The Stronger Their Opposition, the More I Know I Made the Right Choice

CH. 6 A WIN-WIN SITUATION

Three days later, in the border city.

Dusk, raining lightly.

The wind tinted the sunset’s afterglow, and the border city’s dusk tone was filled with a unique laziness. Thin water lines dripped down along the eaves of the city-state. Autumn was nearing its end, winter was gradually coming, and the streets of the small city were sparsely populated. The vendors had also packed up and returned home early.

Arlen held an umbrella and walked on the lonely city path, heading towards the Holy Light Cathedral.

He had received the news at noon that his recommendation to join the church had been approved.

He was now going to the cathedral to register and receive the holy seal, and he would be able to become a preparatory saint.

Arlen had been a speedrun anchor for 17 weeks in his past life. He always tried to beat his own best time and find the optimal strategy and technique.

In the 16th week, he created the life sacrifice school, which achieved the world record for the quickest ascension to god.

By constantly absorbing the poor and wicked people into the church, making them work non-stop for 24 hours, to stimulate their dark emotions, he had cultivated the dark elements of the believers in a pig-style manner, raising them to the fourth stage and then slaughtering them all to sacrifice to the goddess and harvest skill points.

But Arlen had always felt that his Church still had room for improvement and progress.

It was not extreme enough.

And in the 17th round, Arlen had finally researched the simplest and most powerful start. Unfortunately, he had only played halfway through and died suddenly and crossed over.

Joining the Holy Light Church was the first step in his school’s formation.

The Holy Light Cathedral was in the center of the border city.

The setting sun dyed the rain orange, and the cathedral stood in the orange rain, glorious and sacred.

“Name.”

The old priest in charge of registration at the door yawned. He looked like he was going to get off work and go home, so his tone was slightly impatient, and he didn’t lift his head to Arlen.

“Arlen Morningstar.”

“Arlen Morningstar.” He said as he wrote down An Su’s name, then raised his head. “Are you recommended by Miss Loka? The one from the Morningstar family?”

“That’s right.” Arlen squinted his eyes.

“Hmph.” The old priest snorted lightly, and said in a low voice. “Now anyone can become a preparatory saint.”

He had heard of the child of the Morningstar family, who had very little light elements in his body, and had killed his own mother when he was born.

It had caused a stir in the city at that time.

But ironically, years later, this cursed child was able to become a preparatory saint of the Holy Light Church, and even got the recommendation of the preparatory saintess.

Most likely it was the power of money.

Otherwise, how could the preparatory saintess look at him, this cursed child?

And what about himself?

He had been watching the door for the church for most of his life, but he had never received a recommendation, and he was still just an outsider, receiving a monthly salary of one gold coin.

“Your holy seal is not done yet.” The old priest didn’t lift his head. “We’re closed, come back tomorrow.”

“Can’t you make an exception?” Arlen said calmly.

He remembered that it was not time to close yet.

“Closed means closed.” The priest lowered his head to sort out the materials, and didn’t look at Arlen again. “Even if you are a noble, you have no privileges.”

He believed in the Light Goddess, and hated these spoiled sons the most.

The old priest was not afraid of Arlen’s future retaliation. This preparatory saint was only a temporary status. If he failed the saint test three times, he would lose his preparatory status.

How could this spoiled son possibly pass the test?

The entrance exam to the church couldn’t be bribed with money.

The priest felt that he was stopping Arlen at the door to protect the sacred cathedral from the corruption of capital.

“I know what you’re thinking,” Arlen said, staring at the priest’s face. “You think I got the recommendation with money.”

“You misunderstood.” The priest answered with a fake smile. “You didn’t. But I just don’t want the money’s stench to come to the goddess’s hall.”

“No. Actually, you’re right.” Arlen also responded with a smile, cheerfully saying, “I’m rich.”

Arlen was so honest that the priest was surprised.

Who would confess so brightly and cheerfully?

But what shocked him even more was Arlen’s next move – he directly put a heavy bag of money on the counter.

Roughly estimated, there were at least sixty gold coins.

This was the front hall, and there were other people there.

Who would bribe so openly?

“This money is for you to keep for now.” Arlen asked. “Can I go in now?”

