Chapter 49:
I looked around slightly.
I was relieved for a moment when Leon was not seen.
‘Why are you so relieved?’
It’s not enough to be disappointed. In fact, I seem to have become timid inside because I did not receive an answer to the letter.
“The atmosphere is really noisy.”
“Oh, that, that.”
The Commander looked at me and Delther and bit his lips anxiously.
“It’s strange to see you looking anxious. Is something wrong?”
At Delther’s words, the leader ‘hik’ and flagged.
“No, there’s not!”
I felt sorry for all of them when they were closely disciplined.
“I think the war is over.”
Janice said, wriggling her hands.
At her words, Delther and I opened our eyes at the same time.
‘War could end so easily?’
I don’t think all of Leon’s powers were released yet.
It was strange.
‘I can’t see Leon.’
Well, he doesn’t even recognize me anyway. But I wanted to make sure he was okay.
“Well, who are you looking for?”
“No! Who am I going to see?”
I waved my hand in a hurry.
I even take off the ribbon to see if Leon recognizes me.
Being embarrassed for no reason, I smoothed my empty wrist and laughed.
“But the war is really over? What happened?”
Delther asked Princess Janice as if urging her.
Hey, take it easy.
Is Janice guilty of something? If you ask like that, she’ll be scared, so I’ll try to find the answer.
I shook my head and took Princess Janice’s hand.
“You had a hard time in the war, right? I’m glad it’s over. But can you tell me what happened?”
No matter how hard I tried, there was no answer.
I mean, someone put an end to the war. The strongest man in the world I know was Leon.
“I don’t know. When I woke up, the soldiers said that all the enemies were wiped out.”
“It’s wiped out overnight…….”
“In fact, traces of Mana have been found. They say it’s a huge amount.”
The Commander sighed and told the truth.
Mana? That means magic was used.
My head flashed around.
‘This must have been done by Leon.’
That’s what my sense was saying. For some reason, Leon’s power seemed to appear faster than expected.
I quickly searched for Leon among many soldiers and knights.
“Huh…”
For a moment, my eyes stopped as if I was embarrassed by the red eyes I faced.
‘Red eyes.’
That’s all Leon has. Why is he staring at me like he recognizes me?
It was me who looked around for Leon, but it felt strange to find him.
“Is there a problem?”
Delther asked me, with a blank look on his face.
There are so many problems.
Leon shouldn’t find me even if I find him.
Because that was the setting.
Leon was not to recognize anyone other than Janice.
“Oh, there’s a best-rated wizard in my camp.”
“No, I don’t think you have to call him. Shall we go to the barracks?”
I dissuaded the leader with an awkward smile.
It’s the first time I’ve seen you without even saying hello, so I’m embarrassed!
However, Delther, seeing such a figure, raised his lips as if he had found anything interesting.
“Well, let’s call him to the barracks and listen to him.”
“Would you please leave me out?”
“Why? You haven’t seen him in a long time.”
So why are you stepping out when I’m meeting him?
“Yes, Lady Elle. It must have been a while since you saw him, so at least say hello.”
Janice smiled broadly and turned her head towards Leon.
‘You must have gotten really close.’
My heart ached when I saw that the relationship between the two had actually developed.
“I can’t. He has nothing to do with me since he left the family.”
Spitting out words that I didn’t mean, I was letting Leon out of my mind.
“Leon has always missed you. Don’t say that.”
“He missed me?”
“Yes, he always had letters in his heart, and he always wore bracelets.”
Janice bit her lips as if she were holding back something.
I couldn’t ask for more of that look.
Somehow, I felt like I was hurting her.
* * *
There was an awkward silence around the four people gathered at the barracks.
After a long time, Leon didn’t look very good, as if he was quite tired.
‘Why are you so haggard? But you’re still handsome.’
I hated myself for saying this in this situation, but I have to admit it.
He is always handsome.
Leon has been looking at me without saying a word since earlier.
‘You would have recognized me only after you heard my name.’
He wouldn’t know if they didn’t say my name.
So the feeling of recognizing me earlier must have been an illusion.
I didn’t know what to say, so I tried to ignore the gaze and looked at Janice.
“Then are we all going back to the Empire now? We’re here for no reason.”
“Anyway, you were supposed to follow me.”
“Why?”
“There should be one or two suspicious things these days. All of a sudden, you had a date when you never did.”
Tsk. It’s nice to feel useless. Why are you talking about that again!
I swear to myself.
Yes, there was nothing I could do because that guy defended me very closely.
“Stop following me around, you’re not a stalker. We’re not even in a good relationship.”
” Well, if you stick around something, you might become attached to it.”
“Don’t say anything creepy. I can tell if someone likes me.”
“Are you crazy?”
“That’s what I want to say.”
I looked at Delther with a look on my face.
I’m sorry, but you’re not my type. I grew up watching Leon. Don’t you see him?
“Ha… Are you fearless? I wonder if you have no brain?”
“I say both. My brain works selectively.”
There’s no brain energy to use on you. You little imp!
Janice spoke softly to Delther as we quarreled and growled at each other.
“But Lady Elle. Why didn’t you send a letter?”
“Why didn’t I send a letter?”
What?
I opened my mouth in bewilderment.
How many letters I’ve sent!
By the way, why is Janice asking that, not Leon.
“Leon, I want to ask. Why didn’t you answer the letter?”
“Because the letter didn’t come. It sounds like you’ve been pretty busy.”
Leon replied to me with a shady attitude.
It’s obvious that he’s being sarcastic, but why did he get angry?
“How many letters have I sent? I thought you were trying to cut me off because you didn’t answer.”
“Why did you think I would cut you off Elle?”
“It’s….”
Come to think of it, I pushed Leon away from my side every time.
But I felt wronged.
How many letters have I sent to Leon about Edgar.
“You really didn’t get a single letter?”
“You don’t have to try to lie. I think you forgot me because you were on a date.”
“What a lie! I’ve been looking for you so desperately! A date? That’s!”
I can’t say it here.
Maybe you can wake Edgar up. I held onto hope.
Some of them were reluctant to follow Delther, wondering if he was dead.
“Did you look for me?”
“Yes!”
“You’re anxious about this, too?”
“Uh, well, yes.”
I eased my excitement and cleared my throat.
“This seems to be a more affectionate relationship than a lover.”
“Be quiet. There’s a reason for this. Don’t forget that your highness is the cause.”
“I don’t understand what you mean.”
Delther pretended to be brazen.
If Edgar had died, I would have tried to rebel at any moment.
I raised one corner of my mouth and clenched my chin.
“With such a lack of understanding, you must be worse than Princess Janice.”
“Do you really want to die?”
“Are you going to kill me now?”
Delther’s lips trembled at the words.
You’ll be stabbed for what you did. I know what you’ve done to Edgar.
“Be aware. That it is me, not your highness, who wants to kill right now.”
I whispered in his ear so that only Delther could hear.
“Lady Elle.”
Instantly, Leon stood up and called my name.
“I will hear what you wrote in your letter.”
“Ri, right now?”
“There are things that need to be explained.”
Leon nodded and left the barracks.
“Go out. I have something to talk to Janice anyway.”
I glanced at Janice at Delther’s words.
Her anxious eyes were shaking.
“Don’t do anything”
“What?”
“You’re good at doing nothing.”
“Ha!”
“If anything happens, Princess Janice, please shout out.”
Janice nodded slightly at my words.
He must’ve bullied her a lot.
I didn’t take my eyes off Delther even while I was out of the barracks.
‘Just do it anyway.’
A smirk leaked out of Delther’s mouth at the tenacious gaze that seemed to come out of my eyes.
