Alhandra woke up and was a bit surprised not to see Wei’an. Why was he up so early today?
Thinking this, he got up and went to wash up.
When he came to the living room after freshening up, Alhandra immediately noticed Wei’an sitting on the sofa with the back of his head visible, and in front of him stood Papar Xing, looking unusually serious.
It was rare to see him like this.
A little surprised, Alhandra came downstairs and said, “It’s rare to see your expression like this. It seems like something happened that made you unhappy.”
Papar Xing twitched his lips when he saw him, his golden eyes narrowed slightly.
“This might be something you won’t be too pleased with, either.”
As soon as he finished, Wei’an, hearing his male father’s voice, turned around happily and greeted him, “Good morning, male father!”
“…………”
When Wei’an’s indescribably peculiar hairstyle came into Alhandra’s view, he froze in an eerie silence.
After a long pause, he reached out to touch Wei’an’s hair and softly asked, “Were you attacked by some strange creature?”
“No, I cut it myself,” Wei’an replied with an innocent face, his bright blue eyes showing a hint of pride and seeking praise.
Alhandra wanted to say something but couldn’t bring himself to deliver a compliment that he didn’t truly feel.
Fortunately, Shang You and the others, who had woken up early, arrived just in time. Seeing Wei’an’s different hairstyle, they curiously gathered around, “Wow!”
“Why do you look like this, Wei’an?”
“I cut it myself,” Wei’an explained.
“Why did you cut your own hair?” Krillochuan asked, puzzled.
Chu Yi, with his gaze fixed on Wei’an’s hair, was also perplexed. Why would he suddenly decide to cut his hair?
Wei’an raised his chubby hand to touch the half-cut hair that Papar Xing had stopped him from finishing, and said matter-of-factly, “My hair kept poking my male father’s eyes, so I cut it so it won’t poke him anymore.”
His previously neat short hair was now chopped up like it had been nibbled on by some odd creature. The most peculiar thing was the small patch just above the forehead. It was cut to the point where his scalp was fully visible, and it looked like burrs that had just grown out, while the rest of his hair was in disarray, with lengths varying everywhere.
Hearing his reason for cutting his hair, Alhandra felt a wave of tenderness. He touched the adorably ugly haircut and spoke with a heavy heart, “Since it’s already like this, let’s just shave it all off!”
After thinking about it, he simply couldn’t come up with a way to salvage this peculiar style.
With Wei’an’s permission, Alhandra began shaving. Before starting, he even took a picture to preserve Wei’an’s look as it was.
Ten minutes later, a freshly shaved little bald head appeared.
Wei’an, already white and round, now looked even more like a plump little rice ball with his bald head.
With a chilly and unfamiliar sensation atop his head, he rubbed it with both hands, blinking his big blue eyes and softly murmuring, “So strange!”
Papar Xing grinned and circled him, even reaching out to pat his little bald head. “It actually looks pretty cute.”
Receiving the compliment, Wei’an lifted his chubby face proudly, “Wei’an has always been cute.”
Seeing his adorable display, Chu Yi couldn’t resist and also reached out to touch his bald head.
Wei’an, being good-natured, let them all touch it with a cheerful smile.
In the afternoon, little bald-headed Wei’an sat under a tree, calling each of his brothers.
Quan Ci, who was preparing to leave for the Star Beast Territory, was taken aback when he saw the gleaming bald head on the virtual video.
“Brother,” Wei’an greeted him in the video, smiling with his bright blue eyes as he reached up to touch his bald head, excitedly showing him. “Look, Wei’an has no hair now.”
Quan Ci frowned. “Who shaved your head?”
“Male father did.”
Quan Ci held back for a moment before finally muttering, “He must have nothing better to do!”
Is his male father so idle that he spends his time bothering Wei’an?
Even after the call ended and he boarded the starship to the Star Beast Territory, Quan Ci was still concerned about whether his increasingly unreliable male father could properly care for Wei’an.
When Quan Yan(1st brother) answered Wei’an’s call, he was initially taken aback, but after a while, he found it rather cute.
When Quan Fan and Quan Yan came home and saw Wei’an’s bald head, they stood silently for a long time. The two couldn’t help but reach out occasionally to touch it, still trying to process how their little brother’s once fluffy hair had disappeared overnight.
The next day, Wei’an went to the kindergarten with his bald head and was surrounded by everyone. All the little cubs who were sitting at their spots gathered around him as soon as they saw his eye-catching shiny bald head.
“Wei’an, Wei’an, where’s your hair?”
“I shaved it.”
“Wow! It looks so cool!”
Feeling proud, Wei’an beamed and said, “I think it looks good too.”
Seeing how much attention and praise Wei’an’s bald head received, all the little cubs went home that night clamoring to shave their heads too.
Their male fathers and female fathers, bewildered by their demands, reluctantly agreed and shaved their heads as requested.
After a whole day of compliments, Wei’an returned home feeling utterly pleased.
But the next day at the kindergarten, he was shocked to see many other little cubs with bald heads, just like his. His mouth dropped open in surprise.
