“You only have me because I’m the daughter of House Trayla, and the woman you love is a lowly noble with nothing.”

The reason I couldn’t tell home was because I was sure nothing would change. Would it have been better if I had run away?

 

What made her miserable, holding on to the illusions she wanted to believe?

A low, gravelly voice said, and a long-haired man appeared opposite her.

 

“It’s fine, I knew I wouldn’t be able to hide it forever anyway.”

“Yeah, if that’s what you want.”

 

Riley’s silver hair turned black at the man’s touch.

 

Her vision went black, and she felt a dull ache in her heart. She closed her eyes, still, and tears streamed from her eyes.

 

She didn’t even know why she was crying.
