Episode 2
Finally, she admitted it to herself—how she had acted nonchalant in the face of death, and how much she truly wanted to live like this.
Even if she couldn’t become a formidable master in the renowned martial world, she wanted to frolic around in good health.
Stars flickered in Ryeon’s eyes, reflecting her newfound determination.
“I will eliminate everything that hinders my long and healthy life!”
It felt unjust that she had possessed this power in the past and had deteriorated without realizing her true identity. However, Ryeon quickly shook her head, clearing away those thoughts.
“No. I’ve come back like this! Let’s think positively.”
Although she hadn’t fully regained her health, she was already under the warning to manage her Spiritual Energy within two months. Nevertheless, she believed that somehow, she could make it work.
Thinking positively, Ryeon reached for the fan placed near her head.
“Yes, let’s use Spiritual Energy first to quickly reduce the reserves.”
She intended to use her ability ‘Purification.’ As the wind gently blew, a refreshing sensation filled the air, accompanied by the illusion of the sound of wind rustling through a landscape.
Immediately, her Spiritual Energy value dropped.
“Wow!”
**Health: 4(1▲) / 100**
**Spiritual Energy: 75(1▼) / 100**
A small change, but a change nonetheless.
‘I should purify the air everywhere I go. Should I change my job to a walking air purifier?’
Ryeon couldn’t contain her excitement at the thought, and with a grin, she began fanning the air, purifying it in every nook and cranny of the room.
After making a full circle around her spacious residence, she suddenly felt a bit dizzy.
“What… what?”
**Health: 1(3▼) / 100**
**Spiritual Energy: 79(4▲) / 100**
**Caution: Do not concentrate Spiritual Energy too much…**
“What is this…”
Ryeon stared at the fan with a bewildered expression. The Spiritual Energy value had increased significantly, as if it had been injected directly, appearing vibrant and expanding rapidly.
Seated on the bed, Ryeon looked disheartened, surrounded by air filled with the Spiritual Energy she had scattered. The purified air, now cleaner than the air on a mountain peak, was slowly returning to her.
***
**Purification: 2nd level (1▲)**
**Health: 4 / 100**
**Spiritual Energy: 68 / 100**
Ryeon glared at the mirror.
**Caution: Make an effort to maintain Spiritual Energy below 50.**
The writing on the mirror seemed to mock her. She could implement this indicator anywhere she could read text – on the white surface of the fan, on the wide hem of her sleeves, on the bed’s sunshade, on the mirror, or even on the surface of the water in a cup.
When she regained consciousness, it was just before the onset of frost, and she had been in nursing care for several months until she turned eight, surpassing her birthday in February. During this time, her destiny had fluctuated.
Two months left, one and a half months left, again two months left…
“But seriously, how am I supposed to use Spiritual Energy beyond this point?”
Using Purification was not as simple as it sounded.
Although she vigorously purified her surroundings, the problem lay in the effects of purification. By the time winter arrived, the tree outside Ryeon’s window refused to shed a single leaf, staying vividly green, attracting attention from passersby.
As a result, Ryeon had to stop practicing purification near the window.
“Miss Ryeon’s residence remains unaffected, with flowers and trees in full bloom. It’s clear that Freshness temporarily took Miss Ryeon away and returned her,” was a baseless rumor that had to be silenced before it spread any further…
Moreover, the purified confined space had the effect of amplifying Spiritual Energy, which was harmful to Ryeon’s body.
But she couldn’t just refrain from using her powers! What should she do about this?
“Maybe I should learn some basic medicine and pretend to be a skillful doctor?”
“Ryeon! Ryeon, your mother has come!”
As Ryeon pondered over her dilemmas, the door creaked open, revealing the person she had been anxiously waiting for. Wiji Cheong, her mother, entered the room.
With delicate strokes as if drawn by a skilled artist, Wiji Cheong’s facial features were neatly and beautifully depicted. She was Ryeon’s mother, a woman radiating grace and beauty.
In that moment, the writing on the mirror changed rapidly.
**Wiji Cheong**
**Characteristics: Compassionate / Heir / Devoted / Wise**
**Volcanic Swordsmanship: Basic**
**Falling Star Twelve Swords: 2nd level**
**Innate Qualities and Five Elements: 3rd level (opened)**
**Concerns: Ryeon’s health, Ryeon’s happiness, Ryeon’s future**
**Advice: It’s essential to alleviate unnecessary guilt!**
The information about others was quite different from personal information. Although some achievements in martial arts were visible, other aspects remained hidden. Only innate qualities and five elements seemed to be revealed with higher achievement in the Spiritual Eye.
The “Concerns” section caught Ryeon’s attention. It probably reflected the person’s most recent worries.
