Early in the morning, a group of male cubs gathered at the entrance of the kindergarten on time, each holding a bouquet of flowers.
When Yi Suofan arrived, he was stunned by the sight. “What are you guys doing?”
“We’re going to see Wei’an!” Ta’er said matter-of-factly. Seeing that Yi Suofan hadn’t brought anything, he pulled two flowers from his bouquet and handed them over. “Here, why didn’t you bring flowers?”
Yi Suofan numbly accepted them. Was it just his imagination, or was everything moving in a more unusual direction?
When Shalou Kuer arrived, he looked at the group, each holding a bouquet, and didn’t find anything wrong. He assumed they simply missed the injured Wei’an.
Annoyed, he stepped forward, “Why didn’t you call me for this ceremony? It’s awkward showing up empty-handed!”
Ta’er chuckled and pulled out a huge bouquet from his storage space, handing it to Shalou Kuer. “We prepared it for you already.”
Satisfied, Shalou Kuer accepted the bouquet and took the lead. “Let’s go. I told Wei’an last night that we’d visit today. He’s probably looking forward to it.”
At Alhandra Manor, Wei’an, who could already walk normally, was busy decorating his home with Shang You and others, preparing to welcome their kindergarten classmates.
Wei’an was very happy to hear they were coming to see him and had prepared plenty of snacks and ice cream.
As soon as Shalou Kuer and the others arrived at the gate, before they could even contact Wei’an to let him know, the butler, who had been waiting, greeted them with a signature smile.
When Wei’an came out holding a fruit platter and saw them walking toward him, faces filled with sorrow and arms full of flowers, he was completely dumbfounded.
Seeing Wei’an, Ta’er quickly waddled over on his short legs to support him, full of emotion. “Knowing we were coming, you got out of bed even though you’re paralyzed. We’re so touched!”
He had crammed last night, watching videos and reading up on how to visit bedridden friends, he felt very satisfied that he had performed well on the spot.
Theodore followed closely, supporting Wei’an from the other side, his eyes full of pity. “Really, Wei’an, we know you’re excited to see us, but you have to take care of your health!”
Blinking in confusion, Wei’an looked at their bouquets and sorrowful expressions, his soft voice full of uncertainty. “Me? I’m paralyzed?”
“Yes.” Theodore nodded vigorously. “We’ve heard all about your brave deeds, Wei’an. You’re truly courageous.”
Yi Suofan, one of the male cubs, threw the bouquet aside expressionlessly into a nearby trash-collecting robot. He had known they couldn’t be trusted—so embarrassing.
Krillochuan, realizing what was happening, angrily placed his arms around Ta’er and Theodore’s shoulders. “Who said Wei’an was paralyzed?”
Daring to curse Wei’an? They were clearly asking for trouble!
Ta’er blinked. “Cole said so!”
Krillochuan, Wei’an, Shang You, and Naiman all turned to look at Cole, waiting for an explanation.
Cole, who was suddenly accused, was completely bewildered. “How could I say something like that? I only told Shalou Kuer that Wei’an had injured his tailbone and needed to stay home for a couple of days. Shang You, Naiman, you were both there!”
Shang You and Naiman, who had indeed been present, turned to look at Shalou Kuer.
Shalou Kuer was just as confused. Weren’t they visiting Wei’an because he was injured? When did it turn into a visit for a paralyzed Wei’an?
“Don’t look at me! I also said Wei’an was injured and had to rest at home for a couple of days. I only added that he got hurt fighting with an adult male Zerg.”
His gaze landed on Gary, who scratched his head. “I just thought that if Wei’an fought with an adult male Zerg, he must be more seriously injured—maybe even have a fractured bone. I figured he didn’t tell us the full extent so we wouldn’t worry.”
After questioning everyone, they finally understood how the story had spiraled out of control.
Wei’an sighed with relief after learning the truth. He had almost believed he was actually paralyzed!
With everything cleared up, the group felt a sense of novelty, being gathered with so many male cubs for the first time, and it wasn’t long before they started playing wildly.
After getting tired and eating ice cream, Wei’an wanted more. But since the butler had only prepared one serving per cub, he regretfully patted his little belly.
Shalou Kuer noticed his action and generously offered his own ice cream to Wei’an.
“Aren’t you going to eat it? It’s sweet and cold, really good,” Wei’an asked, holding the ice cream, unsure.
“It’s fine. I can buy more later. My male father gave me a lot of money,” Shalou Kuer said.
“I have money too. Can I buy more?” Wei’an asked, his big eyes full of excitement.
Quan Lu always gave him a lot of money, saying it was for buying things, but he had never used it before.
Shalou Kuer nodded, “Of course. Do you want to buy some? I can take you now.”
“Yes!” Wei’an gobbled down his ice cream and stood up.
Hearing that Wei’an was going to buy more ice cream, the other male cubs quickly followed, saying they wanted to go too.
Under the scorching sun, on the bustling commercial street, more than forty male cubs gathered together, chattering away, drawing all eyes to them.
The female Zerg who had never seen so many male cubs together couldn’t help but stop in their tracks, staring blankly at Wei’an and the others.
Wei’an and the others didn’t feel uncomfortable at all under the stares. As soon as they arrived, Shalou Kuer led them straight to the store selling ice cream.
Once inside, they were dazzled by the wide selection of ice cream and frozen treats. After snapping out of it, they excitedly began picking their favorite flavors.
