What Does That Evil Dragon Live For?

“I am Elaine. Elaine Newt.”

“Didn’t you just hear me?”

“If we meet again next time, it will be more pleasant to say hello by name.”

Her clear peridot-colored eyes glowed warmly even in the cold winter sun.

Like a weed, after being trampled to the ground so many times, springs back to life with the first glimpse of sunlight, Elaine was a person who didn’t easily give up hope and kept a smile despite the hardships that followed throughout her life.

That much was the same as the Lancers.

“Serge Lindel.”

Serge spits out the name he had been trying to keep a secret for a while.

It was a bit of a misshapen plan, but Rabes felt good when he saw Elaine smiling and saying she would remember it.

‘L’Arch, it would have been great if only that guy hadn’t come.’

Elaine also found it strange, but L’Arch was the only human who behaved completely differently than before returning.

The human who ignored Elaine’s affection in the previous life and used her for his own benefit, this time doesn’t take his attention away from Elaine.

Rabes was very displeased with that.

Because he was the person Rabes hated the most.

‘You don’t realize the value of something until it’s gone, and even then, instead of reflecting on it, you try to take it back, believing it’s yours. Selfish things!’

Fortunately, Elaine seemed to have any more feelings for L’Arch. She even told him that Serge was more handsome than L’Arch.

Rabes skipped it playfully, but if he hadn’t turned into a dragon, Elaine might have noticed his reddened earlobes.

But Rabes, ignoring the strange feeling he had, came up with the brilliant but futile idea that he should take this opportunity to figure out Elaine’s ideal type and find a good partner for her.

‘I was a little taken aback by Elaine’s answer, though.’

“Mmm…I want someone who really loves me. Someone who is kind and doesn’t hurt me.”

Rabes didn’t know much about love between a human man and a woman.

‘I know that being kind isn’t just about you giving her a lot of things, and I know that not hurting isn’t just about not hitting her.’

However, it’s not known how to make it a “kind and painless love.”

So, Rabes insisted on the conditions of the ‘great mate’ he knew.

[The first criterion for animals to choose their mates is when they can keep their nests properly, First of all, you have to be strong. You have to bring the food well. Next, you should set a good example for your offspring and be a strong protective shield until they become adults. In the case of animals, of course, you have to be faithful to your mate.]

Of course, it wasn’t easy.

‘I can fulfill them all, but it would be harsh on a human being to use me as a comparison.’

‘Shouldn’t I try my best? She’s not good enough, and if I don’t pick her partner, she’ll suffer from being caught by a strange guy like she did in her previous life.’

Rabes was seriously thinking about it, but Elaine was just laughing by his side. At that moment, he felt a little down.

‘There are so many things I need to take care of before taking revenge on this human.’

Rabes felt sorry for himself, saying that it was hard work having such a cute contractor.

And the next day, the Newt family, which had been quiet for a long time, became noisy.

“What is going on?”

Elaine, who was going to read a book after being treated for her swollen hand by the doctor L’Arch had brought, tilted her head as she saw all the servants of the Newt family walking around outside the window.

[Why?]

“No…people are all out…there must be something going on.”

[It’s not something you should worry about, right?]

“I think so.”

Elaine nodded and looked back at the book.

But suddenly, without knocking, the door slammed open.

Startled, Elaine turned her head in surprise, and there was an angry Rubaine and a crying Ellie standing there.

“Uncle…?What are you doing?”

“You you! Where were you today?”

“yes? I’ve been in this room the whole time.”

“Don’t lie! Did you lock Martin in the shed?”

It was a nonsense.

Elaine was stunned and almost speechless, but she came to her senses thanks to a pat on the cheek from Rabes.

“If you doubt it, ask L’Arch and the doctor he brought with him. I was just being treated by him.”

Only then did Rubane’s gaze turn to Elaine’s hands wrapped in bandages.

At first glance, it was quite swollen, so it seemed difficult to lock the shed shutters with that kind of hand.

“What do you mean, Martin’s locked in the shed?”

“None of your business! Damn it…Elaine, if it wasn’t you, who did it!”

Rubaine gritted his teeth in anger, then looked Elaine up and down and grunted.

“Don’t even step out of this room today! If I see you, I can let you go!”

He’s angry at Elaine for something she doesn’t understand, and he’s punishing her for something she knows wasn’t her fault.

