“But he didn’t do that,” Huang Quan continued Nangong Min’s words. “Why didn’t he come?”
Nangong Yi and Nangong Qiu fell silent.
Indeed, it was very strange. But before today, they didn’t know these things, so they didn’t understand why he gave up on controlling Huang Quan, who was closer and easier to manipulate.
Di Qin spoke up, “He didn’t want to.”
Everyone looked at him.
Di Qin looked at the people in front of him and said calmly, “There’s only one reason why he didn’t do it.”
“He didn’t want to harm Quan Quan and them.”
Nangong Yi and Nangong Qiu were stunned.
Even Nangong Min looked bewildered.
He didn’t want to harm them?
Nangong Min moved his lips, “But last time… last time someone tried to kill Quan Quan…”
“We can only confirm that the person was sent by Nangong Qingle. No one knows if it was his order.”
“But he helped erase the traces.”
“He had to,” Nangong Yi frowned. “He chose Nangong Qingle to achieve his goals. Before he succeeded, he had to ensure Nangong Qingle stayed alive.”
Saying this, Nangong Yi looked up at Nangong Min and Huang Quan. “Protecting Nangong Qingle’s life and not wanting to harm you don’t contradict each other.”
Nangong Min fell silent.
Nangong Qiu also fell silent.
Apparently, no one had expected this outcome.
“Following the idea that he doesn’t want to harm us,” Huang Quan said, “even if we don’t say he knew Father, he definitely knew Mother and had a good relationship with her, so he wouldn’t have killed them. Father and Mother must still be alive.”
“And the reason I kept Nangong Qingle alive is to use her as bait.”
“If things haven’t worked out, that man will definitely contact Nangong Qingle again. He might even come to see her in person, so Nangong Qingle can’t die just yet.”
“As long as we catch that man, we can not only find out where our parents are but also discover what he wants from Qin Qin.”
“Agreed,” Nangong Qiu looked at Huang Quan. “Quan Quan, your plan makes sense, but the precondition is being able to control Nangong Qingle.”
“I’m completely confident in that,” Huang Quan replied, looking at him. “You don’t need to worry.”
“As long as we can handle that, everything else isn’t a problem,” Nangong Qiu said. “We’ll have someone follow Nangong Qingle. Once she contacts someone…”
“Your people won’t do,” Huang Quan stated bluntly.
Nangong Yi and Nangong Qiu froze.
Seeing their complex expressions, Huang Quan chuckled. “Don’t look at me like that. I’m serious.”
Nangong Qingle is a Saint Spirit Master herself, and there aren’t many in Nangong’s household who can keep her in check, let alone the person behind her.
“This matter is better left to Qin Qin,” Huang Quan continued, looking at Di Qin. “Qin Qin, send someone to follow her.”
When she goes to the ruins, she can monitor her, but when she returns to Tianfeng Kingdom, she won’t be able to keep an eye on Nangong Qingle constantly. Indeed, someone needs to watch over her.
Di Qin looked at her and said, “I’ll send Yongzhi to follow her. Quan Quan, you can rest assured.”
Yongzhi.
He’s the driver.
Huang Quan hesitated for a moment. “Or should we change the person?”
Before Di Qin could ask why, Huang Quan continued, “If you send him out, who else will drive?”
Upon hearing this, Nangong Qiu smiled, and even Nangong Yi coughed lightly. They hadn’t expected Huang Quan to consider this.
Di Qin chuckled, “Quan Quan, we won’t need him to drive anymore from now on.”
“Then it’s him.”
Huang Quan had met Yongzhi before; though young-looking, his strength was not to be underestimated. Yongzhi’s cultivation level surpassed that of Nangong Yi.
While Nangong Yi and Nangong Qiu were disappointed that the chosen person wasn’t from the Nangong mansion, they were aware of Yongzhi’s abilities.
The Crown Prince had two young men around him, twins named Yongzhi and Yongye. Yongzhi and Yongye operated in light and shadow respectively, both possessing formidable strength. Having one of them follow Nangong Qingle reassured everyone.
“All right,” Huang Quan said. “The issue we needed to resolve has been settled. We should go.”
Nangong Qiu initially thought about suggesting staying for a meal, but remembered Huang Quan and Nangong Min’s dislike of the Nangong family and refrained from saying anything.
“I’ll see you out,” Nangong Yi offered.
“I’ll come along too,” added Nangong Qiu.
The two escorted Huang Quan, Di Qin, and Nangong Min back to the flying-winged snow lion carriage.
Before boarding, Huang Quan looked at Nangong Yi. “Treat Nangong Qingle the same way you did before today. She won’t tell that man anything that happened here, but your attitude towards her might give him clues, so avoid being too conspicuous.”
Nangong Yi nodded. “Understood.”
Huang Quan said nothing more and boarded the carriage.
Once they were all aboard, Yongzhi, responsible for driving, approached from the other side and guided the carriage away.
…
The flying-winged snow lion carriage stopped outside the inn, and Nangong Min was the first to disembark.
“Yongzhi, come chat with me,” Emperor Qin’s voice came from inside the carriage.
Upon hearing this, Yongzhi understood that the Crown Prince wanted to distract him so he could talk to Miss Huang.
Ah…
What difference would it make if he knew?
He still had to leave.
With this resigned thought, Yongzhi obediently left.
Inside the carriage, Emperor Qin looked at Huang Quan and said, “Quan Quan, once we reach the ruins, try not to leave the High Priest’s side.”
Huang Quan smiled and replied, “Are you worried I might encounter danger?”
Emperor Qin chuckled at that. “Quan Quan, I trust in your strength.”
“The reason I want you to stay close to the High Priest is to save time.”
Huang Quan raised an eyebrow teasingly. “So, does that mean the High Priest has been to the ruins?”
“He discovered the ruins and went inside the outer perimeter,” Emperor Qin explained. “However, he couldn’t enter the inner perimeter.”
“Why not?”
Emperor Qin nodded. “There are stone statue soldiers guarding the inner perimeter. To get in, you have to defeat those stone statue soldiers. But they immediately regenerate once defeated, and without the right coordination, it’s impossible to get through. So, he turned back after reaching that point.”
Listening attentively, Huang Quan asked, “Did you go to the ruins then?”
“I had other matters at that time, so I didn’t go,” Emperor Qin replied.
“If you didn’t go then, you can go now,” Huang Quan suggested. “It just so happens that we’re also going.”
Emperor Qin looked at her and shook his head slightly. “Quan Quan, I’d love to go with you, but not this time.”
Huang Quan gazed steadily at him for a moment, then sighed. “Alright, I’ll head back to the inn then.”
“Alright,” Emperor Qin acknowledged. “Go back and rest well.”
“Yeah,” Huang Quan responded before stepping off the carriage.
Not far away, Yongzhi breathed a sigh of relief as he saw Huang Quan disembark. Finally, he wouldn’t have to keep coming up with things to say to Nangong Min.
Yongzhi returned to the carriage and drove it away.
Nangong Min returned to Huang Quan’s side. “Quan Quan, shall we go inside?”