After each cub bought a bucket of ice cream, they wanted to buy more, but were refused. The sub-female sales assistant, suppressing her excitement, kindly reminded them, “Little cubs shouldn’t eat too much ice cream.”
“Alright.” Wei’an and the others obediently left the store, hugging their ice cream while strolling down the street, buying interesting and fun things to put in their space storage to play with later.
In no time, they finished their ice cream. Just as Wei’an was feeling regretful about not being able to continue eating, Shalou Kuer led them to another ice cream market.
“Don’t worry,” he patted his chest proudly, his face full of confidence. “I know this area well. There are several ice cream markets here, so you can eat to your heart’s content.”
“Wow!”
As Wei’an and the others cheered, Shalou Kuer became even more pleased with himself.
Nearby, Yi Suofan, having just finished his last bite of ice cream, spoke earnestly, “Although it’s delicious, eating too much is definitely not good for your health.”
“That’s not true,” Shalou Kuer retorted. “One time, I ate five buckets of ice cream like this and nothing happened. The big Zergs just lied to us to prevent us from robbing them of their delicious food.”
Wei’an hesitated, unsure of who to believe.
Shalou Kuer stepped forward, trying his best to convince Wei’an, “I really ate five buckets, and I was totally fine.”
Wei’an looked up at him, a head taller than himself, still uncertain.
Shang You on the side chimed in, “If Shalou Kuer ate five buckets without any problem, then we can eat another bucket. Eating just two won’t be an issue.”
Persuaded by Shang You and the little cravings in their bellies, the young cubs charged enthusiastically toward the next ice cream market.
Yi Suofan watched them from behind but couldn’t resist the temptation and followed them inside as well.
Two buckets shouldn’t cause any harm, right?
Before long, Wei’an and the others walked out, each carrying a bucket of ice cream, striding with an air of pride.
Having eaten to their hearts’ content, their white, chubby faces beamed with smiles as they laughed and played around. The female Zergs around them, silently watching over them, felt their moods improve at the sight of the cubs’ happiness.
Suddenly, Wei’an stopped in his tracks as if sensing something, and the other male cubs who were playing around also stopped one by one. In unison, they turned their heads to look at a female Zerg not far away, their soft white faces slightly furrowed.
Why does that female Zerg feel weird?
The female Zerg, who was slowly approaching them, met their gaze. He smiled kindly at Wei’an and the others, then continued to walk toward them.
The male cubs present all felt a chill coming down their spines, hiding behind the biggest among them, Krillochuan, while peeking at the strange female Zerg.
The surrounding female Zergs and hidden military females noticed the sudden change in the cubs’ behavior and immediately directed their attention to the female Zerg that caused it.
Heber, sensing something, stopped in his tracks, his face and eyes full of excitement and thrill at seeing so many male cubs for the first time.
He didn’t seem to be doing anything wrong, but when he tried to step closer, the surrounding female Zerg quickly moved to block his path, preventing him from getting near the cubs.
In the eyes of the secretly protecting military females, there was nothing unusual about this female zerg from its appearance to the restless fluctuations of its source. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary. But with the cubs being so wary of him, they still decided to step in and escort the female Zerg away for inspection.
Just as they were about to reach him, a sudden explosion rang out, and the female Zerg instinctively spread their bone wings, tightly shielding Wei’an and the others.
After the explosion, a strange smell quickly spread through the air. The female Zerg responded swiftly by holding their breath.
But it was no use!
The EY substance, which had been processed and concentrated many times through special procedures, was rapidly seeping into their bodies.
In an instant, the Zerg source in the female Zerg present began to surge uncontrollably, and it was only a matter of seconds before they were on the verge of a riot.
Terrified by the thought of losing control and hurting the cubs, they quickly moved to a safer distance, where they could still protect the cubs in case of danger.
The higher-ranked females among them realized that the strange female Zerg had completely lost any trace of a female Zerg’s aura.
At that moment, they understood—he was not a female Zerg!
Indeed, Heber wasn’t a female Zerg. He was one of the top three bounty hunters on the interstellar black market.
He usually avoided missions involving male Zerg. After all, the Zerg were a terrifyingly vengeful race, and angering them could spell the extinction of his own kind. While Heber considered himself ruthless, he wasn’t so ruthless as to go that far.
But when his beloved partner lay dying from exposure to the EY substance, and only a male Zerg could save him, those so-called lines and boundaries no longer seemed as important.
Besides, the people who secretly contacted him had spent a fortune developing a device that could perfectly disguise someone as a female Zerg. Thanks to that device, Heber had been lurking among the Zerg for half a year without being discovered. But today, with just a distant glance, these young cubs had sensed something off about him.
Realizing he could no longer complete the mission, Heber smiled evilly and stared at a group of male cubs not far away with his gray-white eyes. At this moment, he resembled a bloodthirsty monster.
The device he had just released was the only successfully developed EY concentrated bomb, a little gift he was leaving for the Zerg.
As for these lucky male cubs, blessed by the heavens and destined for a life of happiness, Heber had prepared another gift for them.
A gift that would haunt them for the rest of their lives—a shadow of fear and nightmares.
The smile on his face widened. He hated the unfairness of fate, but regretted not being able to see his partner one last time.
Blood splattered everywhere, and the bloody scene was directly reflected in the wide eyes of the young cubs, staring in shock at the unfolding events.