The old priest stared at the bag of gold and swallowed his saliva. The evil money’s breath had not yet corrupted the sacred church, but it was about to corrupt him, He was a loyal old believer.

Really, he had to blame this kid for bribing too openly!

“Here is your preparatory saint certificate.”

The old priest calmly put the bag of gold in his pocket, and handed a copper seal to Arlen.

“The Holy Light Church is one of the seven orthodox churches, and after becoming a preparatory saint, you will enjoy certain benefits.”

Sure enough, it was already done a long time ago, but he didn’t want to give it to him.

Arlen was not angry, and wore the holy seal on his chest.

“As a preparatory saint, as long as you make a contribution to eliminate the evil church, you can accumulate faith points in the seal, and by praying to the goddess statue, you can exchange them for low-level goddess blessings. To exchange for higher-level blessings, you must become a formal saint.”

By hunting down evil church members to accumulate faith points, and using faith points to level up, this was the traditional school of his previous life: ‘Witch Hunter Saint Flow’.

Arlen listened impatiently to the priest’s introduction of the rules he already knew.

Why couldn’t he skip it?

Would skipping the plot skip life?

“Now, go in and pray to the goddess, and activate your seal.” The old priest added. “The first time a believer prays, he may get the title of goddess blessing.”

“Of course.” He glanced at Arlen with a bit of annoyance, his lips moved, but in the end he swallowed the last half of the sentence in his stomach for the sake of money.

‘You have no chance.’ – He wanted to say that to Arlen.

Arlen took the token and crossed the front hall and entered the cathedral.

The rain outside had stopped, and the sunset was broken by the colored glass of the dome into scattered light spots, covering the statue of the Light Goddess.

There were still many believers in the cathedral. It seemed that the old priest had lied to Arlen when he said he was going to close.

Arlen was not angry, and walked straight to the front of the statue, clasped his hands together, and prayed quietly.

He could feel that the saint seal in his hand was establishing a connection with him.

“Is that big brother a preparatory saint?”

“He looks so devout. Is it his first time praying?”

“He’s so young, and his face is so handsome.”

“He’s dressed so elegantly, he must be a noble.”

“Do you think he can get the title of goddess blessing?”

“It’s very difficult. It’s rare to get a title on the first prayer. But he’s so attractive!”

The female believers below whispered, all talking about Arlen in front of the statue, especially the young and innocent girls, who blushed as they looked at Arlen’s delicate side face.

Arlen ignored these noisy voices, and focused on communicating with the goddess statue.

As the saint seal gradually activated, he heard the voice of the sacred and glorious in his ears.

Arlen’s mouth curled into a smile.

[Arlen]

[Magic Points: 3]

[Preparatory Saint]

[Current Faith Points: +15 (Eliminating 20 first-level believers of the Mother of Life Church and one third-level priest)]

[Preparatory saints can exchange for low-level blessings, or add points to their body]

Just as he expected!

He felt the joy of harvest.

The 21 evil church members he had sacrificed, in the judgment of the Holy Light Church, were faith points.

He had only sacrificed once, but he could get two rewards, one from the Mother of Life, and one from the Holy Light Church.

This was the final school that An Su had researched – the Light and Dark Priest Flow!

It was an upgrade of his 16th cycle life sacrifice flow!

By joining the Holy Light Church, becoming a saint, getting the qualification to exchange for blessings, and catching the evil church members to sacrifice to the Mother of Life, he had achieved a double win. On the one hand, the Mother of Life harvested the dark offerings, and gave Arlen the blessing of the Mother.

On the other hand, in the Holy Light Church, because Arlen had eliminated the evil secret church members, and eradicated the darkness, the Light Goddess would give him another round of goddess blessings.

Believing in the holy light ≠ Not sacrificing.

His vow to Loka was ‘never to sacrifice innocent people again’, not to never sacrifice!

Were the evil church members innocent people?

They were not.

And Arlen would not sacrifice ordinary people, how much dark elements could they have?

Of course, the darker the better!

By combining the life sacrifice flow and the witch hunter saint flow, He had created a win-win situation.

The Mother of Life won once, the Light Goddess won once, And Arlen won twice!
