Chapter 11
Typically, information guilds have repositories where information is stored.
In these repositories, information collected by the guild over many years was stored in written form. So, it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that the repository was the very core of the information guild itself.
And the repository in Riverrica was hidden on the third underground floor. I decided to make good use of this information since I learned it through a novel.
“Hmm, this is unexpected….”
The man with his head bowed muttered earnestly. Somehow, there seemed to be a hint of amusement in his voice.
‘Why is he so relaxed?’
If the information repository were to explode, even the Reverrica Guild would undoubtedly suffer immense damage.
However, the man’s demeanor was too calm, which made me uneasy. I continued to watch him without lowering my guard.
Thud.
Intermittently, the sound of something bursting could be heard.
And not long after, the golden strands that restrained the man were all severed at once.
“What? No way! This is unbelievable!”
The golden strands, now devoid of light, fell to the ground with a thud.
I was momentarily shocked to the point where my spine tingled with cold.
It was truly unbelievable. The golden strands created by the earth’s power were something that could never be severed by physical force alone.
So, to destroy those strands, the only methods would be to burn them all or magically make them disappear.
And yet, they were severed like that…?
“What? How did you do that? These golden strands cannot be severed unless under my command….”
Could this man possibly be a skilled mage?
At my perplexed question, the man chuckled softly.
“Youngae , there’s nothing absolute in this world.”
“What?”
“There are only relative things. But don’t worry. I have no intention of harming Youngae.”
The man, brushing off his jacket, walked calmly towards me.
‘…What’s going on? Who is this person really?’
I didn’t know what, but it was certain that he was an incredibly skilled individual. Perhaps he could even kill me here.
‘Ah, damn it. I shouldn’t have meddled….’
Now, regret flooded in anew.
If I were to die here, I would begin my fifth life.
Furthermore, you’ll probably see that X-like system window saying, ‘Restarting due to an unfinished quest. You are Ariadne Veloa, 18 years old.’
“No matter what it takes, I tried to finish everything in this chapter…”
The thought of repeating the regression again made my head ache as if it were about to explode.
I vowed to myself that I would never get involved with this guild again in the next chapter, biting my lips tightly.
“Youngae, aren’t you too nervous? I won’t harm you.”
Suddenly, a man approached me Up close, he was tall and well-built. X feet tall. I completely lost my will to fight.
He looked at my resigned expression and lifted one corner of his mouth…
“Let’s make a deal with Youngae. You’re quite interesting.”
“…”
“Well, eventually, you’ll find out how Yeongae knew about this place.”
He extended a hand towards me, in other words, he was asking for a handshake.
“…”
Since he was wearing a mask, it was hard to notice the man’s expression. I could barely see half of his face.
‘I don’t know what this bastard is thinking, but I have to catch him.’
But I could easily recognize that this was an opportunity.
His offer to make a deal meant, at least until the deal was over, he wouldn’t kill me.
“Okay. Nice to meet you. Guild Master.”
I pretended to be calm as I shook the man’s hand.
And so, the deal with the mysterious Guild Master began.
To cut to the chase, I successfully concluded a deal with the Guild Master of Riverrica.
I asked him for two pieces of information.
The first was about my fiancé, Jeffrey Douglas.
To get Jeffrey to be obsessed with me, I needed to sort out his affairs to some extent.
“Check out the people Jeffrey Douglas is fooling around with. Every single one of them, without exception.”
The Guild Master of Riverrica smirked playfully at my words.
“Wow, quite ruthless, aren’t you? Planning some revenge?”
“No.”
Why would I do such a useless thing?
I shook my head firmly.
“I have no intention of bothering them. I don’t have the time for that.”
“Is that so? Too bad. If it’s Yeong-ae’s revenge, I’m willing to help.”
“Thank you, but I’ll pass. Instead, please handle my request properly.”
For some reason, I felt like if that man got involved, things that could have ended easily would become irreversible.
He seemed skilled, but I didn’t trust him. He seemed like the type to suddenly go off the rails.
‘It’s best to be careful with people like this.’