Why did everyone shave their heads? Did their hair also poke their male fathers’ eyes?
Not only was he surprised, but Shang You and the others were also astonished. What happened? How did almost the entire class, aside from a few cubs like themselves, all turn bald overnight?
Yi Suofan, who hadn’t joined in, calmly took out his device to record the scene.
What was this? Blackmail material for the future—this was something they could tease each other about when they grew up. Such a rare opportunity!
Wei’an, still confused about everything, ended up leaving his things behind at the kindergarten when it was time to go home.
Realizing his mistake, he told Shang You and the others to wait for him and then turned back with his little legs to retrieve what he’d forgotten.
On his way back, Wei’an unexpectedly ran into someone.
Surprised, he looked at Cen Wei, who was half a head taller than him. “Brother Cen Wei, why are you here?”
Sitting in the corner and just waking up, Cen Wei stood up, leaning against the wall. He wobbled forward and leaned on Wei’an, his half-closed light purple eyes glancing at Wei’an’s shiny bald head. Rubbing his grayish-white hair against Wei’an’s cheek, he murmured, “I ran away from home, Wei’an. You need to take me in.”
“Ran away from home?” Wei’an asked, puzzled. “Why did you run away?”
Because his crazy female father trains him to death since he knew that his physique was extraordinary. It’s a pity that he is a lazy person by nature. Poor Cen Wei, who had to wake up at five every morning to start training, often finishing only by eight at night. And the training kept getting harder—it was exhausting.
He had spent half a year planning and preparing to finally escape his female father’s grasp.
The backstory was too long, and Cen Wei was too lazy to explain, so he simply replied, “Because I wanted to!”
“Oh, I see,” Wei’an nodded, not fully understanding.
“So, will you take me in?”
“Okay.”
“You’re the best.” As soon as he said that, Cen Wei relaxed and instantly fell asleep against him.
Seeing he was asleep, Wei’an stood still, a little unsure. Then he whispered, “Cen Wei, are you asleep?”
“Can you not sleep? Let’s go home and sleep instead.”
“Cen Wei?”
After seeing that he couldn’t wake up, Wei’an had no choice but to roll up his sleeves and prepare to carry Brother Cen Wei back.
He first put Cen Wei’s hands on his shoulders from behind, and then stretched out his hands to wrap his arms around his legs. However, he found that with his short hands, he could not fully wrap his arms around Cen Wei’s legs no matter how much he stretched out his hands.
Wei’an pouted and glanced at his hands. His hands weren’t short at all; it must be that brother Cen Wei was too fat.
Under the dusk sky, a little cub with a bare head, looking like a glutinous rice ball, trudged forward carrying a female cub a full head taller. On closer inspection, it was clear that the female cub was being dragged more than carried since both his legs trailed along the ground.
The female zergs who saw this scene on the road looked at Cen Wei on Wei’an’s back in condemnation.
Awoken by the stares, Cen Wei shot a cold glare over his shoulder, his light purple eyes momentarily appearing darker than the abyss as they caught the light.
Shang You and the others who were waiting at the spot were surprised when they saw Cen Wei, and they were even more surprised when they learned that he had run away from home.
A few of them helped to lift Cen Wei into the vehicle, all breathing a sigh of relief.
“He isn’t fat, so why is he so heavy?” Shang You muttered, wiping his brow and poking Cen Wei’s cheek.
“No idea,” Wei’an shook his head.
Every day after school, Shang You and the others would gather at Wei’an’s house to play until dinnertime, sometimes staying over if they were having too much fun. They’d line up and sleep together.
The days passed like this day by day, and soon summer arrived. The rumbling of thunder echoed in the sky, and when it wasn’t thundering, Wei’an would poke his head out the window, now with a bit of hair, and curiously gaze at the sky.
Huge raindrops fell from the dark clouds above, pattering on his hands and face with a slight tingle and ticklish sensation.
There was the sound of a group of young male cubs playing in the distance. Wei An held up the window and looked over, and found that it was Shalou Kuer and the others who were splashing water on each other in the rain.
“Let’s go play too!” Shang You, who had somehow appeared beside him, said excitedly.
“But our clothes will get wet,” Wei’an hesitated, a slight longing flickering in his bright blue eyes.
“They’ll dry; we can just change!” Naiman pulled him by the hand, urging him, “Hurry, while the teachers aren’t around—if they were, we wouldn’t be able to play!”
Wei’an still hesitated but found his feet following obediently.
As soon as they stepped outside, the warm raindrops splashed all over him. Startled, Wei’an instinctively pulled his foot back, but in the next second, Shang You dragged him out into the rain, making him squeal in surprise as his bright blue eyes curved with delight.
Seeing Wei’an and the others joining, Shalou Kuer proposed that they split into two teams for a water fight, with the losing side buying treats for the winners.
His proposal was approved, but he encountered some obstacles when dividing the camps.
Shalou Kuer was insistent on being in Wei’an’s group, and Shang You and Krillochuan refused to leave Wei’an’s side, creating an imbalance. In the end, they resolved it by adding two extra Zerg to the other team.
