The Villainess’ Beloved Plan: The Struggles to Avoid a Doomed End

CHAPTER 014: The villainess attracts attention at the dance party 4

Sophia spilled red wine on Keira’s dress.

Randall said so, but Sophia didn’t do anything.

(Red wine… Could it be the red wine incident?)

The “Red Wine Incident” was an event that occurred in the game “The Snows of Glastona”. This was an event in which Sophia poured red wine on Keira’s dress to humiliate her, but in the game, the event occurred two years later, and Sophia had been in this place the whole time without getting close to Keira.

Sophia was surprised that she was being suspected, but Randall in front of her was angry and seemed unwilling to listen to her side of the story.

“What on earth did Keira do to you? Why did you do such childish harassment!?”

With Randall’s sternness, people near Sophia began to surround them.

“I-I didn’t do anything…”

“Don’t lie!”

“I’m not lying.”

Even when Sophia retorted, Randall still didn’t listen to her.

However Sophia had been here the whole time. She hadn’t even picked up a glass of red wine. All she had in her hand was the glass of cocktail Randall gave her. First of all, it was Randall who told her to behave here. Sophia had followed his instructions and had been here all along. Why was she being doubted?

As Sophia stood perplexed, the noble ladies who were a little further away from Randall spoke up.

“I saw it! Lady Sophia spilled red wine on Lady Keira’s dress!”

“Yes, it was quite an outburst!”

“Lady Keira didn’t do anything.”

“This is what you get when you let someone from a commoner background be near noble people.”

As the noble ladies continued to blame and criticize Sophia, she felt shocked.

Even though she hadn’t done anything, she was being accused of spilling red wine. An outburst? She hadn’t even greeted Keira today?

In response to the words of the noble ladies, Randall seemed even more furious.

As Randall grabbed Sophia’s wrist, prepared to drag her away, an unexpected person intervened.

“Lady Sophia didn’t do anything.”

Turning around, there was Alina elegantly tipping her glass of champagne.

“Lady Sophia was here talking to me the whole time, so how could she pour red wine on Lady Keira’s dress?”

It was surprising that Alina stood up for Sophia. The noble ladies who had been blaming Sophia were taken aback, but quickly retorted.

“That was before you started talking to her!”

“Oh, didn’t you see her with Duke Voltio here before I talked to her? I’m sure many of you saw them dancing.”

“B-before that!”

As the noble ladies continued to argue, Randall seemed to finally realize something was off and released Sophia’s hand.

“…My wife has been with me ever since we entered this venue.”

That was true. The only time she had been away from Randall since entering the venue was just a moment ago. Soon after that, Alina spoke to her, so Sophia hadn’t had a moment to be alone.

Alina finished her champagne and smiled.

“Lady Sophia did nothing. If red wine was poured on Lady Keira’s dress, it must have been someone other than Lady Sophia. Are you sure you witnessed Lady Sophia spilling red wine on Lady Keira’s dress? If so, that person is an imposter pretending to be Lady Sophia. We need to find them immediately and punish them accordingly.”

As Alina calmly smiled while making assertive statements, the momentum of the noble ladies accusing Sophia started to wane.

“You there. You said you saw Lady Sophia pour red wine on Lady Keira’s dress, right? Can you tell me more about it? We need to find the culprit who tried to frame Lady Sophia.”

When Alina turned her gaze to one of the ladies who had criticized Sophia, she seemed flustered. “Oh, I-It may have been a misunderstanding on my part, you see,” she said, and quickly tried to leave, with the other ladies following her.

Alina gently grabbed Sophia’s hand, who was surprised by the unexpected help.

“It got quite noisy, didn’t it? Shall we go to the restroom?”

“Uh, uh…”

Sophia looked back at Randall. His expression had changed from anger to confusion as if he was caught in a lie. When their eyes met, he looked embarrassed and averted his gaze, and Sophia thought that it would be better to leave for a while and keep some distance.

She headed to the break room with Alina, and after making sure that no one was in the room, Alina locked the door.

“Phew, what a mess.”

“Uh, um… well, thank you for helping me.”

“No problem, besides, there was something that was bothering me too.”

As Alina sat down on the sofa and picked up a package of chocolates that was on the table, Sophia Sophia sat on the sofa opposite her. Alina stared at her, rolling the chocolate around in her mouth.

“It’s really strange.”

After closely observing Sophia, Alina chewed the chocolate, which had become small, and moved closer to her.

“Lady Sophia, I’m going to say something a little strange, but if you don’t recognize it, please ignore it.”

“…Eh?”

“The Snows of Glastona.”

“…!”

Sophia’s eyes widened.

Seeing Sophia’s reaction, Alina smiled slyly.

“I thought so. I had a feeling.”

“Wait, Lady Alina… then you also…”

“It’s fine to call me Alina. Yes. I’m a reincarnated person.”

Sophia stood up in surprise, her breath catching.

Alina put the second chocolate into her mouth.

“I was surprised when I remembered my past life. I never thought that Lady Sophia was a reincarnated person, too. I have nothing to do with the story, but being reincarnated as Sophia was… a misfortune.”

“You can call me Sophia. But how did you know?”

“The first time I thought something was strange was when I heard that Sophia had married Randall. Randall and Sophia were engaged, but not married. I thought maybe it was just a deviation of the story, but after talking to you I was convinced. Because Sophia’s character in the game is so different. Did you marry Randall to change the game’s story?”

When Sophia nodded, Alina also nodded in agreement.

“I don’t want the bad ending.”

“Exactly. I also want Sophia to be happy too. But to be honest, I couldn’t like the heroine, Keira, in that game. She was always playing the victim and crying, and only relying on the people around her. So, is it really going well for you to marry Randall?”

“Well…”

Sophia explained the situation to Alina. After listening to her story, Alina frowned, expressing her discomfort.

“Keira is really something. And it seems like Randall doesn’t have good feelings towards you.”

“Yeah, I think he just sees me as a surveillance target.”

“There are two more years until the game starts. Until then, it might be a bit tough if we don’t at least get Randall on your side.”

Alina stroked her chin as if thinking, then looked up and smiled.

“I just wanted to enjoy watching the characters in the game from a distance, but this is getting interesting. Sophia, please let me help you out.”
