do “unspeakable things” to ZL. So the Emperor forced ZL away from the capital to save his life, then forced him to kill himself “with dignity” believing that the alternative was a fate worse than death.
