Chapter 119:
“I guess you’re better now.”
Edgar smiled at my fading cry.
“Yes, I’m fine.”
My voice was weak, but my face seemed relaxed.
“I’m going to leave.”
Edgar looked at Leon who was far away from me then said.
It wasn’t until he left the room that Leon approached me.
“Are you surprised?”
“…Of course I am.”
How did the pattern disappear?
We tried so hard, but it didn’t disappear. I can’t believe Janice, and Leon’s patterns disappeared and no one was hurt. I didn’t understand.
“It seems to have loosened as the power of the curse was stopped.”
“That doesn’t make the pattern disappear.”
“That’s right. But I did something I hadn’t done before.”
“…What?”
I tilted my head at Leon’s words.
What have you not done?
His hand gently stroked my cheek and hugged me.
“My heart may have worked. An engraving that I hoped would be engraved like a pattern.”
“…What?”
Only then did I hurriedly check my neck. It was clear and not faded.
“But something’s a little strange.”
Why does the mark that should be red look like a different color?
Leon looked at me and unfastened the buttons on his shirt one by one.
“Leon?”
With Leon’s body slowly revealing, he grabbed my hand and brought it to his neck.
“Here, don’t you see something familiar?”
As he said, there was a golden pattern in the same place.
“Oh…?”
What’s going on here?
Did Janice lose Leon’s pattern by choosing Delther?
But it didn’t seem like it would be solved just by making a choice.
“When did it start?”
Leon said, holding me in his arms.
“The pattern disappeared this morning.”
“… This morning?”
That means it’s already gone before going to the royal palace.
“Well, the pattern on my neck…”
“It’s similar, too.”
“It’s ridiculous.”
It was possible.
“It makes sense if the curse has been shattered and we have accepted a stronger fate.”
As Leon said, the patterns represent each other’s strong attraction. It was fate.
If other strong attractions were accepted, it was not strange that a new pattern was created with a slim possibility.
I still couldn’t take my eyes off the ridiculous miracle.
“I can’t believe this.”
“That’s what happened when my curse was lifted.”
Leon smiled.
“Elle, you’re my companion now.”
What I longed for finally happened.
It was something I thought would never happen. A warm feeling surged in my chest.
“I told you.”
Slowly, with his languidly falling eyelids, his face drew closer.
“You won’t be able to get away from me.”
Yes, Leon always said that.
I always had a hunch that it would be like a lie.
And I kept smiling at the current situation as he said.
“You were my only companion. From the beginning to the end.”
Along with my closed eyes, I could feel Leon’s breath and sweet touch.
He dug in gently and swam through my mouth as if to confirm.
I climbed on top of Leon’s body with a feeling of exhilaration slowly rising.
I put my hand around his neck and let him breathe.
“Lee, on…”
Ha-a, my breathing was getting a little rough. Any further conversation was pointless.
We already knew what each other was trying to say.
I could feel it just by looking at the eyes.
Leon and I needed each other now. Deeper, closer.
There was only a desire to express everything that could not be expressed in words.
My dear Leon. My only companion.
From start to finish, he eventually stayed with me.
Srug.
My hair stood at the touch of the skin as it brushed my wrist.
He touched me softly and slowly as if he would not let go of everything.
“Elle, now… finally.”
I became yours.
He whispered in my ear in a small voice.
I felt a tingling sensation in every single word, and my strength went.
“Haa…”
With exhilarating breaths, Leon and I gradually became entangled with each other.
As there were no further disturbances.
* * *
“Did you wake up?”
“Ummm… Leon.”
I hugged him tight. It feels really good to wake up with a feeling of warm body temperature.
Leon quietly kissed my forehead and cheek.
“We have to get up.”
“Can we sleep a little longer?”
“If you do, the count will be angry.”
“Ah!”
Only then did I wake up.
“What about my father?”
“He’s gone to the Imperial Palace. We have to go, too.”
“I see…”
The emperor’s disposition remained. Everything he had done was known to the public.
The wrongful death of my mother, Selene Delicia, and the tragedy of Defeloa.
Janice’s reputation was immediately changed.
