On March 21, star calendar 3852, Alhandra, who had come to the capital star to fulfill responsibilities, took little Wei’an with him to board a starship returning to Kato Star.

Unlike usual, Wei’an, who had said goodbye to his uncle and made a promise to visit next time, was not feeling down at all.

That’s because his male father had said that the little brother at home was about to hatch.

Excited about having a brother soon, Wei’an had even prepared a gift—a mecha model they had won while playing games in the amusement park. It looked really cool, and Wei’an was sure his brother would love it.

Upon arriving at Kato Star, Krillochuan and the others, who were supposed to head home, were too curious about what the hatching of a Zerg egg would look like, so instead of going home, they followed Wei’an to Alhandra Manor.

It was quite a coincidence that just as they arrived at the incubation room, the egg started to hatch.

The little ones immediately stood still, covering their mouths, not daring to make a sound, afraid they might startle the hatching brother.

Alhandra found it amusing. Out of all of them, Wei’an had already seen eggs hatching at the incubation park in the capital star, and seeing him so cautious now made him chuckle.

What Alhandra didn’t know was that Wei’an wasn’t nervous about the egg hatching, but rather about the little brother.

When the cub poked its head out of the egg, the little ones let out a small gasp.

This cub was almost the opposite of Wei’an. He had a pair of black eyes and blue hair, with thin dark green Zerg markings spreading from both cheeks down to his shoulders and neck.

Instead of chewing on the eggshell after hatching, the cub stared at them.

Alhandra stepped forward and lifted the cub from the shell, placing it into the lap of the cross-legged Wei’an, who had been waiting.

Wei’an held his little brother tightly with his tiny hands, his big blue eyes full of wonder. “Brother~”

The two cubs looked at each other, and suddenly, the female cub in Wei’an’s arms leaned forward and bit his face.

“Male father, brother wants to eat me~”

Wei’an was startled, and after realizing what had happened, he immediately complained to his male father in his little voice, which made Alhandra laugh loudly, showing no intention of helping.

Nearby, Quan Fan quickly stepped forward to rescue Wei’an from his new brother’s mouth.

Once freed, with a red mark on his face, Wei’an’s eyes filled with tears, and he threw himself into Quan Fan’s arms. “Brother, brother is bad~”

“Yeah.” Quan Fan gently patted his back, his dark green eyes falling on the female cub now chewing on the eggshell.

Ever since seeing his brother hatch, Wei’an had been even more attentive to the big white egg in his arms. Every day, he would gather with Shang You and the others to perform spiritual guidance for the egg.

Papar Xing, having noticed their actions, smiled and joined them, promising to keep it a secret.

With Papar Xing’s involvement and ideas, Alhandra had no way of noticing any changes in the egg.

As time passed, the egg grew heavier by the day and even began to show signs of life with a faint heartbeat.

During a spiritual guidance, the weak heartbeat came one after another along with the spiritual tentacles, as if the frozen life was being revived.

Papar Xing was the first to notice and immediately fell silent, not daring to move.

The heartbeat was so faint, so delicate that any larger movement might make it disappear. Yet it was so powerful, beating steadily, bringing his own long-silent heart back to life.

After a long while, Papar Xing smiled quietly, raising a hand to gently stroke the egg before him.

Suddenly, he understood more deeply why those males in the history of the Zerg race, including his grandfather, father and uncle Alhandra, were so unhesitating.

When one, two, or tens of thousands of young and vibrant lives survive through you,you will be bound by the heartbeat and redemption of the birth of this life.

That is why generation after generation of male Zergs willingly accept these bonds, living lives with regret but no remorse.

“Wei’an.” Papar Xing pinched his cheek. “Do you want to hear a story?”

“Yes!” Wei’an tilted his head, his voice soft and sweet.

“Then I’ll tell you.”

“Mm~”

Alhandra stood upstairs watching this unfold but didn’t intervene. Papar Xing was right—his excessive love and concern had made it impossible to teach Wei’an properly.

Some things Wei’an needed to know, and rather than letting it take him by surprise, it was better to gently ease him into it, little by little.

