“That man, did he really say he’s Sophia’s father?”
The next day, Sophia called Alina in for an emergency meeting, and the three of them, including Orion, met face to face.
Since returning from the tea party at the Duke of Revord’s mansion, Sophia has been looking serious, and Isolte was very worried about her, but she thoughtfully left the room so as not to disturb her wife’s conversation with her friends.
With only the three reincarnated people in the room, Sophia decided to explain the events of the previous day in detail.
The man who suddenly appeared as they were about to leave the tea party at the Duke of Levoard’s residence had introduced himself as Sophia’s father.
His name was Gasur, and he had apparently been employed as a gatekeeper when Sophia’s mother, Rizete, had worked in the castle. Rizete was later forced to leave the castle, and Gasur had quit his job shortly after in search of her but couldn’t find her. Gasur explained that Rizete probably found out she was pregnant and didn’t want to cause him trouble, so she disappeared from his sight.
“That seems a bit contradictory. Sophia’s mother was chased out of the castle because she had an affair with His Majesty. It would be strange if she had another lover.”
“Right?”
“I thought so too, but Gasur insisted that I was his child and wouldn’t listen.”
Sophia was confused at the time, and Gasur told her that he was now living in the area where Sophia used to live and asked her to come and see him, before leaving.
Even Randall, who usually calls Sophia a fake princess, was surprised by Gasur’s sudden appearance and warned Sophia to avoid taking any rash actions, saying that he would investigate him.
“I bought the guidebook and setting book for ‘The Snows of Glastona’, but I’ve never seen Gasur’s name.”
“…You even bought the setting book.”
Orion looked surprised, but Alina said, “Oh, I had one too,” so she stopped teasing Sophia.
“The setting book says that Sophia is His Majesty’s child. Gasur can’t be the father.”
“But if that’s not the case, why did he suddenly appear? He says he was in a relationship with my mother.”
“I don’t think that’s possible either. A maid and a gatekeeper, you know? I can’t imagine there being any connection between them.”
“But, if Gasur isn’t your father or your mother’s lover, then he’s lying. Why would he have to go out of his way to lie like that?”
Orion said something plausible, and silence fell on the room.
What if… What if?
If Gasur was right and he was Sophia’s real father, what would happen to her?
If evidence is gathered that Gasur is Sophia’s father, Randall will surely have to divorce Sophia, who is a complete stranger. What’s more, he may be charged with plotting against the king.
“…Even though it’s not in the story of ‘The Snows of Glastona’, if Gasur were to be my father, it would undoubtedly lead to a disastrous end, right?”
“That’s right… Imprisonment, banishment – or even the worst case scenario, the death penalty…”
“Nooooooo!”
Sophia cried, clutching her head.
This was bad. This was just too bad.
“What?! The prologue hasn’t even started yet! It’s two years from now! That’s weird!”
“Calm down, Sophia. It hasn’t been decided yet that Gasur is your father.”
Alina hurriedly tries to calm Sophia, but Sophia, who is starting to panic as she imagines the worst possible future, stands up and walks around the room.
“Randall will divorce me! What if I get executed…!”
Randall, who treated Sophia as an imposter, would surely not protect her.
“Calm down for a second. It hasn’t been decided yet. You won’t know anything until you investigate.”
Orion grabbed Sophia’s hand and made her sit on the sofa.
“For now, let’s investigate whether Gasur really worked as a gatekeeper in the castle. And also if he had any interactions with your mother. Leave it to me.”
Alina put her hand on Sophia’s shoulder.
