The Villainess' Ending Was Death

CHAPTER 013

It has been three days since the first pharmacy in Paro Village opened. The rumor that he was a talented person who even received permission from the lord spread, so his income was not bad. The village people, who had to go all the way to the city to buy simple medicine, greatly welcomed the pharmacy. Stories of the lord’s daughter suffering from a skin disease of unknown origin were often heard. The results of the buzz were not bad, but Fresa was a little tired.

Fresa became very tired after what happened with Lycaon. Every day, she had to make medicine to sell at the pharmacy from early in the morning, and she also prepared Daisy’s ointment and medicine to keep her promise to the lord. She also had to examine Lycaon’s wounds and create the complex antidote several times. Still, she had a strong desire to take full responsibility for her decision to help.

Lycaon said he would give enough examples. But it was enough for Fresa to help him work at the pharmacy. Moreover, Lycaon WAs not completely cured yet. He still coughed frequently and his wounds were not completely healed. His complexion was also pale and he got tired easily. She told him to rest at his home because she was worried he might collapse, but he didn’t give up.

‘I’ve been addicted for a long time, so recovery will take time.’ he said

She was not sure how much that would be. In fact, she wasn’t sure if he would ever be completely cured. Because Fresa wasn’t even a real pharmacist, let alone a doctor. All she had was memories of her past life and the knowledge she had learned from books here. She would have been much better off had she received a proper education at the Academy. She felt a sense of regret that she couldn’t resolve right now.

“What makes you think like that?”

Fresa’s thoughts were interrupted by Lycaon’s sudden question. Fresa answered as she filled her medicine cabinet with freshly made medicine.

“You’re busy today too, I think the same thing. Have you cleared all the dust?”

Lycaon grinned and waved the duster.

“Sure. There won’t be a speck of dust.”

“Well done. Then will you please help Mr. Zed?”

Fresa glanced beyond the open door. Zed, who had suddenly joined Lycaon in helping out at the pharmacy, was standing in the garden with a serious look on his face. He was picking the herbs Fresa had requested. The sight of him holding a basket made of woven wood suited him quite well. However, Lycaon had no intention of helping Zed.

“Zed will do just fine on his own. I want to help you here.”

“If that’s true…”

Fresa stretched out her hand and pointed to the chair.

“Please sit there quietly.”

“That’s not work, Resa.”

Lycaon shrugged his shoulders back. However, Fresa’s will was firm.

“Just sitting is enough for you, Mr. Lycaon.”

It was sincere without a single lie. Thanks to Lycaon’s handsome face, people passing by seemed to be entranced and came in to buy medicine. She couldn’t ask someone who was still sick to do difficult work. But Lycaon seemed reluctant.

“I’ll just dust it off.”

“I heard you cleaned it all up without leaving a single speck behind.”

“Just by breathing, dust accumulates.”

Lycaon puffed out his lips and tapped the medicine cabinet in front of Fresa. A fluffy duster whizzed past Fresa’s eyes. His surprisingly strong arms were fully exposed due to his rolled up sleeves. Blue veins were bulging.

‘I thought your wrists would be thin too.’

His long fingers and large hands caught Fresa’s attention.

‘Ah, let’s focus. Concentration.’

Fresa took out a bottle of medicine from the basket again. But at that moment, her hand slipped and she dropped the medicine bottle. She was so embarrassed that she couldn’t even think of reaching for her hand, but then…

“You have to be careful, Resa.”

Lycaon pulled Fresa’s shoulder back and he quickly took the vial. Thanks to this, he was able to prevent the vial from breaking. Fresa was relieved and looked back at Lycaon.

‘Ah.’

Also, his face was too close. Lycaon was still holding Fresa’s shoulder with one hand. The mysterious purple eyes gazed at Fresa with a very affectionate look.

“Are you okay?”

Fresa suddenly came to her senses at the soft voice. And she got out of his arms a little quickly. Anyway, it was the best face to attract people. Although he was clearly a sick person, he was rather fascinating, perhaps because of his unique atmosphere.

“My hand slipped. Thank you.”

“It was nothing. If the glass bottle had broken, you would have been hurt. After all, I should be next to you.”

Lycaon replied slyly and placed the vial on the medicine cabinet. The green liquid in the small vial shook slightly and then settled. Lycaon took a step back and asked.

“What else do you want me to do now?”

Fresa looked into Lycaon’s eyes for a moment, then silently pointed to the chair. Lycaon let out a low laugh.

“I decline.”

“That’s too bad.”

It’s her chance to attract more customers. Fresa swallowed her words inwardly.

At that time, a lively voice was heard.

“Resa! Miss Resa!”

Daisy ran quickly, clutching her dress with all her might. The people were startled by her booming voice and glanced at her, but her face didn’t even pay attention to her. She still wore a bonnet and gloves to block the sun, but her scarred skin had healed considerably.

Resa put down her basket and greeted Daisy.

“Daisy, don’t run.”