With a shout of “Start!” Shalou Kuer took off his shoes, using them to scoop water and fling it at the other side.
Wei’an, meanwhile, cupped his small hands to splash water. Although his throws weren’t particularly strong, he seemed surprisingly good at dodging. It was like instinct; he never made an effort to dodge but avoided all the water thrown his way perfectly.
Noticing this, Shalou Kuer asked excitedly, “How do you do that?”
Wei’an blinked in confusion, “Do what?”
“Dodge all the water they’re throwing!”
“Huh?” Wei’an tilted his head, puzzled, “I wasn’t dodging.”
“Bah.” Right as he spoke, Shalou Kuer got a face full of water. He quickly lifted his shirt to wipe his face, muttering, “I’ll ask later; I need to get some revenge first.”
Then, wielding both shoes filled with water, he charged forward.
Still puzzled, Wei’an was pulled over to help by Shang You’s calls.
At this time, a slender figure stood on the street opposite the kindergarten, he stood quietly with his back against the wall. His tanned face showing exhaustion, dark red eyes holding back roiling emotions. His chin was ringed with faint stubble.
Quan Ci gazed in the direction of the kindergarten, and the clamor within him calmed somewhat as he thought of Wei’an inside.
He wasn’t sure why, but ever since that day when he completed his mission to hunt star beasts, he’d felt an intense desire to see Wei’an, to hold his small, soft body and hear him talk in his adorable little voice.
In fact, nothing happened that day, except that Chu Yuan died at the hands of a star beast. This was normal. Every year, Zerg soldiers died during their graduation tasks, and they went into it mentally prepared.
He just suddenly wanted to see Wei’an, so he’d traveled here day and night without rest.
The transparent energy shield kept the rain off Quan Ci, but he looked even more worn than the drenched female Zerg rushing by in the downpour.
Eventually, the rain subsided, and Wei’an and his friends, thoroughly soaked, were standing in a corner, heads down, being scolded. A tall male Zerg was scolding them while quickly finding them dry clothes, thinking to himself how these little male cubs seemed to get rowdier by the day. Leave them alone for a minute, and they’d do just about anything.
Once they were all changed, Wei’an and his friends happily held hands and ran back to class.
This time, Daal’s team lost, so they promised to treat everyone to snacks. After setting a date, the cubs joyfully gathered their things and left school.
As soon as Wei’an stepped out of the kindergarten gate, he spotted Quan Ci leaning against the wall. He jumped up excitedly and waved to the figure leaning against the wall opposite, “Brother, why are you here…”
Before he could finish, Quan Ci walked over quickly and pulled him into a tight embrace.
Holding Wei’an close, Quan Ci buried his head in Wei’an’s small shoulder. In this moment, it was as though he finally found some sense of solace, and his tense back softened just a little.
“Brother,” sensing something, Wei’an patted his shoulder, frowning in fierce, childish concern, “What’s wrong? Did someone bully you? Wei’an will go beat them up.”
Quan Ci shook his head, lifting Wei’an into his arms. His voice was slightly hoarse with fatigue. “Nothing’s wrong. I just missed you and came to bring you home.”
Wei’an wrapped his arms around Quan Ci’s neck, his voice soft. “Wei’an missed brother too.”
Quan Ci patted his head, opening his hand to reveal a tiny, glimmering object like jade.
He looked at the piece of bone jade he’d obtained from the star beast domain, recalling Chu Yuan’s smug face when he received it.
Chu Yuan, who had been thinking of Wei’an for a long time, put his arm around his shoulder and said with determination that he’d carve a small toy from the bone jade to gift to Wei’an so that he could coax Wei’an to call him brother.
“Here,” Quan Ci placed the bone jade in Wei’an’s hand, “A brother named Chu Yuan wanted you to have this.”
Wei’an took the jade in his small hands, his bright blue eyes full of curiosity, “Brother, what is it?”
“This is bone jade,” Quan Ci explained gently, “Only star beasts who die naturally have bones like this, close to the heart. Do you like it?”
“I like it!” Holding the bone jade in his chubby hands, Wei’an’s smile was sweet, and his blue eyes sparkled with joy, “Brother, please help me thank Brother Chu Yuan”
“Alright.”
When they arrived at the Alhandra Manor, Quan Ci, exhausted, didn’t take Wei’an to the main house but instead carried him to his quarters. As they walked, he asked, “Wei’an, will you sleep with brother for a while?”
“Yes.” Wei’an was thrilled at the idea, rubbing his head affectionately against Quan Ci’s chin with a cute smile.
Wei’an, who was lying in his brother’s arms with his eyes closed and trying to sleep, was still not sleepy at all even after Quan Ci fell asleep for a long time.
He blinked his big eyes and took out the new bone jade from his space storage to play with it.
The white bone jade shimmered with tiny spots of light, as if stars had been crushed and fallen into it.
After staring for a while, he opened his mouth and prepared to take a bite, when it’s about to enter his mouth he suddenly paused.
Wei’an took the bone jade to his clothes and wiped it carefully. When he felt it was clean, he put it to his mouth again, opened his mouth, and took a bite.
