Unstoppable Affection

Most of the members in the club were young men around 20 years old, with a large portion between 17 to 23, and most of them were single. Since boxing athletes are categorized by weight class, their height and weight often seemed quite varied. The same went for their looks…

While many had great physiques, good-looking ones were rare.

Xu Jingyu was one of the club’s rare gems. He had always been the club’s star boxer. Many sponsors were attracted not only by his boxing skills but also by his appearance. These days, everything seemed to come down to having a good face.

Shi Lei, in a fit of anger, pointed at him and said, “Would someone really want to kiss you instead?”

Xu Jingyu, pouring himself some water, leaned lazily against the wall by the dispenser and glanced at her, “Well, you’d have to ask her about that.”

Ying Huan: “…”

Everyone turned to look at her, waiting for her response.

Ying Huan’s eyes briefly scanned the group before landing on Xu Jingyu. Today, he was wearing a red T-shirt and black sports pants. The injuries on his face had fully healed, and his sharp, defined features were indeed quite striking. Even if he weren’t wearing red, she could pick him out from a crowd.

He sipped his water and gave her a teasing look, “Well, are you going to answer? Would you kiss me?”

Ying Huan’s ears suddenly felt hot and began to flush red. She turned her face away, “No.”

Xu Jingyu raised an eyebrow.

Shi Lei paused for a second before slapping his thigh and bursting into laughter, “Hahaha, even King Jing gets shut down! Don’t think just because you’re good-looking you get special privileges!”

“Exactly, exactly, she only blows on Ying Chi’s injuries!”

“That’s what you get with a real sister, different treatment for sure…”

“Ying Chi’s lucky.”

The group laughed, leaving Ying Huan blushing from embarrassment. Why was everyone so unserious?

After Ying Chi finished his training, he ran over to find Ying Huan for dinner, only to see everyone laughing like crazy. Confused, Shi Lei patted him on the shoulder and said, “You’re a lucky kid. Your sister’s going to work part-time here as the club’s medical assistant. Are you excited?”

Ying Chi looked over at Ying Huan in surprise. “Really, sis?”

Ying Huan smiled and nodded, “Mm-hmm.”

“Ahhhh! That’s amazing!”

The boy was ecstatic.

Xu Jingyu frowned slightly. What was this kid so happy about? He glanced at the smiling girl, scoffed lightly, grabbed his water bottle, and left.

Chen Senran, who had been sitting on the side with his legs crossed, watching the commotion, suddenly laughed and looked down at Ying Chi with disdain. “You’re such a sister’s boy. No wonder you got KO’d.” He stood up casually, hands in his pockets, his tone particularly infuriating. “With the way you are, you’re never going to make it to the big leagues.”

Ying Chi’s face immediately darkened, and he glared at him angrily, “What did you say?”

He was ready to charge at him.

Chen Senran grinned, “I said, you’re just a baby.”

Ying Chi: “…”

Ying Chi’s chest heaved, a surge of anger blazing inside him, fiercely trying to burst out. He wanted to fight Chen Senran, to KO him with one punch. He was about to charge when Ying Huan held him back.

Ying Huan stood up and walked toward Chen Senran, her face tense. Xu Jingyu’s steps halted, stopping behind her, concerned that she might lose control and slap Chen Senran.

Most men wouldn’t hit a woman, but Chen Senran was unpredictable.

Ying Huan stopped in front of Chen Senran and suddenly smiled. “Chen Senran, I remember you’re a month younger than Ying Chi.”

Chen Senran looked at her, puzzled. “Yeah, so what?”

She suddenly raised her hand, and Xu Jingyu narrowed his eyes, lowering his gaze to watch her. He stepped forward, almost standing right behind her. For some reason, even if she wanted to hit someone, he had no intention of stopping her. But if Chen Senran tried to hit her back, there was no way he would stand by and watch.

It wasn’t just him—Shi Lei and the others were also on edge, unsure how to handle the situation involving a woman.

But instead, the girl’s delicate hand landed softly on Chen Senran’s head, gently ruffling his hair. “So, you’re just a baby too. Be good now, fighting is wrong. It’d be best if you apologized to Ying Chi.”

Chen Senran stood there as if struck by lightning. He had never been touched like this by a girl before, let alone spoken to so gently. His ears turned bright red, and it was like he’d been shocked—he jumped back suddenly.

“What are you doing?”

Ying Huan smiled innocently. “Nothing, I just don’t want you guys to fight.”

