Chapter 432-433

As Huang Quan had predicted, the people they visited were visibly worried when they saw them arrive.

Although there was no evidence proving Feng Jiuyuan was the culprit, he was indeed the only one among them with demon clan blood.

As the saying goes, “Better safe than sorry.”

What if Feng Jiuyuan really was the culprit?

Despite their fear, they couldn’t stop the trio from meeting the injured individuals. After all, each member of the trio had backing from formidable powers that couldn’t be underestimated.

Thus, Huang Quan smoothly managed to meet the injured people and placed marks on them.

With these marks, no matter who the culprit targeted next, Huang Quan would immediately know.

Additionally, the marks would protect the injured, giving Huang Quan enough time to arrive!

“Phew…”

As they left the last injured person’s residence, Feng Jiuyuan and Jing Chen turned to Huang Quan.
“So, we’ve visited all the injured. Now we just need to wait for the culprit to show up?”

“Yes,” Huang Quan replied. “Let’s head back to rest. We’ll need to go out again tonight.”

“Alright,” Jing Chen and Feng Jiuyuan responded in unison.

Nighttime.

After finishing dinner, the trio prepared to head out.

The dean, noticing this, frowned and said, “Feng Jiuyuan and Jing Chen should stay behind.”

Feng Jiuyuan and Jing Chen looked at the dean simultaneously.
“Dean, is there something you need from us?”

“Nothing,” the dean replied. “I just don’t think it’s suitable for the two of you to go.”

Before they could ask why, the dean continued, “The culprit was able to move freely in Elder Xiao’s residence, which indicates a high level of cultivation. Furthermore, given the possibility that the culprit might be from the demon clan, neither of you should go.”

The dean added, “Both of you are at the Saint Spirit Master level. Facing such a powerful culprit, you might not win.”

“For your safety, I recommend you stay in the courtyard.”

After hearing the dean’s reasoning, both Feng Jiuyuan and Jing Chen fell silent.

Huang Quan turned to them. “Listen to the dean.”

“Stay in the courtyard. I’ll go alone,” Huang Quan said to the two. “Once I catch the culprit, I’ll return.”

Feng Jiuyuan and Jing Chen both nodded.
“Be careful.”

“I will,” Huang Quan replied. With that, she walked out of the courtyard.

Feng Jiuyuan and Jing Chen watched as Huang Quan disappeared from sight. Once her figure was gone, they exchanged a glance and each headed back to their rooms.

Since they couldn’t go out, it was better to rest in their rooms rather than stay outside and risk the temptation to sneak out.

Meanwhile…

After leaving the courtyard, Huang Quan found a tree to use as a perch. She settled on a branch, waiting patiently for the “rabbit” to appear.

Time passed slowly, and soon it was late into the night. The courtyard remained silent and undisturbed, with no unusual events taking place.

Huang Quan sat on the tree branch, her expression calm as she watched the darkness. Despite the stillness, she did not let her guard down.

Suddenly, there was a loud explosion!

“Boom!”

The sound shattered the quiet night. Huang Quan immediately stood up, her eyes fixed on the direction of the noise.

The next moment, a red glow flickered in her palm.

Seeing the glow, Huang Quan’s figure blurred as she vanished from her spot.

At the same time…

In a room within one of the courtyards, chaos reigned.

The furniture was in shambles, scattered everywhere. A man lay collapsed in front of a screen, his eyes filled with terror as he looked at the approaching figure.

“The prayer beads?”

The intruder smirked with bloodthirsty delight as they looked at the man.
“It seems the information I leaked didn’t fool Fo Xin. He really did come to the Nanyuan Empire.”

The man stared at the figure before him and demanded sharply, “Who are you? Why are you trying to kill me?”

“Does a predator need a reason to hunt its prey?” the intruder sneered. “Fo Xin’s prayer beads may block the first attack, but they won’t stop the second. Even if he hears the commotion and rushes here, it’ll be too late.”

With that, the intruder extended his hand, summoning a surge of lightning energy.

The next moment, the lightning energy surged toward the man.

“Bang!”

Just as the energy was about to strike, a red glow erupted from the man’s body. The glow expanded like a protective barrier, blocking the lightning attack.

“Another layer of protection?”

The intruder frowned at the sight.

Did Fo Xin really give them so many safeguards?

“I was starting to think you wouldn’t show up tonight,” a melodic voice broke the tension.

Both men in the room turned toward the source of the voice.

At the doorway stood Huang Quan, smiling pleasantly as she looked at the man wielding the lightning energy. “I’ve been waiting all night. For a moment, I thought you wouldn’t come. Fortunately, you didn’t disappoint me.”

The intruder chuckled at her words. “I was wondering who it might be. Turns out it’s you.”

“They say you have the strength of a celestial martial artist, but so what?” he said. “Your power means nothing to me. If you’ve come here seeking death, I’ll gladly oblige.”

“Oblige me?” Huang Quan smiled slyly. “Are you sure about that?”

Before the man could respond, Huang Quan continued, “If you could attack anyone freely, you wouldn’t specifically target the injured. Yesterday’s competition left everyone with some injuries, but the people you chose to target were those with severe injuries. The same goes for tonight. This tells me you’re either incapable of handling others or find it too taxing compared to dealing with the wounded.”

“And even if what you say is true, so what?” the man retorted. “You’re no match for me!”

With that, the man launched an attack at Huang Quan.

As the attack approached, Huang Quan’s smile deepened. She was about to counter when a flash of white darted in front of her.

Huang Quan looked up and saw Xuan Yong standing before her, intercepting the attack.

“Huang Quan, I’ll handle him. You focus on saving the others,” Xuan Yong said as he grabbed the attacker’s hand and forcibly dragged him out of the room.

Worried the intruder might escape, Huang Quan glanced back and saw that a barrier had already been set up in the courtyard.

Now, both Xuan Yong and the attacker were trapped within the barrier!

With the barrier in place, no one could leave without the permission of the one who set it, unless they forcibly broke through it.

Seeing that the attacker was trapped, Huang Quan felt reassured. She quickly walked to the injured man inside the room, took out a porcelain bottle, and said, “This contains medicinal pills. Take one and circulate your spiritual energy to heal your injuries.”

The man accepted the bottle and said, “Thank you, Huang Quan.”

He wasn’t foolish; he knew that earlier in the day, only Huang Quan and Xuan Yong had come to see him.

Xuan Yong had given him the prayer beads, which had blocked the first attack. As for the second attack…

Thinking about the red glow that had shielded him, the man looked at Huang Quan and said, “Thank you for saving me.”

If not for that red glow, he would already be dead.

After all, Xuan Yong hadn’t arrived yet at that moment.

End of Chapter. Thank you for reading! ^0^
