The Villainess Doesn't Need a New Husband

TVDNANH

Episode 3

“That was a waste…….”

April muttered in a grim voice.

In the original novel, the male protagonist, Crown Prince Eshelot, is smitten with my stepmother, who is my age.

In other words, he falls in love at first sight with my father’s future husband.

He knows it’s a love that can’t be fulfilled, but it doesn’t stop him from falling for her, and it drives him to madness. …….

Eventually, he kills his father, the emperor, with his own hands.

The rest of the story is predictable.

The young, new emperor, blinded by love, imprisons his stepmother, Helena, the heroine, deep in the palace and tortures her.

In such an adaptation, April’s role is that of a villainess. She is the unfortunate one who, through the machinations of her stepfather, is sold into marriage to a dead count.

After her soul-marriage, April abandons her life in a hurry, and goes out with every man who sees her and flirts with her.

She is scorned by her social circle, even being called the ‘prodigal daughter of the Beska Empire’.

The only man she fails to seduce is the crown prince, Eschlott.

He is only devoted to the female protagonist, Helena, which drives April crazy.

In a fit of jealousy, April tries to poison Helena, and when she is discovered, she dies at the hands of the male protagonist.

“In my previous life, in this life……. I’m so blessed, I’m so blessed.”

She sighs, remembering her role in the original.

April’s ending was supposed to be a death, so it wasn’t a problem.

She let out a long, deep breath.

“This is so crazy.”

No matter how hard I rummaged through my memory, I couldn’t find anything more than what came to mind.

As a minor character, April’s story wasn’t told in detail in the novel.

Furthermore, the beginning of the novel already had April’s infamous reputation as a prodigal daughter, so it was technically a prequel to the main story.

“So I guess that means I’m on my own in the end…….”

She grumbled, casting her gaze back to the newcomer.

“They’re supposed to give you a buff or two when you’re originally possessed that you can use……. Why am I like this, like this?”

I tried to talk to the statue earlier to see if it had been granted some sort of ability that allowed it to talk to the gods, but it didn’t seem to be this type.

Still, the good news was that April had remembered how to do it, so at least she wouldn’t be able to use it as leverage in the future.

“Chet. You’re not going to give me any abilities other than this bullshit about not possessing the main character.”

It was useless to argue with the figure, she realized, so she stood up and walked over to the door.

Grabbing the handle, she pulled as hard as she could, but the door would not open, only creaking softly.

She rocked it back and forth a few more times, but it seemed unwilling to open.

“They must have locked it from the outside, thinking I’d run away.”

With her back to the door, she looked around the room once more. Like the punishment chambers used by the priests, there were no windows, so there was no escape.

Unable to stand, April returned to her seat on the couch.

“I assume you already took your wedding vows…… with you?”

A heavy sigh escaped her lips. This was the biggest fly-by-night wedding I’ve ever seen, even in the Korean Capitol.

When I realized I couldn’t win with words, I remembered the face of the old raccoon of an archbishop who tried to evict me by force with his paladins.

“Ace, you’re feverish again.”

April cursed, raising her slender arms to ruffle his hot hair.

“Oh, damn it. I’ve got to get out of this sham marriage one way or another.”

She sighed deeply and covered my face with both hands.

She sighed deeply and covered her face with her hands.

“It’s all because of that damned Viscount Levelne!”

Viscount Levelne. April’s stepfather, the man who had pushed her life into the pit of despair.

“He’s so mean. Just see him. I’ll pull all the hair out of your head and make you bald.”

Somehow, once I was dead, I felt like I had an anger management disorder.

April was alone in her room, cursing at the top of her lungs.

Without warning, the door to her room swung open. It was Archbishop Raccoon, who had officiated at the soul wedding earlier.

He looked a little surprised to see April sitting on the couch with a horned look on her face.

“Ah. You’re awake. I was coming to wake you up.”

“Don’t you have any manners? Or do you have no hands, and where did you learn to knock?”

April frowned lightly, her voice rising.