“Health, happiness, and future for me…”
Wiji Cheong, like the nurse, always smiled broadly when looking at Ryeon, as if this world had nothing but good things. But could it really be so? There was no way to share worries and concerns with her young daughter.
“Mother… I’ll make sure to lessen your worries.”
Living a long, healthy life was her dream and hope. Even though it was something unattainable in the future she experienced, dying at the age of twenty-something.
Pushed around by the chaos in the martial world caused by the Blood Valley gang, she had moved around and ended up meeting a sad end without being able to control her Spiritual Energy.
Wiji Cheong never gave up on her daughter, who had been unresponsive for the past seven years.
In the future that Ryeon had experienced, Wiji Cheong, her mother, wept with tears and dried up in sorrow after her daughter barely crossed the age of twenty.
Ryeon made an effort to shake off thoughts of the past. After all, it was a future that might never come to pass. Right now, she could see and do so much more.
“Our daughter! Did you enjoy the Bingdangho?”
Wiji Cheong embraced Ryeon, who sparkled like dewdrops. At the same time, the characters on the mirror dispersed. Ryeon hugged her mother tightly.
“Mother! You’re here? This is a treat made by the Alchemy Master. It’s sweet and delicious.”
Wiji Cheong listened to Ryeon’s bright voice like the sound of droplets, then smiled even more radiantly.
Observing her expression, Ryeon took out a fruit from the Bingdangho she was eating and fed it to Wiji Cheong.
Although she had struggled to speak initially, as if her mouth was unfamiliar with words, with the help of the Harmony power from her abilities, she soon spoke fluently. The adults of the three clans were surprised to witness this, but in the face of the miracle of a child waking up, these minor miracles were mere fragments of joy.
“This is really delicious. Despite Master Penguan breaking his training to come and check on you, you still manage to receive such thoughtful attention….”
Wiji Cheong, smiling, spoke to Ryeon while instructing the servant she had brought.
“Come, Ryeon. Did you see what your mother brought?”
The servant carefully placed what he had brought in front of Ryeon.
Amid thick branches, there were small flowers resembling grains of rice, emitting a white light. The sweet fragrance that had been present since earlier came from these flowers.
“I picked these to decorate your room.”
Ryeon looked bewilderedly at the cluster of flowers. Wiji Cheong smiled warmly as she arranged the flower branches in a white porcelain vase.
“These are Jasmine flowers. They will give a pleasant scent and add charm to your room.”
Wiji Cheong chose a small flower from them and adorned it near Ryeon’s ear. Then, she closed her eyes and smiled gently.
“You can’t tell where the flowers end and where the person begins. Isn’t that so, Ms. Jang?”
“That’s true.”
Nurse Jang also agreed from the side.
Ryeon couldn’t stand silently while listening to such words, even if she was supposed to be an eight-year-old. Her face turned red, and Wiji Cheong, noticing this, smiled warmly.
“Our Ryeon is blushing so much. That’s why young girls are so charming.”
Ryeon, feeling embarrassed, covered her face with a quilt. Despite this, she couldn’t remove the flower Wiji Cheong had placed near her ear. Wiji Cheong brushed Ryeon’s cheek and laughed.
“It seems that new shoots have sprouted in the garden, which had been withering. I was so surprised to see leaves growing again on the Golden Oak tree that I thought had died. Everything seems to be celebrating your awakening, Ryeon.”
Perhaps it was due to her own spiritual energy, but Ryeon remained silent, leaning her cheek against her mother’s hand.
“If Seongnang had seen this sight, how delighted he would have been…”
“Madam…”
Wiji Cheong turned her head as if her fingertips were trembling.
Observing the trembling shoulders of Wiji Cheong, Ryeon remembered something she hadn’t considered before.
Her father, Danmok Hyeonseong, left the world five years ago, not long after the birth of her younger brother, Danmokbi.
Wiji Cheong had perhaps deemed it too early to explain such things to Ryeon. She wiped away the wet cheeks, smiled, and continued to speak.
“I heard that today we’re going to express our gratitude to Grandfather?”
Ryeon nodded her head.
“Grandfather helped make the medicine to make you better, Ryeon.”
Wiji Cheong carefully removed Ryeon’s nurse and untied her daughter’s clothes. It was still early spring, and the air was chilly.
“Grandfather gave us ‘Eternal Supreme Blood Treasure’ to put in Ryeon’s insect repellent medicine. Originally, it was supposed to be used in Grandfather’s medicine, but he graciously gave it for Ryeon’s sake.”
Wiji Cheong explained in a gentle tone, helping Ryeon put on her clothes. It was still chilly in early spring.
“He gave us the ‘Eternal Supreme Blood Treasure’ for Ryeon’s insect repellent medicine. Originally, it was supposed to be used in Grandfather’s medicine, but he graciously gave it for Ryeon’s sake.”
Ryeon opened her eyes wide.
