Another match began.
Di Qin withdrew his gaze and didn’t look at him again.
Seeing this, Feng Jiuyuan also averted his gaze.
The rivalry between the two, except for those around them who sensed that something was amiss, remained unknown to others. No one knew that the young master of Jiuyuan City had crossed paths with the Crown Prince of the Tianqi Empire.
As match after match passed, soon it was Huangquan’s turn.
Among the fifty-five participants, there were hardly any students from small country academies left. Huangquan’s opponent this time was a student from one of these small country academies.
Although both were students from small country academies, everyone participating in and watching the competition knew Huangquan’s strength. Therefore, as soon as the other student saw that his opponent was Huangquan, he directly conceded after stepping onto the stage.
Everyone looked at the student from the small country, unsure of what to say.
His willingness to concede so readily made people wonder. If the rules didn’t specify that conceding must be done on stage, would he even bother going up there, or would he just concede from below?
After the supervising teacher announced the result, the two contestants on the stage stepped down.
Huangquan had watched their match with Mirror Sink yesterday and didn’t need to watch the rest today. After greeting the dean, she left the competition venue with Nangong Mian and Di Qin.
Although they didn’t watch the entire competition, leaving the venue around noon, they had lunch together and then wandered around other parts of the imperial capital.
When the sky began to darken, Di Qin escorted the two back to their inn.
Back at the inn, Huangquan flopped onto the bed and sighed while looking at the ceiling.
Out of fifty-five participants, one had a bye today, leaving fifty-four. Fifty-four would be reduced to twenty-seven, plus the one with a bye, making a total of twenty-eight.
Which meant, tomorrow would only have fourteen matches.
Great, they could return early tomorrow.
Counting the days, it had been thirteen days since she arrived in the empire from Tianhuang.
In another seventeen days, the spiritual energy within her would erupt again. Hopefully, she could finish things here and return to Tianhuang before that happened. If not, she might have to wait until after the eruption to go back. Otherwise, what if it happened on the way back? What would she do then?
Jumping down from the back of a flying beast halfway?
“Knock knock,” came the sound of someone knocking on the door from outside.
Huangquan was too lazy to get up and asked directly, “Who is it?”
“I’m the errand boy from the inn, Miss Huang,” the person outside replied. “There’s a young master who wants to see you and Master Nangong. He specifically sent me to inquire.”
Someone wants to see her and San Ge?
With a thought, Huangquan figured out who the person might be.
If it was Qinqin and the High Priest, they would have come up directly if they wanted to see her and San Ge, without sending an errand boy to ask.
Besides Qinqin and the High Priest, the only other family that would want to see both her and San Ge at once would be the Nangong family.
With this in mind, Huangquan got up and walked to the door. After opening it, she looked at the errand boy and asked, “Where is this person?”
“He’s in the lobby,” the errand boy replied.
“Please ask him to come up. We won’t go down,” Huangquan instructed.
“Alright.” The errand boy nodded and then left.
After the errand boy left, Huangquan knocked on Nangong Mian’s door.
After a while, the door opened, and Nangong Mian, dressed in an inner garment and a robe outside, with dripping wet hair indicating he had just bathed, appeared.
Nangong Mian looked at Huangquan and asked, “What’s up, Quan Quan?”
“Huanong’s family wants to see us,” Huangquan said. “San Ge, dry your hair, and then go to my room.”
Nangong Mian had just bathed, and his room wasn’t suitable for entertaining guests, which was why Huangquan said so.