She wondered if her earlier momentum had been killed by being scared while she’d been locked up, but she realized that was probably a bad idea.

The Archbishop took a step back, his expression shaky.

“Well, I beg your pardon.”

The archbishop closed the door slightly. A moment later, there was a soft knock on the door.

“May I come in?”

“Please spare me your ridiculous skit.”

Sharp as it was, it was no more than an invitation to enter, so the archbishop strode in.

“I was a little worried about you when you suddenly collapsed during the ceremony, but I’m so relieved to see you here and in one piece.”

“……What brings you here?”

“I have come to inform you of the arrival of the carriage that is to carry your wife.”

“The carriage of Viscount Lebelin? Or is it Count Facon’s carriage?”

“The carriage that will take you to your husband, Count Falcon, of course.”

April frowned.

“I wonder what I should do…….

Should I try to force myself to return to Viscount Levelne, or should I just leave the temple and go to Count Farkon.

Of course, I knew there was a way to escape, but I didn’t think it was realistic.

After all, I’d been so unruly in the dining hall before I lost my mind, I’m sure he’s on high alert for me.

Besides, I’m not feeling well right now, so it’s better to save it for later.

April quickly decided to climb into the Count’s carriage.

The stepfather who had raised her for nineteen years, albeit as a stepdaughter, had sold her to the dead without remorse.

If he had already received the money from Count Falcon, there was no way he would let my daughter return to her family.

“If he sold her once, why not twice?

They say the first time is the hardest.

And the second time is much more likely to be in a worse place, like the Changguan or the slave market.

In the original story, April was described as always mesmerizing men with her innocent beauty.

With a woman so beautifully set up, there’s no need to spell out the tragedy of her lower status.

‘I’m going to get out of here and take a look in the mirror. How pretty you look.

Taking a short breath, April rose from her seat.

“Good thing, because if I saw Viscount Levelne’s face, I think I’d lose my temper again and rip his head off. He’s got the sense of a rat, after all. Tsk.”

The Archbishop winced at her venomous words.

Whether he did or not, April tilted her chin upward in a high-minded manner.

“I suppose you’ll escort me to my carriage?”

“……Of course.”

The Archbishop’s expression tightened. The smile on his face was thick, as if he hadn’t had the slightest intention of sending her off alone in the first place.

“You may go, Countess.”

The Archbishop turned and stood, holding the open door.

It was astonishing to see the door open so effortlessly, so effortlessly, when it hadn’t even flinched when he’d grabbed it earlier.

‘The archbishop and the temple must be in league with my stepfather.

If they weren’t, they wouldn’t have to hold me so tightly.

April clamped down on her tongue, resisting the urge to click it, and started walking.

Outside, as much as she wanted to be outside, it wasn’t much different than inside. There were no windows, either.

“They put him in a corner.

April followed the Archbishop angrily through the halls of the temple.

They hadn’t gone far when she heard footsteps coming from the opposite direction.

Soon, two men emerged from the darkness. Unlike the archbishop, they both looked younger.

The man walking in front of him seemed to be a priest, as he wore the same vestments as the archbishop, albeit in a different color.

But the man behind him was different. He was not, to say the least, polite or well-dressed.

He wore a rather loose-fitting robe that was open to his chest, as if the temple were his own home.

His silver bangs, which slightly covered his eyes, also contributed to his mysterious aura.

‘Light……? Aha, the color of your hair.

I know it’s strange to feel this way about a man, but it’s true.

His head is slightly bowed, but he’s handsome and tall. And every line of his body was beautiful.

“Handsome.

Deep-set eyeholes and a high, straight bridge of the nose. His silver eyelashes, slightly lowered, were languid.

And his slightly parted red lips kept drawing attention to himself.

He was definitely not a strong man, but he wasn’t fragile either.

He had lines that could only be described as beautiful.

‘He’s got an eye-catching look.

Okay, she’d admit it.

But that was as far as April’s admiration went. She quickly withdrew her gaze from the man.

“I’m done with men.

I didn’t want my life to be controlled by men anymore.
