Originally, the plan was to hatch a winged beast and claim Cen Sui had deliberately given him a random egg to deceive him, which seemed better than him finding out it was a dead egg.

He had even picked an egg that looked exactly the same, but things took a different turn.

This time, Wei’an was truly heartbroken, not the sadness of being wronged like before, but the deep sorrow and fear of facing death.

Hearing Wei’an’s hoarse cries, Shang You, Cole, and the other cubs also began to cry. As they began crying, the other cubs followed suit, the scene was very chaotic for a while.

“Don’t cry, don’t cry, the egg is fine, it’s perfectly fine,” Alhandra comforted repeatedly.

“It’s… already broken… wu wu wu…” There was a trace of sadness spreading in Wei’an’s blue eyes. That emotion, which Alhandra hated to see in his eyes, was like a clear sky being overtaken by dark clouds, like a sparkling crystal developing cracks.

He hugged Wei’an and turned around to leave. He said with a hint of sobs in his voice, “Really, male father isn’t lying to you, the egg is safe at home.”

Seeing his male father cry too, Wei’an suppressed his cry and silently buried his head on Alhandra’s shoulder to wipe his tears. This action made Alhandra even more heartbroken.

Having learned what happened, Shalou Kuyu grabbed his cub by the ear, “You feel bad if you don’t get into trouble for a day, don’t you? I’ll deal with you properly when we get home!”

“Ouch, ouch, ouch!” Shalou Kuer was tiptoeing, trying to free his ear. “Who knew just smashing a winged beast egg would make him cry like that, as if someone in his family had died.”

Winged beast eggs were his favorite, and when he saw that little cub holding one with a foolish grin from a distance, he couldn’t stand the thought that his male father thought Wei’an was smarter than him. So, he impulsively went over and smashed the egg.

“What did you say!?” Seeing no sign of remorse, Shalou Kuyu kicked him hard in the rear and twisted his ear more.

“Ouch! You actually kicked my butt!” Shalou Kuer grimaced in pain. “I said I would compensate him. He was the one who came at me first.”

“Huh, and you couldn’t even beat a cub half a year younger than you? What are you still upset about?” Shalou Kuyu knew his son was just upset that he always praised Wei’an and had gone to bully him because of that.

“That was a mistake! A mistake! Who knew that such a small dumpling would suddenly rush up and hit me on the head.” His head was still buzzing with pain.

“You’ll apologize with me tonight.” Shalou Kuyu dismissed his excuses.

“I’m not going.”

“Are you going or not?”

“Ouch! Okay, okay, I’ll go!”

A winged beast egg?!

Shang You and the others looked at each other in confusion. Wasn’t it their big white egg? Wasn’t it Wei’an’s older brother?

By the time they started questioning this, Shang Yan had already checked the situation and indeed found a curled-up, underdeveloped winged beast beneath the eggshell.

As for Shang Yan’s current emotions, aside from being confused, there was also relief—relief that it wasn’t their egg, otherwise Wei’an would have been even more devastated.

When Wei’an was carried home, covered in injuries, the butlers, female servants, and female attendants, who had all been informed, hurried over. Alhandra, on his way to the study, shot them a glance and coldly said, “Leave.”

Though concerned, the female attendants halted their steps and turned away.

Inside the study, Wei’an struggled to hold the big white egg. He was completely confused. He glanced at his father, then at the egg in his arms, sniffled, and asked, “Is this the egg?”

“Yeah!” Alhandra nodded affirmatively.

“The egg, my brother?”

“Yeah!”

Realizing through his spiritual power that his brother was indeed inside, Wei’an beamed with joy, even handing the egg over to show, “Father, brother.”

Alhandra, feeling pained, gently patted his tousled hair, “Does it hurt?”

“It doesn’t hurt.” Wei’an smiled through sniffles, looking up with his face covered in bite marks, “The male father is amazing.”

