The Secret Circumstances of the Fake Ducal Couple

Cause and effect is wrong

Jane was waiting for her meal in her room. She would have gone down to the restaurant and eaten if she could. However, she lost all her strength while fighting with Lady Themis.

〈Poisonous thing. All you have left is poison. “You have to get rid of all that poison to maintain your dignity.”

When Jane trembled but did not straighten her knees, Lady Themis was the first to raise the white flag.

However, this did not mean that education became easier. Lady Themis’s education was still bad. As a result, Jane suffered with tremendous muscle pain.

So she asked for a meal in her room itself.

Jane burst out laughing when she saw the tray Michelle had placed down on her table.

She didn’t even have the energy to smile, but when she looked at the tray, she couldn’t help but smile.

Tomato soup splashed around, messing up the dishes and bread.

She was in no condition to eat. The condition of the bread that

she brought was also strange.

Jane pressed the bread. Her fingers were pressed against the rock-hard bread.

It was bread that couldn’t be eaten unless it was sufficiently soaked in soup.

However, the soup was splashed in all directions and was spread thinly on the bottom of the plate.

If she were the Jane she was yesterday, she would have been grateful. But she shouldn’t be like that same Jane now. Her circumstances were different, so she had to show
an attitude that suited her dignity.

“It it back.”

Jane gave Michelle one more chance. Since she was a maid sent by Cain, I thought she would understand if I educated her.

Michelle went down carrying her tray without a word.

So she had hopes that Jane would be able to teach this child, Michelle, and keep her by her side.

Unfortunately for that, her hopes were dashed.

She found that the food Michelle brought to her the second time was even messier.

There was no substance in the tomato soup, the dishes were still a mess, and the vegetables in the new salad were all wilted. This time there was no bread or meat.

Michelle challenged Jane to a full-blown fight.

She wondered if there were only chickens in Hastings, and they were all anxious to fight Jane.

Jane had no strength left to fight. She did, but she didn’t want to lose.

She knew that if she took a step back, something worse would await her next. Jane raised her eyes.

She is called the devil’s daughter, and she is, Jane who overcame the grumpiness of Lady Themis. At least she had the confidence to not to lose against a maid.

“Again.”

Michelle went down again.

“Bring me some warm food.”

From the 1st to the 4th floor, Michelle went back and forth without stopping. She started to sweat through her thin dress.

“I can’t do it because it’s dirty!”

She was heading to the fourth time at the restaurant when Michelle started getting annoyed.

“She should eat whatever I give her, what’s the point? If you want to eat something, you can come down to the restaurant and eat it, right? It’s not like training a mutt! Telling me to go again, again and again!”

Michelle was fed up with her. As she did so, she almost dropped the tray.

Tomato soup overflowed from the bowl and ran like blood onto the silver tray.

“It’s obvious that she should just pick up something and eat it to survive. It’s not okay to pretend to be sophisticated.”

Michelle’s dissatisfaction grew as she noticed that there was no one around her.

Michelle threw the food into the trash can in front of her in the restaurant.

“Chef, this doesn’t suit your taste either. I guess she only ate good things. The chef’s cooking is the most delicious and good but…”

“So she rejected it again?”

Pudica, the cook, fumed when he saw the tray.

“She overturned the bowl of soup, asking how she could eat something like this.”

Michelle slurred her words and glanced at pudica.

You can just say it doesn’t suit your taste, so why throw away this delicious food!

It was an insult to herself. I can’t stand it anymore. Pudica untied her apron and threw it away.

“I can’t do this anymore!”

Michelle laughed to herself. She was rewarded for secretly changing her food and bringing it to Jane without being noticed.

Michelle hummed her tune and headed towards Jane’s room.

“What should I do, lady? The chef got off work.”

Jane’s face darkened. Michelle’s face, on the other hand, brightened.

She complained that they made her suffer and that she ended up starving.

Jane starved, but it wasn’t her fault at all. It was all Jane’s fault. If she interrogates her, all she has to do is to blame Pudica.

Michelle actually felt better.

“She didn’t eat?”

Cain, who received Nathan’s report, rubbed his forehead as if he was troubled.

“Yes. It seems like she has very picky tastes. Pudica’s cooking was repeatedly rejected.”

Cain made a mysterious expression.

Cain knew that the reason Jane refused to eat the meal was not because of Pudica’s cooking but because of Michel’s attitude.

Cain happened to hear Michel’s complaints. She dared to complain arrogantly in front of her master.

But Cain ignored it. There were few people in the Hastings family who looked favorably on Jane.

She didn’t know Jane, but she was one of the few people who had gotten into trouble by being involved with the Whitney family.

Representative victims included Cain and the Duke of Hastings.

If Cain had said something in Jane’s favor, her apparent hostility would have abated, but he did not feel the need to do so.

He knew that there would be more than one person with their enmity, so it wouldn’t end with just one or two of her.

He didn’t want to be a bother, so he invited Jane to Somnium House.