“But I had no choice because I came right at the time the pharmacy closed! Ah, hello Uncle Lycaon.”

Lycaon’s face darkened. Daisy already had no hesitation in referring to him as uncle.

“I’m not your uncle.”

“Aren’t you an old man to me?”

“Yes, yes. Call me whatever you want.”

In the end, Lycaon retreated first this time too. It was a wise choice, as he would gain nothing by arguing with a child. Daisy, who became the winner again today, quickly started chattering lively like a small bird.

“Today is the last day of the Wheat Field Festival. please! I want to see it with you.”

Daisy’s cheeks blushed shyly. Fresa blinked her eyes. It’s already the last day of the festival.

Because of various reasons, she couldn’t even watch it properly.

‘But there are still a lot of medicines to be made…’

The pharmacy was closing time, but Fresa still had a lot to do after work.

“Today we are going to set off imperial magic fireworks. Let’s go together, okay?”

Daisy held Fresa’s hand tightly and rocked her back and forth.

‘Imperial magic fireworks?’

Fresa’s curiosity wavered. It was a curiosity about the existence of a wizard.

‘Even though this place is in a novel, I haven’t met a wizard yet.’

When Fresa couldn’t make a decision easily, Lycaon quietly intervened.

“It’s going to be pretty cool. I know a good place to take a look.”

“Are you going too, uncle? I wanted to go alone with miss…”

Daisy pursed her lips and glanced at Lycaon. But Lycaon paid no heed to those stares.

“It’s okay to take a day off, Resa.”

“That’s right! Miss, just for today! Yes? Yes? I even got permission from my father!”

Even Daisy quickly stepped in to help. Fresa, who looked at the two people’s faces in turn, eventually nodded her head.

“Just a little bit instead.”

“Hurray!”

Daisy cheered, throwing her arms up. Fresa smiled with a strange feeling, as if she had a new little sister.

* * *

It was the time when the sun was halfway under the water. Fresa headed to the lighthouse with Lycaon and Daisy on either side. The front of the lighthouse was already crowded with villagers and tourists who had arrived earlier. The three people stood in a suitable place.

“There are a lot of people.”

Lycaon muttered, holding the little candied apple whole.

“After all, it’s the last day!”

Daisy responded, brandishing the same candy as Lycaon. The two of them gave off a sweet, sweet scent. This was because they had already bought several snacks on the way. Fresa advised Lycaon that he should refrain from consuming a lot of sugar. This was because recovery from his wounds could be slow. However, Lycaon slyly ignored it, saying to just look at it for today. He even placed a glass jar full of small star-shaped candies in Fresa’s hands. Not to be outdone, Daisy also presented Fresa with a wreath made of roses. Fresa suddenly became the person who enjoyed the festival more than anyone else.

“Ah, Uncle Lycaon. Where is that famous spot? This is the best place to see fireworks!”

Daisy, who was chewing on a corner of the candy, looked at Lycaon. Lycaon held up a candy and pointed to the lighthouse.

“Lighthouse. How is it?”

“Yes? The lighthouse is off-limits during the festival!”

Daisy made an absurd expression. Fresa was also curious. She was told that the lord, worried about safety accidents, had blocked access to the lighthouse until today.

‘Are you just saying this?’

Because Lycaon was good at saying nonsense like this. As she was trying to ignore it, a knight came to see Daisy. He must have been wandering in the wheat field for quite some time and had blades of grass in his hair.

“Lady, the lord is looking for you.”

“What? Now? I can’t…”

Daisy looked at Fresa with a sullen face. He came to see fireworks with Fresa, but seemed disappointed that he couldn’t do so. Still, it’s great because watching it with her family would be a much better memory. Fresa said, stroking Daisy’s head.

“Go quickly. If we look at the same thing from the same place, it will feel like we are together.”

Daisy’s eyes were greatly touched by Fresa’s words.

“Yes, I understand. Well then, see you tomorrow! Hello to you too!”

Daisy smiled brightly and followed the knight away, waving her hand. Lycaon tilted his head towards Fresa as if he was waiting.

“Then let’s go to the lighthouse.”

“But the lighthouse is blocked.”

Fresa looked at him and blinked. She hoped it wasn’t some ignorant plan to sneak in. Fortunately, Lycaon’s answer was different.

“I borrowed it. Just this evening. Anything is possible with money.”

‘You’re bragging like this about having a lot of money.’

Fresa laughed because she was a little dumbfounded. But the first day she saw the lighthouse she wanted to climb up from there. Plus, she was excited to see fireworks up close.

“Great.”

When Fresa accepted, Lycaon held out his arms.

“Shall we go, Resa?”

Did she really need to cross her arms? While she was thinking about it, the first firework went up into the sky making a loud noise. And it spread into a beautiful shape.

“Resa, hurry.”

Lycaon whispered to Fresa, who was looking up at the sky blankly. Fresa nodded her head as if possessed by something and placed her hand on his arm.
