It was already evening when the male fathers walked out of the hospital with their male cubs in their arms. The sun had withdrawn all its sharp rays and heat, and the magnificent sky was being gradually soaked in ink. The last remnants of sunlight fell on their faces.
A deep, thick sound of Zerg beasts rang out from nowhere, in the blink of an eye, and in the blink of an eye it spread to the entire sky above of Kato Star.
The sound was majestic and serene, as if soothing a departed soul or guiding that soul to the side of the god.
According to legend, this sound was the Zerg God welcoming the male Zerg back to his side.
Alhandra and the others stood in place, looking up at the sky. Under the deepening sky, countless female insects spread their wings and flew high into the sky, as if chasing the departed male Zerg or escorting them to the side of the Zerg God.
The male Zerg quietly watched the scene, and their eyes, despite being of different colors, all seemed to hold the same emotion. They held their male cubs more tightly. If the Zerg God truly existed…
Sensing something, Wei’an clung to the neck of the male father and rubbed his face with his soft baby cheeks. “Male father, don’t be sad.”
Alhandra lowered his eyelids. “Mm, I’m not sad.”
If the Zerg God really existed… how wonderful that would be!
There had been studies among the male Zerg in the past on whether the EY inside male Zerg could be extracted. It was during that time that they discovered the EY material had already transformed into nourishment for their spiritual power. Since the EY had become part of their spiritual power, how could it ever be separated again?
It’s like growing taller after eating food—how could you extract the food from your height once you’ve grown?
At night, Quan Chu found Alhandra in the study. For the first time, there was an expression of hesitation and indecision on his usually stern and serious face.
“What is it?” Alhandra was the first to speak.
“Do male Zerg deliberately mistreat their female mates and female cubs so that they can live well after the male Zerg dies?” After asking the first question, the rest of his terrifying suspicions flowed smoothly out. “Does comforting female Zergs reduce the lifespan of male Zerg?”
Quan Chu stared hard at Alhandra. Every word he spoke, every suspicion he voiced, felt like it was ripping apart his flesh, making his heart and lungs ache.
Alhandra gave him a strange look. “Indeed, after male Zerg turn ten, their first lesson is how to sever all familial ties related to themselves from the female Zerg—female fathers, female brothers, female sisters, female children…”
As he spoke, he walked to the desk and sat down, looking Quan Chu up and down. Then, a slight curiosity and a trace of mockery appeared on his face. “But you didn’t think I treated you poorly because of that, did you?”
“Being born into the Alhandra family and being a male Zerg, I have been surrounded by all kinds of bottomless favor and flattery since I was a child. Standing at the pinnacle of power and status from birth, I won’t deny that I was a bit spoiled.” He held up his fingers, showing a small distance between them.
“I chose you because you’re indeed good-looking, and you have a great figure. Especially when that stern, cold face of yours can’t hold it anymore in bed, it suits my tastes perfectly.”
Alhandra, now more interested, walked up to Quan Chu and pinched his face, examining it closely from side to side. “Other than these interests, I have no feelings for you. Naturally, I won’t be afraid that you’ll follow me in death. But if you want to comfort yourself by thinking that way, I don’t mind.”
Quan Chu looked up at the male Zerg in front of him. His heart wasn’t stirred at all by these words. He had no feelings for him to begin with, so Alhandra’s words caused no harm. Instead, he felt a little pity for the male.
Because of their short lifespan and the special relationship between female Zerg and male Zerg, they could never be close to their female fathers, female children, or female monarch. If no male cubs were born, they would be alone for their entire lives.
“There’s one more question you haven’t answered.” The answer to the next question was what he truly wanted to know.
“Tch.” Alhandra looked at him with an expression as if he were a fool. “Have you ever thought that if comforting female Zerg harmed male Zerg, how would I ever allow Wei’an, at such a young age, to practice on female Zergs in the streets?”
Quan Chu paused, and the pain that had been gnawing at his heart due to his suspicions finally eased.
It would be great if that was the case.
He glanced deeply at Alhandra, though it was unclear if he truly believed him. In any case, he didn’t ask any more questions that would shock Alhandra.
After Quan Chu left, Alhandra leaned on the desk and couldn’t suppress a cough. This cough seemed to activate something inside him, and he couldn’t stop.
One cough after another echoed through the empty study, harsh and urgent. After finally stopping, he pressed his fingers to his brow.
The reason the males treated female Zergs poorly can barely be known to a few females.
But the fact males shorten their lifespan by appeasing females and guiding the eggs to be born—that absolutely could not be known.
In fact, it’s not like there haven’t been any female zergs that noticed something unusual over the years and quietly explored in secret.
Alhandra twitched the corner of his mouth, not knowing how those male insects in the past could cope with it. Without Wei’an, he would have had a hard time fooling Quan Chu this time.
Fortunately, he pushed out the position of head of the family early. Those powerful male zergs are very busy tonight, there are millions of female zergs.
He was actually curious about how they would smooth things over.
Returning to his room, he looked at the peacefully sleeping Wei’an on the bed, his little mouth smacking. Alhandra smiled, pinched his soft little face, and then lay down, hugging his small body as he drifted off to sleep.
