The Strange Male Insect Cub

In the evening, with the sunset lingering in the sky, Alhandra walked into the living room, bathed in the last rays of light.

As soon as he entered, he froze, instinctively took two steps back, and looked around to make sure it was indeed the Alhandra Manor before stepping in again.

The living room that appeared in front of him had been destroyed to the point where he could no longer see the original appearance. The originally elegant floor with complex patterns had been painted into a different color by red, black, and blue.

The walls were covered in various mismatched colors, showing strange species and eerie images. The sofa, chairs, and other furnishings hadn’t escaped, and even the staircase leading to the second floor was painted yellow and purple.

Alhandra took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. Just as he was steadying himself, Wei’an, who had paint all over his body and face, ran over and hugged his leg.

Wei’an rubbed his soft cheek against Alhandra’s leg, his bright blue eyes were crooked and sparkling with a crystal smile.

“Male father,” a sweet, milky voice called out, “Happy birthday, male father.”

Alhandra’s heart moved, and the little anger he had had was soothed by this soft voice.

He looked down at Wei’an, noticing the paint smudged on his trouser leg and couldn’t help but chuckle. Squatting down, he pinched Wei’an’s cheek in exasperation, looking at Shang You, Chu Yi, Quan Yu and the others, all standing in a row with paint on them, wishing him a happy birthday. Alhandra spoke with a mix of helplessness and laughter, “You all…”

“Male father, let’s go eat something delicious,” Wei’an said excitedly, pulling him toward the dining area. After ceremoniously seating Alhandra in the main seat, Wei’an climbed up onto a chair beside him, eyes full of anticipation.

Alhandra glanced at the table, covered with unusual-looking dishes, then at Shang You, Krillochuan, Cole, Shang Yan, and Quan Yu, who were all looking at him with hopeful expressions, and an unknown feeling arose in his heart.

“These dishes…you didn’t make them yourselves, did you?”

“Wow!” Wei’an was confused, “How did you know we made them, male father?”

“Just a guess.”

“Amazing!” Wei’an clapped his small, chubby hands, full of admiration.

Realizing they had made the dishes themselves, Alhandra carefully took only a tiny portion. As soon as he put it in his mouth, his throat rolled violently several times.

“Is it good?” The little cubs asked eagerly; after all, this was their first attempt at cooking.

Expressionless, Alhandra took a gulp of water, speaking evenly, “Not bad. You all should try it.”

Encouraged by his words, the cubs couldn’t wait to start picking up the food.

Chu Yi, who had been cautious after helping with the cooking, watched Alhandra’s expression. Seeing no visible reaction, he tentatively picked up some food and put it in his mouth.

As soon as the food entered his mouth, an indescribable, strange flavor surged through him. The once-smiling, excited little cubs’ faces instantly scrunched up, and they turned their heads to the side, spitting out the food with sounds of disgust.

Chu Yi, expressionless, put down his chopsticks and looked at Alhandra with a hard-to-describe expression.

Seeing this, Alhandra’s mouth curled slightly. If I have to suffer, you’re not getting off easy either.

Realizing they’d been tricked, Wei’an wiped his mouth and felt aggrieved, “The male father is not good, you are a liar.”

Alhandra, who was in a much happier mood, pulled Wei’an into a hug, tilting his head down to ask, “Male father is not good. Does Wei’an still like male father?”

Wei’an, resting in his arms, thought for a moment, then looked up and gave him a kiss on the cheek, and said with a smile, “Yes, does male father like Wei’an?”

Alhandra chuckled softly. “I do.”

Happy, Wei’an wiggled his little feet and leaned up. “Kiss, please~”

Looking at Wei’an’s face, covered in purple and brown paint, Alhandra couldn’t quite find a clean spot to kiss. Eventually, he kissed the top of Wei’an’s head, earning a confuse look from the cub.

For safety’s sake, the food made by the cubs was discreetly removed after that.

After dinner, Wei’an and the others eagerly dragged Alhandra outside to play.

Under the moonlight, the stars twinkled, adding to the night’s beauty. With Chu Yi’s help, Wei’an finally climbed a tree, spreading his arms with a shimmering smile in his blue eyes. “Male father, you have to catch Wei’an!”

With that, he leaped without hesitation.

Alhandra opened his arms and caught Wei’an, lifting him up, the little cub in his arms laughing gleefully as he tossed him gently into the air.

“Uncle Alhandra, catch me too!” a voice suddenly called. Looking up, Alhandra saw Shang You up in the tree, and as soon as he finished his sentence, he leaped down.

Quickly, Alhandra set Wei’an down and caught Shang You.

With excitement shining in his teal-green eyes, Shang You immediately climbed down from Alhandra’s arms and ran back to the tree. “So fun! I want to go again!”

Quan Yu was even quicker, reaching the tree by the time Shang You got there.

Standing on the tree, he glanced down at the unfamiliar male father below, opened his mouth but said nothing, closed his eyes, and jumped down.

