The Villainess’ Beloved Plan: The Struggles to Avoid a Doomed End

CHAPTER 007: The Villainess and the Man Who Claimed to be Her Father 3

The next day, when Randall went to see the King, he was surprisingly nonchalant.

Keira said that there was a rumor going around the castle that Sophia’s real father had appeared, but perhaps it wasn’t as widespread as she said?

Randall thought that the King might not know about the rumor, but as soon as Randall entered the room, the King laughed and said, “You probably came here because you heard some stupid rumor, didn’t you?”

“…Did his Majesty know?”

“Of course, the Queen, the princess, and even the ministers came this morning.”

“So many…”

It was understandable that the Queen and the Princess came. The Queen had always viewed Sophia, born between her husband and a maid, with hostility and had openly opposed taKing her into the castle.

But the ministers as well… Surprisingly, many of the ministers were supposed to have a favorable opinion of Sophia. When Randall wondered about this, the King squinted his eyes with interest.

“The ministers are saying that there must be a misunderstanding. Many of them know about Rizete. They came to say that she is not the kind of woman to act so recklessly. I, too, believe so.”

“So Your Majesty doesn’t believe the rumors?”

“Of course not. Sophia is definitely my child. Look, the shape of her eyebrows is similar to mine, right? And so is her mouth. Right?”

Was it really like that? The King had a rugged face, but Randall didn’t think their eyebrows and mouths were that similar. However, the King, who loved his daughter dearly, insisted that their facial features were alike.

“Huh…”

Randall gave a vague response and then let out a sigh.

If the King wasn’t concerned, then it was fine. If the King were to be enraged and demand Sophia to be arrested immediately, Randall would have no choice but to comply. For now, he felt relieved.

“So, is Sophia doing well?”

“I don’t know. The day before yesterday, when we visited the Duke of Levord’s house, she seemed fine.”

“Duke Levord, huh. His wife was in charge of Rizete’s guardianship. Oh right, a little while after the engagement between you and Sophia was settled, I received complaints from Levord. They were upset that Sophia and you were engaged too soon, as they had considered her to be the wife of their son. If they had proposed to her before your marriage with Sophia, I would have accepted, but it’s good that you were married a little earlier, Randall.”

To the carefree words of the King, Randall felt irritated. It was yesterday that he heard from Kyle, the son of Duke Levord, that he was interested in being engaged to Sophia.

(…What does he see in her?)

He couldn’t understand it well, but he felt nauseous.

Sophia may be beautiful, but she was a cruel person who bullied Keira. It was incomprehensible. Furthermore, Sophia was already Randall’s wife, so why bring up past matters now? What was he trying to do?

The King suddenly became serious and rested his chin on his hand.

“I heard that you are still staying overnight at the castle. If you continue to neglect Sophia, I will annul the marriage and marry you off to Levord’s son.”

“…Is that a threat?”

The King didn’t reply, but stood up as if he had just remembered something.

“Right. Give this to Sophia. It’s chocolate from a famous shop in the capital. Listen? Make sure to tell her that it’s from me. And also, tell her to come and visit the castle occasionally.”

Randall sighed as the King handed him a box of chocolates.