“Is blackie bad~?”

“Hmm.” Papar Xing, who had learned through their inner circles that Wei’an referred to the EY substance as “blackie,” nodded.

“It makes my brothers sad, and it’s stopping my brother from hatching~”

“Yes.”

“It’s so bad~” Wei’an wrinkled his little nose. “I’ll eat them all up~”

Papar Xing chuckled, ruffling his hair. “How would Wei’an eat them all up?”

“Like this~” Wei’an opened his mouth wide, letting out a soft growl. “Just like this~”

“That’s really awesome.”

“Hehe, I’m awesome~” Wei’an puffed out his little chest, his fair face filled with pride.

Amused, Papar Xing covered his mouth, smiling even more brightly. His golden eyes twinkled with laughter and fondness. “Where did you learn those knife-swinging moves you’ve been showing us?”

Wei’an raised his small hands and patted his head, a bit puzzled. “I don’t know. They’re just in my head~”

“Brother.” A powerful young voice suddenly called out.

Wei’an turned to see his brother Quan Yu rolling and crawling toward him. He quickly stood up to catch his brother but ended up falling on his backside.

Rubbing his sore bottom, Wei’an tearily hugged his brother, who was almost as tall as his shoulder. “Why did you come~?”

“I missed you, brother.”

“Okay.” Hearing that his brother missed him, Wei’an tried hard to hold back his tears. “I missed you just a little bit too~”

Today, Wei’an was dressed differently from usual. He wore a small silver suit just like Alhandra’s, with a tiny bow tie around his collar.

With his black hair and blue eyes, tugging at his male father’s pant leg, Wei’an in his silver suit, trying to keep a serious expression on his baby face, melted the hearts of the Zerg around him.

Today is Shang You’s third birthday party. When inviting Wei’an, Shang You had repeatedly asked him to dress formally to help make a good impression.

Shang You wanted to show everyone who was the most beautiful  male cub on Kato Star.

The cubs were the stars of this banquet, while the adult Zerg went off to mingle.

After being paraded around by Shang You for a while, Wei’an found a place to sit down and took the big white egg from Shang Yan’s hands, ready to sit quietly.

The egg had gotten so heavy that Wei’an could barely hold it anymore.

Papar Xing had said that the brother inside would hatch any day now, so Wei’an had to keep a close watch.

“After my brother breaks out of his shell, he will definitely be different from the younger brother who likes to bite cheeks~” Wei’an whispered, his blue eyes twinkling with joy.

Not far away, Shalou Kuer, who had been searching for his lifelong rival, froze when he saw Wei’an sitting there, his blue eyes full of laughter.

The next moment, he waved his little hand. “He’s my lifelong enemy! Charge!” He led his companions in a spirited charge toward Wei’an.

The male father always compared this cub to him, saying he wasn’t as cute, as obedient, or as smart. Now, Shalou Kuer would show his male father who was the best cub.

The conflicts between cubs always happened so suddenly and directly.

Wei’an was sitting quietly on the sofa when a male cub rushed up without a word and slapped the egg in his arms to the ground, “Come on, let’s fight.”

“Crack.” The egg shattered as it hit the floor.

Wei’an, who had just experienced this sudden disaster, pulled his small hands back, and only after realizing the egg was no longer in his arms, did he blankly look down. Before he could see it, Shang Yan beside him reached out and covered his eyes. “Don’t look.”

He said, “Wei’an, don’t look.”

The slick egg liquid seeped out from the broken shell, and within the shattered pieces, a small, curled-up, pale body, lifeless, could faintly be seen.

Wei’an, tugging at the hand covering his eyes, spoke anxiously in his soft, childish voice, “Shang Yan, the egg… the egg fell on the ground. Don’t cover my eyes. I need to see if it’s okay.”

Shang Yan remained silent, keeping his hand firmly over Wei’an’s eyes. He knew how much Wei’an had been looking forward to this egg hatching.

He had held the egg almost every moment since they met.

