What Does That Evil Dragon Live For?

“Martin! Where did you go?”

L’Arch, who was waiting for them with a frown on his forehead, asked in an annoyed voice.

Martin’s elated expression hardened in an instant.

“Ah, that, I just took a look around the temple.”

L’Arch narrowed his eyes at the somewhat uncertain tone of voice and looked at Martin and the others one by one.

“What about Elaine?”

“Elaine? I don’t know, she must be walking around alone.”

“Since when have you not seen Elaine?”

“I haven’t paid attention to her since I entered the temple.”

Martin lied as best he could.

But the moment L’Arch’s lips twisted subtly, Martin knew something was wrong.

“Well, that’s weird, because I heard that you and Damon took Elaine.”

“Who, who, who said that?”

“Martin Newt. I’ll give you one last chance, Elaine, where is she?”

Martin unknowingly averted his gaze.

He just pretended to be strong in front of Lorina, but he was embarrassed to roll his tail right away, and he was afraid to lie to his older brother who seemed to know everything.

While he hesitated, Lorina timidly stepped forward.

“By the way, L’Arch, why are you looking for Elaine?”

“Is it strange to take care of my younger siblings in this crowd?”

“I’m asking because you seem to take care of Elaine more than your younger siblings.”

Martin and his gang nodded as if they had regained confidence in Lorina’s support.

However, as L’Arch’s colder gaze swept past them, their heads fell to the floor.

“There is nothing more to worry about because my siblings are running around in groups like this. But since I can’t see Elaine, whom these guys took away, I just asked.”

L’Arch’s answer had no fault.

Conversely, Lorina’s attitude looked quite suspicious in L’Arch’s eyes.

“By the way, I heard that Lady Lorina went out with these guys, right? then…You also know where Elaine is.”

“What?”

“Did you ask me why I was looking for Elaine? So let me ask you too. Why is Lady Lorina hiding Elaine’s whereabouts?”

Now even Lorina was staring down at the floor with her mouth shut.

L’Arch frowned in displeasure, then looked back at Martin, Damon, and Ellie.

“I’ve taught you about ‘The Criminal’s Dilemma’ before, right?”

Of course everyone remembered.

When interrogating accomplices in separate rooms, if they both remain silent, they’ll both live, but if one confesses, the other will be framed.

The reason they remember that is because when Martin, Damon, and Ellie got into trouble and then lied, it was L’Arch’s main way to uncover the truth.

“If I go home without finding Elaine,…Can you guys handle the aftermath?”

The three children’s complexions turned pale.

“What kind of punishment would be suitable for a guy who lied to me to the end? ah! How about I give you back what you did to Elaine?”

Ellie burst into tears at the threat in his cool voice.

“Huh! I was wrong!”

“Ellie. Where is Elaine?”

“In the coffin mortuary in the temple cemetery…”

Martin and Damon, who missed the opportunity to answer first, rushed to make excuses.

“I was going to bring her right away! Really!”

“It was because she kept lying!”

“lie?”

When L’Arch reacted to the ‘lie’ part, Martin and Damon assumed it was a hole to live through.

“I asked her what she did to you that you are suddenly being nice to her? I asked very politely!”

“But she keep claiming that she didn’t do anything! That’s a lie, right? What did that girl do to you?”

“She brazenly said that she hadn’t spoken to you since three months ago. The subject of always chasing after my brother!”

L’Arch, who was listening to his younger siblings’ excuses, tilted his head and asked.

“Wait, I was nice to Elaine? when?”

“I heard that you didn’t let Elaine work and buy her clothes. Today, you escort her when she gets on and off the carriage…”

At Martin’s reply, L’Arch had to calm his anger by pressing down on his throbbing temple.

‘I couldn’t understand why such trivial things seemed to be ‘be nice’, and why it was a reason to bother Elaine.’

‘You all have so much energy for nothing, I wish you’d put it into your studies.’