Alhandra caught him, and Quan Yu found himself in his male father’s arms for the first time. Blinking, he gripped Alhandra’s shirt and quietly called, “Male father.”

“Hm,” Alhandra responded, rubbing his head before setting him down.

Quan Yu, who was put down, raised his hand and touched his hair. The male father’s embrace smelled good, generous and warm. No wonder his brother always liked to stay in male father’s arms.

While he was thinking, he quickly ran to line up under the tree to take another turn.

When Chu Yi was finally dragged onto the tree by Wei’an, his entire face was blank. Looking down at the tall Alhandra below, he felt a twinge of nervousness.

Falling into Alhandra’s arms, feeling a gentle pat on his head, something quietly shifted within him.

In that moment, the heart of a life that had been long excluded and wandered alone, assuming it would wander forever, began to feel a sense of belonging to a race.

Chu Yi realized that the Zerg weren’t as cold-blooded, xenophobic, or aggressive as the interstellar legends said. They were strong yet gentle, just like an elder.

That evening, after an exhausting day of play, Shang You and the others stayed at Alhandra Manor, and Chu Yi, who was about to leave, ended up being persuaded to stay.

Although Wei’an was tempted to sleep with his friends, Wei’an, who had not slept with his male father for several days because he was ill, wanted to sleep with his father more, so he could only make an agreement with his friends regretfully to sleep together next time.

In the bathroom, Wei’an looked at the colored water washing off him with wide-eyed surprise. “Is Wei’an so dirty?”

Alhandra, washing him for the second time, nodded seriously. “Very dirty.”

Wei’an held out his slippery little hand, “Male father, wash me.”

Alhandra pinched his nose pretending to be disgusted, “Wash it yourself.”

“No,” Wei’an clung to his arm and shook it coquettishly, with a soft and cute smile on his baby-fat face. “Male father, wash me. Wei’an doesn’t know how.”

After taking a bath, he became clean again. Wei’an lay on Alhandra’s stomach, examining his freshly-scented little feet. “Male father, Wei’an’s feet are so tiny.”

He rolled over and compared his feet to Alhandra’s. “Look!” He tugged Alhandra’s robe. “Look, quick!”

Alhandra glanced over and saw a white and tender little foot, even the toes were pink and less than half the size of his palm next to his own, wiggling cutely.

Amused, Alhandra put his book down and mischievously grabbed Wei’an’s little foot, tickling it.

“Haha… Male father is bad, stop… it tickles…” Wei’an laughed and squirmed, kicking at Alhandra’s hand.

Instead of letting go, Alhandra tickled him even more. Giggling uncontrollably, Wei’an rolled over, then suddenly hugged his male father’s foot and gave it a playful bite.

Startled, Alhandra laughed, pulling him into his arms. “Who knew you’d start biting when pushed?”

“Humph,” Wei’an flashed a toothy grin. “Male father is mean.”

“Yes, mean,” Alhandra replied with a laugh.

“Male father.” Wei’an’s playful face suddenly grew serious as he nestled on Alhandra’s shoulder.

“What’s wrong?” Sensing the shift, Alhandra gently patted his back.

“Please don’t get sick anymore, okay?”

“Why?”

“When the male father is sick, Wei’an feels very hurt.”

“Where does it hurt?”

“Here.” Wei’an placed his hand over his little heart, his blue eyes were full of dependence and sincerity.

Looking into those same blue eyes, Alhandra was reminded of the time his own male father passed away.

At that time, he only felt a little confused when facing his male father’s departure. Other than that, he didn’t feel much pain or sadness.

It wasn’t until one day at a certain moment when he called out for his male father and received no answer that he realized he had lost the one being closest to him forever.

Such surging and inexorable sadness put him in a state of suffocation at any time in the days to come.

Stroking Wei’an’s head and seeing the dependence in his eyes, a tear slipped down Alhandra’s cheek.

Wei’an immediately reached up, wiping away his tears with his little hand. “Male father, what’s wrong with you? Is it hurting there? Don’t cry, don’t cry.”

Alhandra playfully pinched his mouth. “I’m not crying. Your hair just poked me in the eye.”

Wei’an touched his hair, giving it a pat with his chubby hands, and said in a sweet voice, “I’ll beat it for you!”

After a dreamless night, Wei’an, with his mind set on the matter, woke up early the next morning. Climbing out of bed, he skipped washing up and went straight to the robot butler, requesting hair-cutting tools.

The housekeeper noted that Wei’an’s hair was indeed getting long and brought him the tools, intending to help him cut it. But Wei’an declined.

“Wei’an wants to cut it himself,” he said, tilting his soft plump little face upwards.

If his hair poked his male father’s eyes, he would cut it off himself.

Seeing how determined he was, the housekeeper could only watch nearby to prevent any accidents.

As Wei’an clumsily took his first cut, the robot butler closed its eyes.

The moment Papar Xing entered and saw Wei’an, the gentle expression he had always maintained wavered. Watching as Wei’an continued his bold assault on his own hair, Papar Xing quickly rushed over, exclaiming, “No, stop right now!”
