As autumn passed, the air had become cold enough that it seemed like the first snow was about to fall in the royal capital of the Kingdom of Glastona.
Three months had passed since Sophia and Randall got married.
Since their marriage, Randall had been staying at the castle but had begun returning to the Voltio Duke’s residence last month.
The catalyst for this change was Johannes’s remark.
“Lord Kyle is truly fond of the lady. Just the other day, he brought a chocolate tart that is apparently popular in the castle town as a present. She looked so happy… If you’re not careful, she might be taken away from you.”
Kyle, the legitimate son of Duke Levord, was a friend of Randall and was attempting to propose to Sophia. He had even declared that he would seize any opportunity to take her away. Upon hearing this, Randall became furious.
Sophia was Randall’s wife. Allowing a lover to exist, and worse, to be taken away would be a disgrace for the Voltio Duke’s family for generations to come. If he let Sophia roam freely, terrible things could happen. Yes, this was for the sake of surveillance.
Randall came up with a list of reasons that he could accept, and decided to “reluctantly” return to the Duke’s house.
Although Johannes’s smirk irritated him, it was a husband’s duty to prevent his wife’s infidelity. He wasn’t doing anything wrong.
Thus, Randall returned to the Duke’s residence, but it seemed that news of this had reached the king, and one winter morning, just after he had presented himself at court, he was summoned by the king.
“It seems that your work must be winding down. So, where do you intend to go?”
Randall had no idea what the King wanted to say.
As he tilted his head, the King continued impatiently.
“What are you dawdling for? It’s obviously for your honeymoon!”
“Huh?”
“Since it’s getting cold, somewhere warm would be nice. Velthunt is warm year-round. It would be perfect for this time of year.”
“A honeymoon… you say?”
Caught off guard by the unexpected remark, Randall’s mind went blank.
The king then raised his eyebrows.
“You weren’t planning on going, were you?! These days, it’s all the rage for young couples to travel under the guise of a honeymoon after getting married!”
Despite being middle-aged, the king seemed oddly well-informed about the current trends among “young people.”
Internally, Randall clicked his tongue. Could it be that his father-in-law was forcing him into a honeymoon? However, saying “I’m not going” here would clearly sour his uncle’s mood. After all, the king dearly adored his second daughter, Sophia.
Randall wondered how he could avoid the topic.
“…I have a mountain of work to do.”
“Don’t lie. I know you’ve already finished work for the next six months.”
Dammit. Randall cursed in his mind.
The king snorted and ordered the silent Randall.
“Go on honeymoon with Sophia. We’ll go by boat to the country of Verhund. I’ll arrange the boat tickets for you.”
As he thought about the most troublesome aspect of marrying Sophia, it occurred to Randall that it was the existence of this overindulgent father-in-law.
* * *
“Wait! You’re going on a honeymoon to Velthunt? That’s awesome!”
Two days after Randall announced their honeymoon, Alina Legato, who had come for a visit, made a jealous face upon hearing about it from Sophia.
Velthunt was the kingdom of Prince Cyril, the target of the game’s affection. Moreover, Alina was a big supporter of Cyril. She expressed a desire to join them, but as an earl’s daughter, it was highly inappropriate for her to tag along on a honeymoon. Orion, the bodyguard, and the maid, Isolte, would accompany them, though.
Prince Cyril Velthunt was the first prince of Velthunt and would be 22 years old two years after the start of the game “Snow of Glastona,” meaning he is currently 20. With silver hair and purple eyes, he embodied the image of a perfect prince, although he harbored a slightly dark side—he was a prince skilled in scheming. Even in the early stages of the game, he would involve the heroine, Kira, for his own convenience, but he would end up falling for her in the process.
As Cyril’s affection level rose, he became kinder, and this gap earned him a devoted fan base, of which Alina had been one in her previous life.
Sophia didn’t dislike Cyril— in fact, she liked all the romance targets— but above all, Sophia loved Randall, so her intensity toward Cyril was on a different level than Alina’s.
“But even if you say you’re going to Velthunt, it’s just a trip—it’s not diplomacy, and I don’t plan on greeting the royal family or anything.”
Velthunt was located south of Glastona, across the sea, and was dotted with ruins and nature, making it a great travel destination. This was purely a honeymoon, not a diplomatic mission. To put it more plainly, Sophia had never engaged in diplomacy since being brought to the castle as a princess. While Sophia’s name had become well-known after the king recognized her as the second princess, very few people knew what she looked like. No one would pay attention if a low-profile princess visited..
“What a shame! I wanted to see what the 20-year-old Prince Cyril was like!”
“Once you turn 20, people don’t change much!” Orion replied, and Alina retorted hotly.
“That’s not true! His hairstyle might be different! Even if it’s not, I still want to see that beautiful face! I want to see Cyril alive and moving!”
“It’d be nice if we at least had a camera.”
Sophia often thought this. She wished to capture Randall’s handsome features in a lens. Unfortunately, there were no cameras in this world.
“Exactly!”
Alina pointed her index finger at Sophia.
“A camera! Let’s make a camera! And take some pictures of Cyril from a distance! That’s a great idea!”
“What part of that is brilliant?”
“Like I said, I’m not going to the castle in Velthunt…”
Sophia and Orion exchanged exasperated glances., but Alina is completely excited.
“Now that that’s decided, we can’t just sit here and do nothing! When are we leaving?”
“Um, in ten days. We’ll be sailing on the Queen Amiriana for five days.”
The Queen Amiriana is a luxury cruise ship from the country of Verhund, which has been focusing on tourism in recent years. It will take five days to slowly sail on the open sea of the Baleen Sea, connecting the port of Abilia in the northwest of Glastona and the port of Casarus in the west of Verhund.
According to Randall, the ticket has already been obtained by the king, Sophia’s father, and it’s one of only three royal suites on the ship. It’s the highest class, even higher than a first-class cabin.
“Okay! Ten days from now!”
Alina seems serious about making a camera. She quickly stands up and hurries out of the room, saying, “I can’t stay like this!”
Sophia and Orion look at each other,
“…Do you think they can make a camera?”
“I vote no.”
“Yeah, you’re right.”
Sophia vaguely recalled the cardboard camera she had made in elementary school using thermal paper, but cardboard and thermal paper didn’t exist in this world, and they were leaving in ten days. It was likely impossible, and she chuckled at the thought.
