The Stronger Their Opposition, the More I Know I Made the Right Choice

CH. 3 LOKA: HOW COULD I ENCOURAGE HIM

The Morningstar family, also known as the Monista family, is one of the newly rising and richest families in the borderlands.

In the courtyard of the Morningstar mansion, Loka waited quietly. She lowered her head slightly, counting the fallen leaves on the ground. A hint of confusion showed through her silver-white eyelids.

It had been a week since the sacrifice event, but everything seemed to have happened yesterday. The blood and the cries were still vivid in her mind.

She had parted ways with Arlen and returned to the church. According to the oath she had made, she could not report Arlen or mention any details about the Mother of Life Church. She had just said that she had gone to a friend’s house for a few days.

The days in the church were still dull, as if nothing had happened. Loka had spent a week in such anxiety.

Until today, when she finally made up her mind and came to the Morningstar family’s mansion.

If Arlen had been completely bewitched by the Mother of Life, then it should be her who guid and stop him.

This was her responsibility and duty.

The shadow of the Gothic dome fell on the ground, sharp as a sword. Rows of palm trees were planted on both sides of the courtyard. Scattered light spots flickered in the layers of leaves, and the thick green seemed to fall down.

“Ah, it’s a nun from the Holy Light Church.”

The maid at the door nodded, her face showing a surprised expression. She repeated uncertainly, “Do you really want to visit Master Arlen? Are you his friend?”

“Yes. I am Arpen’s friend.”

Loka raised her eyes and looked at the maid in front of her. “Can I?”

“Master Arlen has no friends,” the maid’s eyes flashed with a hint of disgust and fear when she mentioned his name. She looked around and lowered her voice. “You know–”

“This master is a cursed monster.”

“A cursed monster?” Loka widened her eyes slightly.

“He killed his own mother when he was born. He came to this world with his mother’s blood.”

The maid whispered, “Master Arlen has a rare dark talent, so he has been forbidden to practice magic by the Big Master until now. Don’t lie to me, you are definitely not his friend.”

“No child wants to be friends with him–let alone a nun from the Holy Light Church.”

The Holy Light Church, one of the seven orthodox churches of Abyss.

Only the most devout and noble children of the Lord can join the Holy Light Church.

No one had any expectations for the young master of the Morningstar family.

Hearing about Arlen’s life, Loka was stunned.

She had always thought that the young master was born in a privileged and pampered family, but she didn’t expect that he had such a past.

And this young master, his reputation in the family was not good.

In that case, she had to persuade Arlen to return to the right path!

Loka made up her mind in her heart.

“If you insist on visiting.” The maid bowed and said, “I will go and inform him.”

In a short while, the maid came back and bowed to Loka again. “Please come with me.”

Following the maid along the corridor, passing through the courtyard paved with green shadows of palm trees, and along a side road, continuing to go inside, Loka found that the surrounding environment gradually became quiet and decayed.

The huge palm trees disappeared, replaced by ivy climbing on the inner wall. The layers of vines and leaves blocked the sunlight. At the end of the ivy, there was a small Gothic tower.

Dark and decayed.

The door was already piled with a thick layer of fallen leaves. It seemed that few people came to visit.

“I won’t accompany you in. You can go by yourself from now on.”

The maid looked at the gray tower with a hint of disgust and said to Loka.

No one accompanied her. Loka’s mood became more and more complicated.

That day, the young man’s crazy appearance of sacrificing twenty-one secret believers was still deeply engraved in Loka’s mind.

But Arlen had saved her.

Then Loka had to help Arlen, persuade him, and not let him continue on the wrong path.

She knocked on the slightly heavy door of the gray tower–

In a moment, a cold and crisp voice came from inside.

“Please come in, Miss Loka.”

Loka pushed the door open and found that the young master was leaning against the window sill, holding a thick book in his hand. The afternoon wind passed through the gap of the ivy, gently blowing Arlen’s gray-white hair.

He was different from what he had seen that day, peaceful like the afternoon sun.

But Loka knew that this was just the boy’s appearance.

Arlen put down the book, raised his eyes and looked at Loka, looking at this future saint.

“What do you want from me?”

“About the blood sacrifice,” Loka said softly, “I didn’t mention it to the church.”