Getting involved with these types of people personally always leads to trouble.
So I decided to keep a reasonable distance from the guild master.
“Hmm… Well, if that’s what Youngae wants.”
The guild master grumbled and took out a communication magic tool from his pocket.
And before long, a man presumed to be a member of the Riverrica guild entered the room.
He was holding a thick folder.
“Master, I’ve brought the items you requested.”
“Yeah. Good job.”
The guild master promptly handed me the documents he received from the man.
Glancing through the contents, it was a list of Jeffrey’s extramarital affairs neatly organized.
His infidelity was quite remarkable, as evidenced by the dozens of pages of documents.
It not only contained the names of his extramarital partners but also included brief personal information and descriptions of their families.
“Oh… So you had this sorted out in advance.”
It was fascinating how he provided me with the necessary information as if he had been waiting for it.
Indeed, there was a reason why the main character always came here, dedicating himself to this place.
I smiled satisfactorily and proceeded with the next request.
“Guild master, there’s one more thing I’d like to request from you.”
“What is it?”
“Do you happen to do people-finding jobs? Probably someone of commoner status, living in the north, and I only know the name…?”
“Hmm…”
The guild master, seeming to ponder for a moment, slowly nodded his head.
“It’s a bit bothersome, but I’ll find them. After all, it’s a request from the esteemed Youngae of Beloar.”
“Yeah. I’m really grateful for that…”
It was somewhat uncomfortable, but it was indeed appreciative.
Finding someone with such limited information would be impossible without the Riverrica Guild.
In fact, it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that I visited the Riverrica Guild specifically to find that person.
To truly pursue the main characters, it was essential to strengthen my forces through that person.
Because he was…
“The damn guard XX who put the third version of me in prison!”
That’s right. He was that guy.
The damn guy who mercilessly threw me into prison when I went to Callisto Duchy to rescue the kidnapped Julieta.
I even remembered his name. Gilbert Sonier.
He defeated me with just one sword, inheriting the land ability of the Beloer Duchy.
Of course, my negligence played a part, but nonetheless, it was an undeniable fact that he was a formidable skillful person.
However, why would such a skilled individual be working as just a guard for Duke Calisto?
Perhaps he was hiding his abilities for some reason, or the Duke failed to recognize his true potential.
“Well, then I must bring him to me. Such talent cannot be left in the service of Duke Callisto.”
Through my own investigation, I discovered that Gilbert had not yet become one of Duke Calisto’s guards.
When I discreetly checked the list of guards in the north, his name was nowhere to be found.
“In that case, I should make the first move and bring Gilbert to our house. It’s a simple matter.”
Given his skills, he would be perfect as a guard for me or Julieta.
Right now, I needed a very strong guard who could withstand the attacks of three obsessed suitors.
With that in mind, I informed the guild master of all the information I had about Gilbert.
Although all I knew was his name, gender, rough appearance, and the assumption that he lived in the north, it should be enough for him to track down.
So, I told the guild master about all the tasks I wanted to entrust to him.
Now, only the payment remained.
“Would you prefer cash, gold, or jewels? Tell me what you desire. I’ll try to accommodate.”
Upon hearing this, the guild master, who had been rubbing his chin, replied with an intrigued look in his eyes.
“If what I desire isn’t material? Would you still accommodate?”
“Well, as long as it’s not something vague…”
“Hmm, I see…”
Suddenly, the guild master’s eyes narrowed. He began to scrutinize me with a gaze that felt like that of a predator eyeing its prey, giving me an unsettling feeling. Furthermore, I had a strange sensation as if my skin was tingling.
I quietly sighed.
“Why is he trying to dissect me like this…?”
Well, I had plenty to spare, so even if I got ripped off a bit, it wouldn’t show.
Still, I felt a bit nervous with him coming at me like that.
I fidgeted with a teacup, waiting for the guild master to speak.
And finally, after a long silence, the guild master opened his mouth.
“Would you do me the honor, Veloa, of accompanying me to an event? It’s a soirée a month from now in the evening. Would that be possible?”