The moon was high in the sky, and the gorgeous moonlight poured in through the gaps in the curtains. On the luxurious bed, it was obvious that the tall male zerg was sleeping with his cub in his arms, but somehow their heads were touching each other, as if they were very dependent on each other.
Since crazily absorbing the EY substance that afternoon, Wei’an’s body had been undergoing rapid changes every second. As a young cub, his body was already frail, unable to withstand too much energy or such drastic transformations.
His instinct to not give up on the energy he had consumed led to fluctuating resistance in his body throughout the entire afternoon.
Late at night, a small cough suddenly sounded, but Alhandra, who would normally have woken up immediately, only shifted his hand vaguely and didn’t react.
Gradually, intermittent coughing continued to echo in the room. At one point, Wei’an woke up, frowning in discomfort, and curled further into his male father’s arms before drifting back into a hazy sleep.
In the morning, Alhandra woke up groggily, his head heavy. As soon as he opened his eyes, he saw Wei’an’s flushed face. Instinctively, he reached out to touch him, and upon feeling the scorching heat and noticing his labored breathing, he knew something was wrong.
Sitting up in bed, Alhandra cradled Wei’an and hurriedly got out of bed, but his legs gave way, and he crashed heavily to the floor, landing flat on his back.
The fall snapped him fully awake, and rubbing his head, he quickly called for Qiao Song and the Zerg doctor through his terminal.
After some chaotic examinations, the conclusion was that both male Zerg of the Alhandra family, Alhandra Wei’an and Alhandra himself, had fallen ill.
When Wei’an woke up and learned that he was sick—and had even been given an injection—he lay there with a flushed face, tears welling up in his bright blue eyes, feeling utterly wronged as he started calling his brothers one by one to complain.
“Brother~”
The moment Quan Yan(Major General/Eldest brother) picked up the call, he was greeted by the sight of Wei’an lying weakly in bed, his once white and tender face now reddened, teary-eyed, and pitifully calling out to him.
His heart immediately tightened, his brows furrowed, and his voice unconsciously became fierce, “What’s wrong?”
“I’m sick~” Wei’an sniffled, his voice soft and weak from the illness. “It’s so sad~”
Quan Yan had heard about the incident on Kato Star and thought that Wei’an had gotten sick because he was frightened. Anger surged in his heart.
“Have you taken your medicine?” He suppressed the anger in his heart and said softly.
“I did,” Wei’an rubbed his sore butt, his voice clearly choked with tears, “but they also hit me, and it really hurt.”
Quan Yan’s face darkened, “You’re sick, and someone still hit you?”
“Mm-hmm,” Wei’an complained, gesturing with his hands to show how big the needle was. “Doctor Qiao Song hit me with such a big needle.”
Understanding that it was part of the treatment, Quan Yan’s expression finally softened.
After the call with Quan Yan, Wei’an moved on to complaining to Quan Yan(Actor/Second brother).
Quan Chu, sitting nearby, watched as Wei’an called each of his brothers one by one to complain. He didn’t know whether to feel distressed or amused.
After being comforted by his brothers, Wei’an’s mood improved significantly. He lifted his hands, asking Quan Chu for a hug, and once held, he nuzzled affectionately into his embrace.
…
Wei’an cried a lot after he fell ill. He hadn’t seen the male father all morning. After hearing Quan Chu say that his male father was also sick, his tears immediately started streaming down his face.
Once Alhandra had finished his treatment, Wei’an refused to leave his arms, insisting on staying close.
Something seemed to have changed in Alhandra as well—perhaps his brain wasn’t functioning properly from the fever. Whenever Wei’an shed tears, Alhandra would shed tears along with him too.
The father and son looked at each other with tears streaming down their faces.
Quan Chu, after accidentally witnessing the scene, felt his perception of the male lord crumble, and doubts about what Alhandra had said the previous night began to resurface.
On December 26th, 3855, the black markets across various interstellar planets suddenly suffered devastating attacks. Any black market secretly involved in missions concerning male Zerg was brutally wiped out without exception.
This incident caused a massive uproar throughout the interstellar community, but the various factions and races involved in the black markets fell eerily silent.
Though an unnamed force was officially responsible for the destruction of the black markets, everyone knew in their hearts that it was the Zerg.
Those forces that hadn’t been involved in any Zerg-related events but were still implicated were privately gnashing their teeth, furious at whoever had provoked the Zerg!
At the same time, Femir Star launched another attack on the Parmin race, seizing three of their military planets. It was said that the Parmin King was so enraged that he had to be placed in a healing cabin.
The Zerg also began refusing to sell black crystal to the Orc race, the Yula race, and several other races, announcing that if they discovered any other races selling black crystal to these ten races, the Zerg would immediately cut off all black crystal trade with them.
This effectively hit these ten races where it hurt. Black crystal wasn’t just the main material for building teleportation points; it was also an essential component in spatial storage, heavy weaponry, and the manufacturing of mechas.
Faced with fierce opposition and questioning from these races, the Zerg remained indifferent. Though there was no concrete evidence yet, it was already clear that these ten races were about 80% responsible for the incident.
The Zerg would remember this debt down to their bones, and once the Star Beast domain was settled, they would make sure to settle this score properly!