“I see.” Arlen was indifferent.

The contract sworn to the goddess was protected by the divine.

“But about the blood sacrifice.” Loka slowly exhaled. “You can’t continue like this.”

“I know, this is just your first time. It’s for self-preservation. The sacrifices are all evil bad people. You also saved my life. I won’t forget it.”

‘Actually, it’s not my first time.’ Arlen was expressionless.

‘In the game, I used the altar as a bank to brush. I brushed tens of thousands of people when I was short of money and skills.’

The Mother of Life was affectionately called the ‘bank president’ by Arlen.

She spoke earnestly, “The Evil religion is very terrible. I have seen many fallen people who, after trying the first taste, will go further and further on the wrong path. They will sacrifice more and more people, even innocent ones. You have already received the blessing of the Mother of Life, right? Once the church knows, you will be sent to the guillotine.”

Arlen listened silently. The shadow of the window sill covered his face, and his expression was invisible.

“I will pretend that I didn’t see this.”

Loka said solemnly, “I will try to cover it up from the church. Please give up the blessing of the Mother of Life Goddess and return to the life of ordinary people. The Mother of Life will not bless you. She is a very evil existence.”

To be honest, this little saint was quite nice.

She had sworn not to report, but she didn’t help cover up.

“I know, this is very cruel. You will hate me. You will think I am ungrateful.”

Loka continued, but she only said half of it before Arlen interrupted her.

“You are right.”

“I know, it’s hard for me to give up on the faith of the Mother of Life. But I will listen to you”

Loka blinked, as if doubting her ears, and repeated, “What did you say?”

“You convinced me!”

Arlen took a few steps closer, leaned close to Loka’s cheek, and his eyes were full of sincerity.

“I, Arlen, hate the evil secret believers the most in my life. They bully men and women, burn, kill, loot, and do all kinds of evil. They are the beasts among the beasts. After a week of thinking, I have completely awakened.”

‘Huh?’

‘I hadn’t said anything yet.’

Loka subconsciously clenched the prepared speech notes in her clothes, “Three Steps to Persuade Arlen to Turn Back”

This was just the first step of the baptism, to reason with him.

According to the general baptism process, Arlen should have firmly opposed and driven her out of the courtyard. Then she would have persisted for the next few days, the second step to move him with emotion. And finally, Arlen would have been moved by her spirit and reformed, the third step. The church would have added another story of redemption.

How did it end so quickly?

The most important thing was that Loka’s heart told her that every word the young man said was true, and they were all from his heart.

“Those evil believers are shameless, especially the Mother of Life Church. They are extremely evil!” Arlen said indignantly.

“Yes, that’s right.” Loka nodded in agreement.

“They love to slaughter the people.”

“That’s right.” Loka agreed.

“They also love to snatch the children of the people, and the wives of the men.”

“That’s right.” Loka nodded.

“They are even more chaotic. The Mother of Life is just a trained breeding sow, and she has a silver party with her Archbishop every day!”

“That’s right.” Loka nodded, and then reacted. Her pupils widened.

“Huh? Is that right? Does the Mother of Life Church have an Archbishop? Hey, hey, hey, is this true?”

“That’s because you are ignorant.” Arlen said affirmatively, and added in his heart, ‘At least that’s how I play.’

Insulting the Mother Of Life, Arlen had no burden.

This was the area ruled by the righteous gods. No matter how he scolded, the Mother of Life couldn’t do anything to him for now.

And even if She heard it, She wouldn’t care.

After all, there were tens of millions of people scolding Her every day.

“I know I have committed unforgivable sins.” Arlen confessed sincerely.

“It’s not that serious.” Loka’s solemn momentum faded a bit.

“I sacrificed twenty-one living lives.” The young man’s eyes sparkled with tears.

“They are all villains, villains. And it’s for self-preservation. You are innocent!” Loka blurted out, but she noticed something wrong.

‘–I was clearly here to stop the evil believer. How did it become to encourage him?’

“I know, no matter what, I can’t redeem my sins. And for the sake of better monitoring me in the future, I will never sacrifice innocent people. I swear to the goddess!”

Arlen looked at Loka and said solemnly, “Please let me join the Holy Light Church to atone for my sins!”

“Huh?” Loka was stunned.