Above all, it seemed that her romance with Delther touched people’s hearts.
I don’t know if Janice gave his heart to Delther.
However, she was right to choose him.
Because of that, I was able to be with Leon.
“I’ll help you.”
Leon helped me prepare.
He kissed the back of my neck several times pretending to tighten the corset strap.
“Oh… Leon!”
When I hurriedly pushed him away, he smacked his lips as if he was disappointed.
“I’m sorry.”
He looked like a leashed beast.
This is a problem.
Even so, the corners of my mouth showed no sign of going down.
“I’m going to be late at this rate.”
Leon breathed out slowly with his nose stuck in my flesh. In the end, it was me who won.
It was hard to appease him, but it wasn’t over yet.
* * *
I arrived in front of the royal palace with Leon.
I didn’t even need a carriage.
I stared at the Royal Palace blankly.
“…It’s quieter than I thought.”
“It’s because it’s not decided yet. I’m sure everyone has a lot of worries.”
He had done so many things that there was no one to judge.
The ruthless oppression of others in the name of the emperor surfaced.
“More than anything, the Velois family is also involved.”
“Yes. I hope my mother will be happy.”
“She will.”
Leon and I went inside holding hands.
In the imperial court, the people were seen along with the nobles.
“There’s my father.”
He must have attended the event as a witness. It was also the last chance to resolve the unfair event that happened to our family.
“Emperor Terbion savagely trampled on human rights on my wife’s older sister, Defeloa Delicia.”
The emperor laughed at Edgar’s words.
“I loved Defeloa. She loved me, too.”
The Emperor, still avoiding, did not bow his head. Rather, he shouted confidently.
“There should be no forgiveness or mercy. If you let this go on in honor of the Velois family, we will fight to the end.”
Edgar was adamant.
How much I’ve been looking forward to this day.
I nodded at my father’s words.
“The emperor’s sins cannot be washed away. It is judged that this cannot be tolerated, even for the innocent sacrifices of others.”
Janice looked straight at Terbion.
“Do you mean you’re going to point a sword at your father?”
Terbion still didn’t hold back his smile. He was firm despite the contemptuous gaze of many towards him.
“Son! I’ve prepared all this for you!”
Delther turned his head to the words.
“I’ll decide.”
The royal judge saw Terbion, the sinner, based on everyone’s testimony.
Public opinion has already turned against the emperor.
I stared at the judge’s mouth with a trembling heart.
Sweat dripped from my hands that were holding Leon.
“The sins of Emperor Terbion are difficult to forgive. He is executed by unanimous consent of all.”
If it ended in exile, I was going to go and kill him myself.
If it wasn’t me, there would have been many people who would have killed him.
“In addition, Empress Arbea Rond, who has so far tolerated the sinner Terbion Bonita, is sentenced to exile in the north.”
The empress, who remained still at the judge’s words, jumped up from her seat.
“This is ridiculous! I’m just a victim!”
Her sharp voice rang through the courtroom.
But there were no sympathizers.
Not forgetting who was crueler than anyone else by the emperor’s side.
“Delther, my son. Are you going to let this mother go like this!”
Delther did not respond to the Empress’s cry.
In place of the deposed emperor, Delther stared at his parents with an expressionless face.
“All trials are over, so escort the sinners.”
The guards moved at the voice.
I watched their exit till the end.
The emperor was going to drink poison in a solitary cell instead of in front of everyone.
That would be Delther’s last consideration for his father.
There was no regret left in the space where everything was finished.
Only condolences remain for those who went first.
Janice smiled softly as she watched the emperor and the empress being dragged away.
Finally, she and I were set free.
from a destined fate, and from everything that oppresses.
Leon wrapped his arms around my shoulders and looked at me.
As our eyes met, a smile spread in relief.
It was over. There was no longer the fear of death.
All I have to do is enjoy my life and move on.
Good thing they (author included) admit it’s ridiculous 😅 I dreamed with the possibility of them developing the same pattern since the beginning of the story, but it still sounds ridiculous to that happen after all the trouble and rarity of it all. Oh well, anyway! I like that ending overall 😌👏🏻