Xu Jingyu looked down at her with an indescribable expression. He glanced at Chen Senran—*a baby*?—and couldn’t believe she had said that. He looked around at the stunned crowd and said, “Alright, everyone disperse. Get back to whatever you were doing.”

Wu Qi rushed out of the bathroom, having just heard from Coach Liu that a few of his team members were about to fight. He had cursed, “These damn brats, always causing trouble,” and had run out mid-pee, still pulling up his pants. But when he arrived, he was confused.

The group had gathered around Ying Huan—where was the fight?

He walked over to Xu Jingyu and asked, “What happened? Coach Liu said some of you were about to fight.”

Xu Jingyu shrugged. “Nothing happened. Ying Huan was just complimenting someone.”

Wu Qi: “…”

Chen Senran felt a surge of frustration building up inside him that he couldn’t release. He ruffled his hair and walked off.

Wu Qi glanced at the group and waved his hand irritably. “Go eat, rest, do whatever you need to do. I don’t care what issues you have with each other, but no more causing trouble. Keep your bodies in top condition. If you want to fight, take it to the ring.”

The group exchanged glances and then dispersed.

Ying Huan lowered her head and walked past Xu Jingyu.

“Where are you going, sis?” asked Ying Chi.

“To wash my hands.”

Ying Huan glanced at him. “You go eat with them first, don’t wait for me. I’m heading to the hospital later.”

Today was her follow-up appointment for her braces.

Hearing this, Xu Jingyu looked at her briefly, then leisurely walked behind her to the locker room to change clothes and grab his car keys. He didn’t have any training scheduled for the afternoon and planned to go home, and it just so happened the dental clinic was on the way.

Ying Huan stood at the public sink, carefully squeezing out hand soap and washing each finger meticulously.

Xu Jingyu took his car keys and leaned against the wall, waiting for her.

When Ying Huan finished washing her hands and saw him, she hesitated and asked, “Are you looking for me?”

He tossed the car keys up and straightened up. “Let’s go. I’ll give you a ride.”

Still processing his words, she followed him. “Where are you taking me?”

He looked back. “Aren’t you going to the hospital? It’s on my way.”

“Oh,” Ying Huan responded, not bothering with any formalities. “Give me a second, I need to grab something.”

Xu Jingyu nodded. “The car’s parked outside. It’s the same one you rode in last time.”

Then, suddenly turning to her with a smile in his eyes, he asked, “You’re not car-blind, right?”

Ying Huan: “…”

Speechless, she looked at him. “I remember the license plate!”

After grabbing her bag, Ying Huan followed Xu Jingyu out of the club. The sun was scorching hot, and as she walked closely behind him, his tall and upright frame conveniently blocked the sunlight. Xu Jingyu glanced back and, noticing this, chuckled softly.

Once in the car, Xu Jingyu received a call from Wu Qi. “There’s a club dinner tonight. Several new members have joined the team, and we haven’t all gathered yet. Don’t forget to come.”

Xu Jingyu glanced at Ying Huan. “Alright.”

After hanging up, his WeChat notifications kept going off. He opened the app, and the group chat was full of excitement. Shi Lei said, “Bring the little doctor along! She’s part of the club now! Where is she?”

Yang Jingcheng: “I saw her leave with King Jing.”

Shi Lei: “…”

Ying Chi: “?????”

How come he didn’t know about this?!

Ying Chi hurriedly sent Ying Huan a message. Ying Huan rarely checked her phone while in the car, as she easily got dizzy.

Xu Jingyu chuckled, resting his left hand on the steering wheel, and casually replied, “Yeah, she’s in my car.”

Shi Lei sent a shocked emoji: “Wow! Where are you taking her?”

Xu Jingyu: “Taking her home.”

“……”

The next second, Ying Huan’s phone started ringing nonstop.

Xu Jingyu glanced at her phone screen, casually put her phone away, and tossed it into the glove compartment before starting the engine and driving off.

Ying Huan answered the call, only to hear Ying Chi shouting in panic, “Sis, Xu Jingyu said you’re in his car and he’s taking you to his place! Get out of the car right now! Don’t let him trick you!”

Ying Huan: “……”

“Who said that?”

“He said it in the group chat!” Ying Chi shouted loudly. “Just get out of the car!”

Ying Huan’s heart skipped a beat as she looked at Xu Jingyu’s handsome profile, somewhat in disbelief. “Xu Jingyu, did you tell the group you’re taking me home?”