Alhandra’s tears suddenly fell. Hugging Wei’an, he couldn’t help but feel heartache. He didn’t understand how, after just one moment of inattention, Wei’an had ended up hurt like this.

“Crack.”

A crisp sound echoed. Both father and son looked down, seeing cracks spread across the snow-white eggshell. Tears that had just receded started welling up in Wei’an’s eyes again.

“It’s not broken, it’s hatching,” Alhandra touched his head to comfort him, but he was full of surprise. Can a dead egg really hatch?

It was almost like he had forgotten that Wei’an too had been labeled a dead egg, unable to hatch for two years.

Rubbing his temples, Alhandra chuckled to himself. With Wei’an as a living example, how could he have thought this egg wouldn’t hatch? And yet, here they were.

Hearing his father say it was hatching, Wei’an immediately held back his tears, carefully placing the egg on the ground, then crouched beside it, watching intently for the shell to crack.

It didn’t take long before a head with grayish-white hair poked out, followed by shoulders, arms, and then the rest of the body.

The newly hatched female cub had grayish-white hair and pale purple eyes. Dark Zerg markings spread from both sides of its forehead, trailing all the way down to its ankles. On closer inspection, these markings were not a pure black but had a slight grayish hue.

Cen Wei¹, the newly hatched cub, didn’t immediately start gnawing on the eggshell like most cubs. Instead, it crawled out of the shell and made its way to Wei’an, reaching out its small hand to hug half of Wei’an’s body.

With bright blue eyes shining, Wei’an looked up at Alhandra excitedly, “Father, Cen Wei is hugging me!”

“Yeah.” Alhandra gently lifted Cen Wei and placed him back into the eggshell, then picked up Wei’an, “He still needs to eat the shell. Let’s go get your wounds treated first.”

It was only after a moment of distraction that Wei’an began to feel the pain, scrunching up his face in discomfort. “Okay.” He nodded his small head.

At the medical center, Qiao Song, who was treating Wei’an’s wounds, looked extremely displeased. His lips twitched as if he wanted to bite something in frustration.

His cub was so cute and well-behaved, and now some brat had dared to bite him. If he ever found out who it was, he’d prepare an ancient rabies vaccine just to give them a thorough “disinfection”!

“Does it hurt?” he asked, his eyes full of concern.

“It hurts,” the little voice replied, accompanied by watery eyes that made Qiao Song’s heart tremble.

He handed Wei’an two pain-relief candy pills. “Eat these, and it won’t hurt anymore.”

“Mm-hmm.” Wei’an happily narrowed his eyes after opening his mouth to eat the candies his male father peeled for him.

“Don’t easily get into fights with other Zerg in the future,” Qiao Song kept muttering while treating the wounds. Normally, he wasn’t this nagging, but Wei’an had grown up under his care, and he just couldn’t help it.

“And if you must fight, make sure you have companions with you. If you’re alone, just run away. We can regain the lost face later.”

Alhandra glanced at him, clearly questioning what kind of advice the doctor was giving.

The wound treatment took half an hour, and just as it was finished, Shang You and the others came to check on Wei’an.

Unlike Wei’an, who was covered in bandages and adhesive plasters, they had entered the treatment cabin, and their injuries had healed quickly.

“Does it still hurt, Wei’an?” Shang You cautiously extended a hand to poke one of the bandages on Wei’an’s hand, only to be stopped by Shang Yan.

“It doesn’t hurt.” Wei’an pulled them toward the nursery room. “Brother Cen Wei has hatched. I’ll take you to see.”

“Really?” Cole was excited. “What does he look like? Does he look like me?”

Krillochuan, full of disdain, gave Cole a pat on the head. “You’re not his male father, so why would he look like you?”

“Hmm, you’re right.” Cole rubbed his head.

When they arrived at the nursery room and pushed open the door, Cen Wei had already finished eating the eggshell and was lying on the carpet, staring blankly. When he heard the noise, he lifted his eyes to look at them.

