The Villain Dreams Of World Peace

Episode 08: The Demon King’s Magic Class

“Do you mean…this?”

“Yeah. Give me a bite of that.”

Muriel quickly snatched the chicken leg from August’s stiff hand, hardened in surprise.

She could pretend not to see it when it was being distributed, but she couldn’t bear it when her senses were stimulated in front of her. The taste of chicken was already vividly in her mind before she even took a bite.

The crispy texture and the sensation of teeth sinking into it were perfect. But… but the taste…

“This is just too much.”

In her mind, chicken had a heavenly taste, but in her mouth, it was just a soggy, greasy lump. Suddenly, she hated the world. If she had to continue enduring this torture of living while chewing on fragrant paper bundles of food… it felt like the end of the world was not far away.

“You need to eat meat to gain strength, right?”

Sigh…”

“Why? Does it not taste good?”

When Muriel put down the chicken leg, which was nothing more than a paper illustration, August asked.

“Should I have our mansion’s chef prepare some food? It would be better than the food here.”

“No, it would probably be the same.”

“Our chef is excellent at cooking lamb. It has no smell, and when you take a bite, it’s so juicy that flavor fills your mouth-“

“August, please stop torturing me.”

“?”

Muriel scooped up the green soup in front of her. She didn’t know what it was, but since it was green, she assumed it was something good for her body. Since she couldn’t taste anything, she preferred food that went down smoothly rather than having to chew and swallow.

“Ah!”

“Why?”

“Never mind.”

Muriel was gulping down the soup expressionlessly when her eyes met Kaiton’s. When did he appear? She’d been trying so hard to avoid him all this time, but here she was, meeting the two people here. Today was really not her lucky day.

“He’s staring at me again…”

Kaiton stopped eating and was just staring at Muriel. It was strange that Muriel hadn’t noticed Kaiton’s true identity in the novel when he was making it so obvious.

“Who’s looking at you, Muriel? Well, you’re the Star of the Saint, after all. It must be out of curiosity.”

“If he becomes any more curious, the look in those eyes might burn me to death.”

When she peeked over again, Muriel found him still looking at her with a strange expression. She couldn’t understand why he was making people uncomfortable while not taking a bite when he came here to eat. Was he still suspecting about the magic on Muriel after all this time?

“You’ll have to get used to it. Whether you become a saint or not, everyone in the kingdom will know Muriel from now on.”

“Isn’t a saint supposed to be someone with little worldly presence?”

Muriel leaned her elbow on the table, trying to escape Kaiton’s persistent gaze, and covered her face, pretending to focus on the conversation. She had once insulted the foolish ostrich for burying its head in the sand, but now she understood the sad bird’s heart. Just having her line of sight clear brought her some comfort.

She wondered if Kaiton was still staring at her while she kept her eyes covered, but she couldn’t lower her arm that was acting as a blindfold.

Muriel forced down her tasteless soup. It helped to erase the awkwardness of just sitting there, and she wanted to finish her bowl and leave the table as soon as possible.

“It’s because they practically went extinct for 12 years and have re-appeared. That’s why it’s become more special.”

“Hmph, the last one should have done well while they were still here. Now it’s just as good as beating a dead horse.”

“Is that so?”

August scratched his forehead in embarrassment. Normally, when someone made that gesture, they would appear innocent and pure, but the effect of August’s decadent beauty was extraordinary.

He was just awkwardly scratching his forehead, but he exuded a sweet atmosphere that seemed to seduce people. Muriel wasn’t the only one who felt that way; moans from women could be heard erupting throughout the restaurant at the same time.

Yeah, his appearance was a bit unreasonable. August always showed off his extravagant style, and it suited him perfectly. When someone was so flashy, their face would usually be overshadowed, but his glamorous face always shone the brightest.

“What? Is there something on my face?”

When Muriel looked at him with a sullen expression, August smiled again and brushed his forehead. Oh, he noticed. Muriel couldn’t help but overhear the embarrassing compliments around her. Nevertheless, August pretended not to hear and just continued to smile.

“Gosh, that charming smile… it’s so good to be here. Ah, for the food, I mean.”

“Yes, it’s truly the best. It’s exhilarating every time I eat it. It’s a great restaurant.”

Sigh… It’s deliciously spicy. But it could be even hotter…”

The women began to suddenly praise the food in a clearly exaggerated manner, but it was clear that the admiration wasn’t for the dishes.

“You know they’re not talking about the food, right?”

“Huh? What do you mean?”

“Pretending not to know. Men who know they’re good-looking are somehow annoying. Is this a matter of self-esteem?”

“Really…? Did I seem annoying?”

Well, why ask August? She knew what she felt best herself. She said something strange because she was preoccupied with Kaiton’s gaze.

“No, not at all.”

“Huh? Muriel’s lips…”

Before Muriel could react, August ran his finger across her lips. His fingertip was stained with green soup. Then he pushed it into his mouth and ate it.

“Ugh! Did he touch her lips just now? I think I might be having trouble breathing, ladies….”

“Mm… This is deliciously spicy.”

“Oh my goodness! What kind of karma did Muriel Storm accumulate to gain August’s grace?”

The women, who had been indirectly praising August using the metaphors of food, screamed in excitement. They forgot about secretly stealing glances and openly blushed while looking at August.

“What was that?”

Even though they stared at him with a piercing gaze, August smiled mischievously and remained calm. His laughter was full of playfulness.

“Fan service.”