Although she was always hurt in her previous life, she was able to remain calm now that she already knew that Rubaine was a cowardly and despicable person. So she doesn’t expect anything from him.

“Yes, I will.”

Rubaine looked disapprovingly at Elaine, who nodded his head without showing any signs of fear, so he quickly turned away.

And Ellie, who remained in the same spot, sniffed and asked.

“Are you sure you didn’t do that?”

Instead of answering, Elaine showed her bandaged hands to Ellie again.

“Can you tell me what the hell is going on first? What do you mean, Martin’s locked up in the shed?”

“Everyone was looking around the house because Martin hadn’t been seen since morning! You live in the same house and don’t know that?”

“Because of L’Arch, I couldn’t leave this room and waited for the doctor. If you want to argue, ask L’Arch.”

As soon as L’Arch’s name was mentioned, Ellie’s energy subsided.

“So, did you find Martin?”

“Yes! Someone locked the shed while Martin went into the shed to pick up the saddle to ride his colt, so Martin was stuck there for half a day.”

“Martin doesn’t know who did it?”

“He don’t know. No matter how much he shouted, no one came.…He said he was very scared because the shed was dark.  Brother Martin, he cried a lot!”

It was a bit funny that Martin, who turned 18 this year, had cried over just such a thing, but before that, Elaine felt a strange deja vu.

‘Martin, who locked me up in the morgue yesterday, was locked up in a warehouse? Is it a coincidence…?’

Elaine thought it was strange, but just nodded.

“Then why did you come and question me?”

“There’s no one else who would take revenge like this other than Elaine!”

“You mean you know what you did to me yesterday?”

At those words, Ellie’s mouth closed.

“I don’t know who did it, but I hope you and Damon get locked up at least once. Then you would know how I felt.”

“I, I don’t want to!”

“I didn’t want to be locked up like that either. There was even a corpse in the morgue yesterday.”

“Hee!”

Elaine didn’t even say that she would lock her there, but Ellie got very scared and ran away.

Elaine, who was looking out from behind, quietly closed the door and looked back at Rabes.

“It is very strange. The last time Martin got hit by a cupcake, and this time too.…I feel like he was getting back what he did to me.”

[That’s right. Aren’t you really a saint? I wonder if God is protecting you.]

 “No way…”

Elaine was suspicious of Rabes for a moment, but her suspicions were erased when he seemed to be more curious than Elaine.

‘Does my regression have anything to do with it? It’s strange….’

While Elaine kept tilting her head, Rabes asked.

[But are you serious about what you said earlier?]

“yes? What?”

[You said that it would be nice if the girl and the kid right above her were locked up somewhere.]

Elaine jumped up, not knowing that Rabes was listening carefully to that part.

“No! I’m just trying to scare her! Of course, they’re bad guys, but they’re still young. Being trapped somewhere can be a lifelong wound.”

[But those guys locked you up.]

“There is no need to increase the number of wounded children.”

[Phew! It’s not fun.]

Rabes licked his lips, regretting the revenge that ended by locking Martin up in a shed.

The fl is starting to really annoy me now.

I feel you, I really do, I’d prefer a FL with a bit of fire and desire for revenge as well. However, I would say that this FL is the most human-like time traveler I’ve read. She’s an adult and views those kids as just that – kids. She doesn’t place them on the same level as herself, and while she does enjoy getting one over them sometimes, it’s less that she’s happy to have won against children and more that she’s happy to have proof that she’s not the same pushover from before she time-travelled. She acts like an adult in how she treats them, for the most part, and while I’m a revenge-fantasy lover, I also have a deep soft spot for hurt/comfort, which is what this story is. So I appreciate how human she is, and how her consistent, purposeful choice to be kind in the face of the awful things she’s lived through have affected Rabbeth’s attitude. Sorry, just realized how much of a rant this is, I have a lot of feelings about this story, I didn’t mean to lecture you. 😊

Dw, I am a strict believer that she is only biding her time until they are adults. Ngl if it were me I would have loved to seek revenge upon them even if they’re children but let us see where and what kind of revenge will our FL make since she did mention before that she will still have her revenge. Though I really hate sweet potatoes so let’s just see, and hope that she is still able to give a punch or two (figuratively) soon.
