When Randall returned to the Duke of Voltius’ house with the chocolates given to him by the King, a boy was just leaving through the entrance.
The boy was wearing a dirty shirt and trousers, and it was immediately obvious that he was not a nobleman. He looked to be in his mid-teens. He had short black hair and was slim.
Wondering what he wanted, the boy spotted Randall, bowed deeply, and quickly left.
“Who is that?”
As soon as he entered the entrance, he asked the butler Johannes, who simply told him that the boy seemed to be an acquaintance of Sophia.
“Someone she knows?”
“Yes. He came to visit unexpectedly, and it seemed like he and madam were very close. I don’t think they were alone together, so it’s okay.”
Johannes smiled faintly, as if teasing Randall, and he felt annoyed.
“I didn’t ask that. You don’t need to say anything unnecessary.”
“My apologies.”
“So, where is Sophia?”
“I believe she is in her room with Lord Orion right now.”
“With… Orion?”
“Yes. Is there something wrong?”
“You said you wouldn’t leave her alone with the boy from earlier, but are you going to leave her alone with Orion?”
“Yes?”
Johannes was dumbfounded, but Randall passed by him and silently went up the stairs.
(What’s up with everyone!)
Randall was so irritated that he couldn’t understand the reason, and he felt the urge to kick the wall nearby.
When he entered Sophia’s room, he faced Orion with a difficult expression on his face.
When Randall entered the room, Sophia looked up in surprise and stood up.
“Welcome back.”
It must have been very strange for her to have Randall back. She tilted her head slightly. Randall didn’t understand, but it irritated him.
(This is my house. Is it so rare for me to come home?)
Randall was thinking selfish things, completely ignoring the fact that he usually sleeps at the castle and never comes to the mansion.
Randall silently handed over a box of chocolates.
It’s from His Majesty. He also said that you should go visit the castle sometimes.”
“From father?”
Sophia took the box and then laughed happily. Randall’s heart skipped a beat at Sophia’s smile. She didn’t smile much in front of Randall. When Sophia, with her gorgeous features, smiled, her eyes were drawn to him as if a large rose had opened.
Randall’s emotions, which had been fraying, began to rise a little at Sophia’s smile, but when she looked back at Orion with a smile, his mood plummeted in an instant.
“Orion! It’s chocolate! Can Isolte prepare some tea please? Isolte, let’s eat together!”
‘Orion’ again. Orion was Sophia’s bodyguard when they lived in the castle, but weren’t these two just too close?
As Sophia sat on the sofa and began to open the box of chocolates, Randall sat down opposite her without saying a word. Sophia looked up, puzzled.
“Are you having some chocolate too, Randall?”
“… I don’t need it.”
“So, do you still need something?”
“Would it be a problem if I’m here?”
“Eh? No, it’s not like that…”
Sophia tilted her head several times as she asked Isolte for some tea for Randall as well.
Randall was annoyed at Orion, who was grinning as he checked the contents of the chocolate box from behind Sophia.
“Orion, is there something you want to say to me?”
“No, nothing. Oh, Sophia, I want that chocolate with almonds on it.”
“This one? It’s okay.”
Sophia picked up a chocolate from the box and handed it to Orion. Orion opened his mouth, so Sophia put the chocolate in his mouth.
Randall raised one eyebrow.
What did Sophia do just now? Didn’t she give Orion some chocolate?
Randall’s nausea got worse.
Orion must have been getting carried away, because he asked Sophia for a second chocolate. He took it from Sophia’s hand and put it in his mouth as if it was natural.
The blood vessels in Randall’s brain started to make a popping noise.
“What are you doing!”
Randall raised his voice, and Sophia’s eyes widened.
“What, what?”
“Don’t keep asking what! Are you kidding me, making Orion eat chocolate in front of me?”
“Oh… sorry, maybe I was being rude.”
“That’s not it!”
Sophia didn’t seem to understand what Randall was trying to say.
(Doesn’t she have to tell me?)
Sophia was Randall’s wife. It was completely unacceptable for her to feed chocolate to another “man” in front of her husband. It’s annoying that she did it secretly, but what was she thinking, being friendly with another man so openly?
“You’re my wife, aren’t you?”
“Well, I suppose so…”
Sophia’s face, which had been blank, gradually became suspicious. Randall raised his voice, wondering if she still didn’t understand.
“Whahaha! I can’t take it anymore…! This is too weird…!”
Suddenly Orion burst out laughing, holding his stomach, and Randall’s anger was directed at him.
“What’s so funny!”
“What do you mean…?”
Laughing out loud, Orion untied his hair and sat next to Sophia.
“Sir, I’m a woman, you know?”
“…Huh?”
“Oh, didn’t Isolte tell you? Orion is a woman.”
“…What?”
Randall turned back to Isolte without thinking. Then, as if she knew, she nodded and said, “Lord Orion is a woman.”
“…”
Randall fell silent, slowly stood up, and left the room without a word.
After leaving the room, he remembered that he had forgotten to ask about the black-haired boy he had seen earlier, but he had no energy left to visit Sophia again.