August replied with a wink, emphasizing each word.

“Do you really think I don’t know? I return the feelings I receive from my fans with all my heart.”

“So, you used me for fan service?”

“I won’t say anything even if Muriel uses me next time.”

“So, you’re admitting you just used me.”

“Well, it depends on how you perceive it… Cough! Cough!”

August, who was casually bringing the soup on his finger to his mouth while enjoying the attention from the crowd, suddenly coughed loudly. Like a person who was poisoned, veins appeared on his throat, and his face turned slightly red from the violent coughing fit.

“What… What is this? Is this also fan service…?”

Cough…!”

“…Should I call a priest?”

As Muriel stood up, August grabbed Muriel’s wrist and coughed again s if he were about to die.

Cough… y-you… what the hell… cough!”

“What? Say it properly.”

Cough…!”

August’s eyes welled up with tears as he gulped down water and raised his head with a look of vengeance. However, Muriel showed little signs of agitation. She remained indifferent even though someone was practically dying in front of them.

August looked at Muriel, who didn’t even bother to show a worried expression, and reflected on whether he had done something to deserve such disdain from Muriel.

Even though he was struggling to breathe, August didn’t miss how Muriel subtly hid her cup, as if afraid that August might drink her water instead of offering him a sip.

“I thought you were poisoned.”

“Have you been eating this kind of thing all this time?”

August roared in frustration. He looked at Muriel with weary eyes.

“With such a casual face….”

He looked like a betrayed wife. Even if someone’s husband had started a new life with a young and beautiful woman, they wouldn’t have made such a miserable expression.

“Why? Is there a problem…?”

Muriel, unable to taste anything, became tense. Was the food spoiled? It would be bad if she was eating it so casually when it’d already gone bad.

“This is Jalapeno soup! Ugh… My throat still feels like it’s burning. My lips hurt. Is this even food? Isn’t it a weapon for poisoning?”

“You’re being too dramatic, August.”

She thought she’d been nervous for no reason, but suddenly, her vision blurred. What… What was this? Her breathing quickened, and she felt a fever rising.

Her hands and feet trembled, and sweat dripped down.

What on earth was this? Could it be… Did Kaiton put some curse on Muriel? Was that why he’d been looking at her with such intensity?

Startled, she turned around and saw that Kaiton was still looking at her. He had a twisted expression on his face, as if it was unpleasant just to look at Muriel.

‘That person is really…!’

If she couldn’t escape from her opponent, she had to confront them. She had endured enough. Muriel was about to go argue with Kaiton when August’s voice caught her.

“Muriel’s lips…”

“Do your fan service alone.”

“No, it’s not that… Muriel’s lips are actually…”

Curious about what he meant, she reached out and touched her lips, and felt two plump pieces of flesh.

“Are these my lips?”

Her pronunciation was muffled, and when she pressed them with her hand, she realized how swollen they were. She never thought of this. She almost poisoned herself in her ignorance.

Kaiton approached Muriel with a plain plate of food in his hands.

“Mealtime is quite noisy, isn’t it?”

Despite Kaiton’s obvious grumbling, August acted familiar and asked him if he had eaten well. After the last incident, he probably didn’t have good feelings towards Kaiton, but he never showed it. He thoroughly separated his own emotions and cooperated naturally for a common goal.

On the other hand, whenever Kaiton looked at August, his lips twisted and his expression became hardened. In some ways, August always seemed lively and expressive, but cold, while Kaiten was always expressionless but often moved according to his emotions.

“Did you eat all that?”

On Kaiton’s plate, there was leftover green soup. Was he on checkup duty throughout the meal? Whether everyone finished the spicy soup or not?

“I didh. Why dhu you chare?”

(I did. Why do you care?)

She wanted to respond coolly. She really did. But because of her swollen lips, she ended up sounding like a duck.

Kaiton left, frowning as if there was nothing left to see. What was this sense of defeat she felt?

“I didn’t know Muriel liked spicy food this much. Next time, I’ll invite you to our mansion and treat you to spicy dishes from the north.”

“That &%^&#!”

“Pardon…? What did you just say?”

Clueless August stuck to the irritated Muriel and ended up being caught in her line of fire. Realizing that no matter what she said, it would only sound ridiculous with her duck-like lips, Muriel walked past August.

When August became flustered, she glared at him with a brazen face, saying, “Now what?!” Fortunately, August had some sense left and grabbed Muriel, allowing her to lean her swaying weight onto him as they left the dining hall, and didn’t utter nonsense like,

“Why? Are you embarrassed? Even though you might be like a duck, it’s okay, right? Isn’t it cute?”

If he had, Muriel would have felt tempted by the idea of world destruction, so it was a fortunate thing.

Lmao Muriel is a piece of work and this is why I like her

Poor august lmao, Muriel hiding her cup afraid of him sipping her water is so sibling energy and so mean of her but I couldn’t help but laugh

August seems like a sweetheart honestly

But this is also why not feeling pain is dangerous. It tells our body when to stop, and without those receptors, normal situations can become dangerous quickly. It brings more damage than good.

You’re right on that, Ami. During my teenage phase I assumed that having no senses is a good thing but when I experienced a similar sensation where my sense of touch grew numb it was devastating. On another note I’d be wreaking havock if I can’t taste food so I now understand why Muriel is such a mess.

I’m so sorry you had to go through that! hopefully you’re doing better now? and righttt? to not be able to taste food would leave me depressed.
