Chapter 280: Related to the Gods
After Huang Quan thanked Young Master Ye for his good wishes, she and Nangong Mian entered the academy together.
Young Master Ye watched their departing figures for a long time, unable to look away. It wasn’t until their figures disappeared from view that he finally returned to the carriage and said, “Let’s go.”
Huang Quan and Nangong Mian returned to the academy, bid farewell to the headmaster and Teacher Ming Chao, and then went back to their courtyard.
Once they were back, they packed their things and placed them into their storage space. Then, they boarded the carriage.
Yong Ye waited until they were settled before driving the carriage away.
The six winged snow lions pulling the carriage flew over the academy, catching the attention of the students, who looked up to watch.
Nangong Mian lifted the curtain and looked out the window.
The academy and the royal city gradually became smaller and more distant.
This was the place where he had lived for ten years, and now he was leaving.
An hour later, the carriage stopped at the residence that Emperor Qin had prepared for them. Huang Quan and Nangong Mian got out of the carriage.
“Nangong Miss, Nangong Young Master,” Yong Ye said to them, “Please rest well. The High Priest will come tomorrow to take you to the academy. I need to go pick up my master, so I’ll take my leave now.”
Huang Quan nodded. “Thank you.”
“There’s no need to thank me, Miss Nangong,” Yong Ye said with a smile before driving the carriage away.
After Yong Ye left, Huang Quan and Nangong Mian each went to their respective rooms.
They had rested on the carriage, so they weren’t tired. One of them went to cultivate, while the other focused on refining medicine.
If you want to get rich, you can’t do it without pills!
The next morning.
Nangong Mian had cultivated all night and advanced to the eighth level. Overjoyed, he went to find Huang Quan.
Huang Quan had spent the night using the remaining herbs in her space to create some ointments that could remove scars. She had just finished packing them up when she heard movement outside.
“Quan Quan!” Nangong Mian called out from outside.
Brother?
Why is he here so early? Could it be that the High Priest has arrived?
But that doesn’t seem right… I only heard one person’s footsteps…
Huang Quan put down the porcelain box and walked out.
As soon as the door opened, before Huang Quan could say anything, she heard Nangong Mian excitedly exclaim, “Quan Quan! I’ve advanced!”
Seeing how excited he was, Huang Quan smiled as well. “Congratulations, Brother.”
“You don’t know,” Nangong Mian said. “I was stuck at the sixth level for a long time, and it was only after using the advancement pill you made that I broke through to the seventh level. But now, just a few months later, I’ve advanced again.”
“This never happened before,” Nangong Mian continued. “I don’t know why, but ever since we returned from the ruins, I feel like my cultivation speed has increased.”
Huang Quan thought about it.
Could his sudden increase in cultivation speed be because of Rong Mian occupying his body, causing an awakening?
But that doesn’t seem likely. If that were the case, his cultivation would have skyrocketed.
Still, considering his unique soul, it’s not unusual for his cultivation speed to increase.
After all, it’s related to the gods.
“Brother, you already have great talent, so it’s normal for your cultivation speed to increase,” Huang Quan said to him. “It will only get faster from here on.”
“Really?” Nangong Mian was a bit skeptical. “It’s not just because I got lucky?”
“It’s true, it will keep getting faster,” Huang Quan reassured him. “But the luck only helped this one time.”
Nangong Mian felt relieved but also more puzzled. “Why is this happening?”
Huang Quan thought, *How am I supposed to explain this? Should I tell you it’s because you’re connected to the gods, so your cultivation is naturally faster?*
*Can someone come and save me?*
Chapter 281: You and Huang Quan Will Be Separated
Wasn’t the Grand Priest supposed to come in the morning?
Why hasn’t he arrived yet?
Nangong Mian noticed that Huang Quan had remained silent for a while, assuming she was trying to figure out the reason for his sudden progress. He said, “Quan Quan, don’t think too much about it.”
Huang Quan pressed her lips together, looking at him but saying nothing.
Nangong Mian continued, “It’s happening to me, and I don’t even know why. It’s normal for you not to know.”
Huang Quan thought, *…I do know, but I just can’t explain it.*
Nangong Mian added, “Even though I don’t understand why my cultivation speed has increased, it’s a good thing for me. It means I can get stronger faster.”
Huang Quan asked, “Third Brother, with your cultivation speed increasing, has your body felt uncomfortable in any way?”
“No,” Nangong Mian shook his head. “I haven’t felt any discomfort. Everything feels normal.”
“Then there’s no problem,” Huang Quan reassured him. “Like you said, a faster cultivation speed isn’t a bad thing, so don’t dwell on it.”
“Okay,” Nangong Mian nodded.
Huang Quan added, “But if you ever feel any discomfort due to cultivation, make sure to tell me.”
Nangong Mian smiled, “Don’t worry, Quan Quan, I know.”
Huang Quan smiled back. Just as she was about to say something else, she saw the Grand Priest approaching.
Unfortunately, he arrived just after the conversation had ended.
“Grand Priest,” Nangong Mian greeted as soon as he saw him.
The Grand Priest nodded at the two of them and then handed over a food box he was carrying. “I brought you some breakfast.”
“It contains some pastries made by the imperial chefs.”
Nangong Mian took the food box, thanked him, and invited Huang Quan to join them for breakfast.
However, Huang Quan didn’t rush to eat. After spending the entire night making medicinal paste, her hands were covered in residue, so she excused herself to wash up first.
Nangong Mian and the Grand Priest didn’t hurry to eat either. Instead, they sat down on a stone bench and began discussing the matter of entering the academy.
The Grand Priest explained, “The students at the Imperial Academy are generally more advanced in their cultivation than those at the Tianhuang Academy. The minimum level is the fifth rank or above. Given your current cultivation level…”
He paused, frowning slightly as he looked at Nangong Mian.
“I remember you were a seventh-level spirit master before, but now you’re at the eighth level, and your spiritual energy is still a bit unstable,” the Grand Priest observed. “Did you just advance?”
Nangong Mian nodded. “Yes.”
“An eighth-level spirit master is considered average at the Imperial Academy,” the Grand Priest informed him. “After entering the academy, make sure to follow the curriculum and avoid prolonged solitary cultivation.”
“Understood,” Nangong Mian agreed.
The Grand Priest then discussed a few other matters with Nangong Mian before finally saying, “According to the division by cultivation level, you and Huang Quan will be separated.”
Nangong Mian chuckled, “Isn’t that normal?”
After all, Quan Quan won first place in the academy’s joint competition. It’s only natural that she wouldn’t be placed in the same division as him at the Imperial Academy.
The Grand Priest looked at him and said, “You two can live in the same courtyard.”
After a brief pause, he added, “Just like at Tianhuang Academy?”
Nangong Mian was a bit surprised. “Was that your order or Imperial Qin’s?”
“Neither,” the Grand Priest replied. “This was arranged by the academy itself.”
“They learned about some things between you and Huang Quan from the headmaster of Tianhuang Academy and made this decision after discussing it. It has nothing to do with me or His Highness the Crown Prince.”
He added, “Initially, I did have this in mind, and so did His Highness the Crown Prince, but before we could give any instructions, the academy had already made the arrangements.”