Whether it’s Joseph’s problem, the internal situation at home, or Jane’s surveillance, I want to feel comfortable.

So she had to solve these minor problems on her own.

Cain learned from a young age that it was the master’s ability to properly treat those under her.

He believed that everything that happened was because she failed to take care of her subordinates properly, who was her responsibility.

Therefore, the Micheal’s issue was something that Jane had to deal with on her own.

“Should I tell some other chef to prepare her meal and serve it? It is said that Pudica lifted both her hands and left.”

“Leave it like that.”

“Really?”

“Don’t make me say it twice.”

“All right.”

It was a little uncomfortable, but Nathan didn’t say anything about Jane.

He felt like something was very wrong, but he didn’t know what it was.

If he brought up something that he didn’t know, there was a high chance he would get scolded. In times like this, it’s best to spare his words.

“By the way, Vincent asked if you weren’t coming to the club?”

Vincent was the owner of a gentleman’s club that Cain frequented. He was also the keeper of Cain’s Black Hawk.

“I haven’t been to the club… … .”

“It’s been about a week. After you decided to marry Jane, you stopped going.”

“Why do you connect it like that?”

“Because it’s true.”

“Causation is wrong. I guess I’ll have to go today.”

Cain took his coat. Nathan followed right away.

“Are you coming home at dawn?”

“Why do you ask that?”

“Usually, when you go out, you come back early in the morning. I

think I’ll take a good rest at home, too.”

“Even if I come in the middle of the day, I won’t call you, so sleep well.”

Then, no problem, Nathan answered cheerfully and followed Cain to see him off.

Although it was late at night, the carriage for Cain was quickly prepared.

When he went down to the front door, Norbert was waiting for Cain with a face full of things to say.

“Your Excellency, I have something to tell you about Lady Jane.”

“On my way out, Norbert. If it’s not important, I’d like to hear about it tomorrow.”

Norbert hesitated and then closed his mouth. Saying he would listen tomorrow was the same as saying I didn’t want to hear it.

Norbert loved Jane, but his real master was Cain. The person he had to obey was also Cain.

Cain, who looked with satisfaction at the retreating Norbert, got into his carriage.

He knocked on the carriage door, and the coachman coolly drove away the horse.

Even the words seemed excited about going out for the night after a long time.

As the carriage carrying Cain disappeared completely, Norbert spoke in a confused tone.

“Are you saying that the master is going to be late, Nathan?”

“I thought he would come in tomorrow.”

Norbert’s face looked thoughtful.

* * *
Nathan and Norbert’s conversation was meaningless as Cain returned to Somnium House past midnight.

The gentleman’s club was a mess today. Those opium-intoxicated assholes brought lots of cups of Corti and clouded the mood.

‘Should I say they played like they would do in gentleman’s club?’

Cain shook his head and clicked his tongue.

It may sound like a gentleman’s club, but when you look at how it was run, it wasn’t really a prodigal people’s club.

It was especially embarrassing not to change the signs at night.

During the day, it’s as deviant as playing cards, but at night it’s completely different.

In the basement of a gentleman’s club, which was open only at night, deviations that ordinary people could not even imagine occurred.

The nobles were nothing more than corrupt devils wearing a noble shell.

Cain ignored such a plan. Because he was told by the queen to tolerate it. Helena did not want the nobles to become smart, except for the few whom she used as her servants.

So Cain watched the nobles’ deviation without making any noise.

But today, I became disillusioned with the nobles’ pitiful behavior.

The whiskey I liked to drink wasn’t that good, the music wasn’t fun, and I lost a few rounds of the card game.

I wasn’t particularly impressed by the woman who was constantly rubbing thier breasts against his forearms. So he returned home earlier than expected. He was going to soak himself in the
bathtub and wash off all the scent from the gentlemen’s club.

Cain quieted the attendant who was trying to announce his return home and then walked up the stairs with great strides.

Cain quickly arrived in front of the room and grabbed the doorknob.

When he thought about soaking in the bathtub, his tense nerves relaxed a little.

It was that moment.

Thud!

From the end of the hallway, he heard a strange sound that didn’t fit late at night.

Cain’s nerves tightened again.

Is it a thief?

In that case, Cain was going to take care of it before the knights moved.

He took out the revolver from his pocket and headed towards the sound, slowing his pace.

It was dark on a night when clouds covered the moon. However, there was no difficulty in discovering the owner of the sound.

Cain’s eyes narrowed. A round figure stirred in the darkness.

A thief or intruder.

Which one?

Cain was a man with many enemies. The Rose Sect designated Cain as the number one target for purge, and the Kingdom of Instan did the same.

Although they had never sneaked into my house before, I couldn’t be at ease. Cain moved quietly and aimed the gun at the back of the unidentified person’s head.

The lump, too small to be a thief or an assassin, trembled violently and raised his hands.

“It’s me, it’s me. Cain, it’s me.”

Jane’s scent passed Cain’s nose.

“Jane?”