His pale purple eyes brightened upon seeing Wei’an, and when he saw Shang You and the others, he closed his eyes in suspicious disgust.

“He seems to be looking down on us,” Naiman remarked, blinking his much darker purple eyes.

“That’s pretty obvious,” Krillochuan said, blowing the gray curly hair on his forehead, then walking over and flicking Cen Wei’s forehead.

Despite getting flicked, Cen Mo didn’t react much, but Wei’an immediately furrowed his brows. “He’s still little, you can’t hit him.”

“Can he be beaten when he grows up?” Shang You suddenly got excited.

“No, you still can’t hit him when he grows up.”

Krillochuan pointed at Cen Wei, looking confused. “I flicked his forehead, but he hasn’t reacted at all. Do you think he’s… stupid?”

It seems. Yes!

Wei’an squatted down and poked Cen Wei’s face after hearing Krillochuan’s comment. Cen Wei, still lying on the ground, only rolled his eyes in response without any other reaction.

Wei’an’s face grew serious. He stood up and ran out, his small voice crying out, “Male father, brother’s stupid!”

Just then, Quan Fan, who had rushed home after hearing that Wei’an had gotten hurt, was climbing the stairs and happened to hear this. He paused, face stiff, before walking upstairs and hooking the little Wei’an, who was running with his short legs, by the collar. In a cold voice, he asked, “Who’s stupid?”

“Brother’s stupid,” Wei’an replied, looking dazed as he stared up at Quan Fan with his bandaged face.

The moment Quan Fan saw the wounds on Wei’an’s face, his brows furrowed tightly. He squatted down and picked Wei’an up. “Who hit you?”

“I don’t know.” Wei’an touched the bandages on his face.

It was all so chaotic earlier, he really didn’t know who hit him.

“Who’s stupid?” Alhandra came out from the study, hearing the commotion.

As soon as Wei’an heard his male father’s voice, he quickly turned around. “Brother’s stupid.”

Alhandra’s gaze landed on Quan Fan.

Quan Fan shook his head. “It’s not me.”

Both of their eyes then focused on Wei’an. Though their expressions were unreadable, they were both curious, which brother was stupid?

“It’s brother Cen Wei.” Wei’an said, pointing toward the nursery room, where several small heads were poking out.

Inside the nursery room, Wei’an, the other cubs, Alhandra, and Quan Fan were all gathered as Qiao Song examined Cen Wei.

“We can’t make a conclusion yet,” Qiao Song said after a thorough check. “We’ll need to wait a while and monitor his development.”

“What does that mean?” Wei’an asked, his big eyes filled with confusion.

“It means we can’t tell yet if Cen Wei is slow. We need some time to see,” Shang Yan explained.

Seeing all his little companions nodding in agreement, Wei’an suddenly touched his own head, starting to wonder if perhaps he was the stupid one instead.

Zerg cubs are easy to read, and Quan Fan gently patted his head, saying, “You’re not stupid.”

“Really?”

“Yeah.”

“Phew~” Wei’an let out a big sigh of relief, his small face filled with a look of rejoice, luckily he wasn’t stupid, otherwise Quan Yu would have had a stupid brother.

Quan Fan, “…” He suddenly started to question whether what he’d just said about Wei’an not being stupid was actually correct.

Notes:

¹Cen Wei: sigh its another character with a similar name, If you guys can remember, the eldest cousin, the brother that cousin Cen Sui fears the most is also named Cen Wei (though different chinese characters, it still has the same pinyin and pronunciation) Also 岑未(Cen Wei) and 岑末(Cen Mo) are being used interchangeably by the author, I’m almost at my wit ends trying to guess which is which and I’m also questioning if the author is making a typo(?) You don’t have to worry though, The eldest brother Cen Wei would not (probably) show up again, the youngest Cen Wei would be the one appearing most of the time from now on.