Lark sighed heavily and said as he headed toward the temple graveyard.

“Don’t be stupid, wait for our parents in front of the chapel. We will talk more about this at home.”

The children’s shoulders drooped at the news that more talk would continue when they went home.

“Is anyone there?”

I shouted, knocking on the door again, with my bruised hand. I wonder how many times I had already shouted, my voice was hoarse.

Martin could have gone home and left me here.

If I had to spend the night here, I might drive myself crazy with fear.

The presence of the corpse I felt behind my back made my whole body tremble and gave me goosebumps for a long time.

The realization of my helplessness brought tears to my eyes.

‘It was only because of Raves, that I was unharmed at Newt, not because I was stronger…’

It was disastrous.

It felt funny that I was proud of myself even a little bit.

And the obvious fact that even Rabes, the only being I could rely on, could not always save me, came to my frighteningly.

At this rate, I could be trapped here and starve or freeze to death. I could have died of a heart attack in fear.

“I was wrong! Please open the door, Martin!”

Elaine knocked on the door, bursting into tears.

If Martin or the other guys outside were listening, they’d be giggling that I had finally given in, but it didn’t matter. Rather than being left like this…

Then, the door of the morgue started rattling.

“Save me, save me! please…!”

As the hope of being able to get out of this place increased, the tears filled my eyes even more and my voice trembled.

Suddenly, the doors of the morgue open.

My eyes were blinded by the white winter sun.

“Thank you! thank you!”

I hurriedly crawled out of the morgue, simply nodded my head, not even thinking about properly checking the person standing in front of me.

But the other person’s response was more of a pathetic grunt than a concern.

“You will break your neck. Stop saying that.”

It was a young man’s voice that sounded sweet, but it was somehow arrogant.

After barely coming to my senses, I wiped my tear-soaked eyes and cheeks and raised my head.

The person standing with his back to the sun was a beautiful man with jet-black hair, white skin, and blue eyes that seemed to be colder than winter.

He must have been in his late teens or early twenties. He was a little taller than L’Arch, and had a slim, lean physique with no flab.

Looking at the luxurious clothes he was wearing, he seemed to be the son of a noble family who stopped by the temple for New Year’s worship.

“Thank you! I thought I was going to die of being locked up.”

“Why the hell are you in there? Seeing that the door was locked from the outside, I don’t think you went in with your own feet.”

“My cousins were playing a prank on me…so I went to.”

“What? Locking a person in a coffin and then disappearing? Are you usually the type to play wildly?”

The man said in a puzzled tone, but he willingly extended his hand to me, who had lost my strength in my legs and sat down.

She wiped her wet hand from wiping her tears on her skirt and carefully held her hand.

She thought the long white fingers were pretty, but when she held it, she felt the thick and hard bones.

The power to grab her hand and pull her up at once was also amazing.

“You have done me a great favor. Would you mind telling me your name?”

“What are you going to do with that?”

“yes? Uh, someday I’ll repay the favor….”

“you?”

Elaine was speechless at his perverse question.

‘It seemed that repaying the favor would not sound credible even if he thought about it. If it was from a child who was being bullied by her cousins.’

“If we are meant to meet again, we will meet even if we do not share our names. If we are not meant to meet, I don’t have to tell you my name.”

“I am Elaine. Elaine Newt.”

“Did you hear me?”

“If we meet again next time, it will be more pleasant to say hello by name.”

Elaine introduced herself with a smile despite the cynical attitude of the man.

‘It felt like we could meet again. I had never seen him in my previous life, and he seemed like the son of a high ranking nobleman who would never have anything to do with me, but strangely, I felt that way.’

At that time, she wanted to say hello and repay today’s favor in any way.

“Ha…”

The man want to say, “What a child,” but he shook His head and then blurted it out.

“Serge Lindel.”

“Serge Lindel? I’ll make sure to remember. Thank you very much.”

Elaine smiled brightly and bowed again.

Then, she saw someone approaching from afar.