That cautious, expectant gaze waiting for his brother to hatch out of the egg made Shang Yan terrified of letting Wei’an see the egg’s current state.

In Wei’an’s desperate struggle, Shang Yan, careful not to hurt him, eventually let him break free.

As soon as Wei’an saw the broken egg on the ground, he froze. He squatted down and reached out, trying to pick up the curled-up body.

Seeing this, Shalou Kuer frowned and kicked aside the thing covered by the egg shells.

“So filthy,” he sneered, looking arrogantly at Wei’an, “Why would you touch something so dirty?”

Wei’an, squatting on the ground with red eyes, suddenly stood up and lunged at Shalou Kuer, slamming his head into the ground with one hand.

Shang You and others who came after hearing the news were immediately stunned by Wei’an’s different ferocity. When they reacted, they saw that Shalou Kuer’s friends had already pounced on Wei’an and started beating him. .

This was serious!

Krillochuan and a few others charged in and joined the fight.

The cubs were fighting!

Hearing this news, Shang Ying ran over immediately. He knew his cub’s temper well—if there was going to be a fight, there was no way Shang You wasn’t involved.

Alhandra, on the other hand, strolled in slowly behind. He knew his cub too—soft-tempered, easily pushed around—if there was anyone least likely to be in a fight, it was surely his little Wei’an.

By the time Alhandra arrived, the cubs had just been pulled apart, glaring at each other, bruised and battered, while shouting threats.

“How dare you bully Wei’an? Just wait! Tomorrow, I’ll see you at school, and every time I see you, I’ll beat you!” Shang You, with one sleeve torn off, was still trying to kick even though his hand was being held back, despite his bruised face.

“Come on, if I’m scared, I’m not a Zerg! Let’s see who beats whom!” Shalou Kuer, with an even bigger lump on his forehead, immediately retorted.

Hearing this childish argument, Alhandra’s smile instantly faded as he glanced over. His cub, Wei’an, stood beside Shang You.

Wei’an’s white, tender face was covered in bruised bite marks, some even oozing blood. His silver suit jacket had been torn off, and both sleeves of his shirt were gone. His chubby arms were full of scratches and bite marks, and his hair was a complete mess. He was biting his lip, trying hard to hold back tears.

Alhandra’s face immediately darkened, his eyes turning sharp like a hawk’s. He strode forward, scooping the small male cub into his arms, his voice filled with an anger that made all the Zerg tremble, “Who did this?”

“Waah…” The moment Wei’an saw him, his suppressed sadness burst out. He broke down, wailing uncontrollably, with large tears streaming down his face, making Alhandra’s heart ache.

“Don’t cry, don’t cry. Whoever did this, your male father will get them back for you.”

“Waaah… Brother… Brother is gone… The egg broke… Brother is dead…” Wei’an cried, heartbroken, and for the first time understood what death meant.

Hearing his words, Alhandra froze, his comforting movements stopping. Gritting his teeth, he glanced at the broken egg shell on the ground not far away.

In truth, Zerg eggs weren’t supposed to break that easily. It was just bad luck. Earlier that morning, Alhandra had switched out Wei’an’s egg for one from a winged beast that was about to hatch.

onee-chan:

hehe~ were you scared???

I remember when I first read this chapter I was crying until I see the last sentence, I was gritting my teeth then

By the way, some of you may be confused why is there suddenly another female brother. If you can still recall, on the first chapter, Quan Fan, the brother who first saw Wei’an when he broke out of his shell, is talking to an egg, telling it things like “it’s better not to come out of the shell because male father’s beating is so bad… etc”, that egg is his own biological brother from both parents. That’s the egg that now.

    Ahhhhh! That was crazy! 😱😠🫣
I hope that the egg hatches soon before Alhandra throws it away.
Poor Wei’an but also lucky switch…

Tbh I wouldn’t be glad either, the fact that an innocent zerg died is still sad and that zerg should’ve live. But I do admit that I was heartbroken when hearing that the egg broke. Just imagining a lifeless cub with a broken egg on the floor makes me want to cry and beat that spoiled male zerg. 😠
