As soon as Sophia returned to the store, Orion came running up to her.
“You shouldn’t come out.”
She was grabbed by the arm and pulled behind the counter.
“I heard a huge noise, what happened?”
“What can I say… After Gasur came, someone in a hood showed up, and just as they were talking for a bit, Gasur suddenly got angry and threw everything off the table.”
Peeking from behind the counter, Sophia saw Gasur lunging at the hooded person. The hooded figure tried to escape, but Gasur had already grabbed their arm and pinned them against the wall.
From their slender frame and shorter height, it looked like it might be a woman. The hair peeking out from the hood was a reddish-brown color.
“You’re not that woman from before! Let her go!”
Whether it was due to being drunk or angry… Gasur, with a flushed face, was shouting towards the woman in the hood. The woman, trembling with fear, quietly returned some words, but was then grabbed by the collar by the even angrier Gasur.
“Orion, this is seriously bad!”
If this continued, she might suffocate. Even the regular customers and the owner of the shop seemed to have deemed the situation dangerous and tried to intervene, but Gasur, in a rage, kept shouting, preventing them from getting close.
Arina and Isolte were also standing in a daze in the corner of the shop.
“I guess there’s no helping it. If we cause a disturbance here, it’ll draw a lot of attention… Can I borrow that rolling pin over there?”
When Orion asked Theo, he awkwardly nodded and handed her the rolling pin.
“It’s a little short, but well, it should work.”
Orion had been trained in martial arts since childhood. Even if her opponent was a man, she wouldn’t lose to someone who was merely angry and causing a scene.
Just as Orion was about to approach Gasur with the rolling pin in one hand, a man silently approached Gasur, who was gripping the woman’s collar. The moment after that, Gasur let out a small groan and collapsed to the ground.
“Well, this wasn’t part of the plan, but oh well. I’ll be taking you in for assault. Oh, and you too. I need to ask you some questions.”
The man said this while scratching his head in exasperation. He was the one who had been drinking alone at the corner of the shop. Sophia recognized him since she had served him a few times. Whenever she brought him food or drink, he would smile warmly.
(I feel like I’ve seen that person somewhere before…)
While relieved that Gasur had released the woman from his grip, Sophia stepped out from behind the counter, and Izolt and Alina approached her.
“We should leave now before we get caught up in this mess; it seems like this could turn into quite a situation.”
Alina whispered to Sophia, and she nodded. We’re not telling Randall here. It would be terrible if he found out we were here.
Seeing the owner struggling, they were about to say something to Theo and prepare to leave when, unexpectedly, someone entered the shop, preventing them from escaping.
(Randall…!)
The one who quietly entered the bustling shop was Randall.
Randall heard from a servant that Sophia had gone out dressed as a town girl, and immediately headed for the area where Gasur was living by carriage.
After hearing from his servant that Sophia had gone out dressed as a town girl, Randall immediately headed toward where Gasur lived. Along the way, he met up with a man who had been following Sophia and learned that she hadn’t gone to Gasur’s house, but rather entered a tavern called “Crescent Moon”.
It was clear that four young woman going into a tavern filled with drunkards would attract unwanted attention.
“Why didn’t you stop them?”
Randall yelled at the man tailing Sophia, who merely shrugged, informing him that the group wasn’t heading there to eat or drink. Apparently, they were working as servers there. Randall became increasingly shocked and felt like he wanted to bury his head in his hands.
“…What are you thinking?”
While feeling exhausted, he couldn’t just sit around. Even if Sophia was serving, drunk patrons would likely harass her. Feeling a small twinge of irritation at having to deal with this during such a busy time, Randall stepped through the shop’s door, his eyes widening in surprise.
The atmosphere inside the store was filled with an unusual kind of noise, different from the usual drunken revelry. In the back, he spotted a man lying on the floor and what appeared to be a hooded woman crouched down beside him. Upon closer inspection, the man lying on the floor was Gasur, and the one standing next to him was…
“Kyle!?”
Though the color of his hair was black, there was no mistake that this was Kyle Levard.
Upon seeing Randall, Kyle’s face displayed surprise, but the next moment, he smiled faintly and pointed at the sprawled Gasur.
“This is just perfect. It wouldn’t do to create a scene here. Could you help me carry him?”
Randall had no idea what was going on.
