The Peaceful Life of a Maid Who Hides Her Power and Enjoys It

Part 2 – Episode 30

For a moment, it felt like my breath was caught in my throat.

20 years?

20 years, you say?

“Impossible! You’ve been freed from the balance, haven’t you? So why……”

“It’s because I’m not affected by the balance that it’s possible. If I turned back time this much before, I’d immediately go straight over the divine barrier. But now, the cost is just 20 years of rest.”

“No way!”

What kind of cost is this? He wanted me to be alone for 20 years? Absolutely not! I’d rather get a speck of dust in my eye and suffer trying to get it out than that! I vehemently oppose it!

“Absolutely not, Rue. Fix the time right now, quickly!”

Rue showed a meaningful smile and said,

“How about an exchange, then? To save those 20 years of mine, you completely avoid injuring your body like you did today for the next 20 years and save yours.”

I couldn’t say anything.

To conserve the power of blooming. Of course, I also wished I could do that.

But wasn’t my opponent Rein?

If I lost one of the means I could use against him, it meant I’d have to rely on others or Rue’s power.

Those who protected others inevitably got hurt.

I didn’t want to make Rue like that.

As if he knew that, Rue’s smile deepened and grew colder.

“You’re greedy, Daisy.”

At that moment,

The time that had been moving towards the past suddenly slowed down and then, at one point, everything stopped.

Then time flowed. The future that had been racing towards the past began to flow towards the future again. In the midst of the reversing current, he spoke to me.

“But don’t forget. I’m just as greedy as you.”

And everything returned to its original state, and Rein did not die.

The flames of death vanished without a trace, and my hands were unscathed.

Rue.

Turned into a stone.

“Huh?”

  *  *  *

Baron Fiora, the guild master of the <Golden Lion Mane>, closed her eyes and grabbed her head, which had begun to feel dizzy due to her immense confusion.

‘What just happened……’

At first,

When the man who climbed himself to be ‘Andert Fager’ appeared, Baron Fiora thought she was caught in a trap by the calamity Rein and was seeing things.

Facing those clear light-green eyes, Baron Fiora seriously considered whether she should pierce herself in the palm with the sword of her aide.

The negotiation had already become a ruined mess, and now the hero of the Magic war, who was thought to be dead, had appeared?

Wasn’t this a situation that was simply unbelievable unless it was an illusion trap?

“Whew, whoo.”

Baron Fiora opened her eyes again, taking a slow, deep breath.

Andert Fager still stood before her.

He had even protected the city from the flames of disaster and survived. He was even now walking towards them with heavy steps. Baron Fiora instinctively swallowed her dry saliva.

Indeed, he was the same Andert Fager she’d seen when she was young.

There was no doubt.

This man was the real Andert Fager!

‘How on earth is this possible?’

Everything was filled with questions.

How did the flames of disaster disappear? Where did that man come from? Why was that man alive?

“Master.”

At the whisper of her aide, Baron Fiora managed to return to her senses.

‘This is definitely not a trap.’

In a trap, one couldn’t even question whether the place was a trap or not.

The flames of disaster had been extinguished.

Brisher was now safe.

“…Ha.”

Like her, those who belatedly faced reality let out sighs of relief one after another. At this point, they should have been patting each other on the shoulder and praising their efforts, but no one could easily speak up.

It was only natural.

The one who had helped them was none other than the dead hero!

“Baron, what could have happened here?”

“…I’m not sure. There seems to be a lot that needs to be checked here.”

While the opponent was one thing, the fact that ‘he’ had extinguished the flames of disaster in one go had suddenly given hope to the four-year-long war.

‘The world will be noisy for a while.’

She approached Andert Fager, straightening her collar and hair. She suppressed the tension that threatened to leap out of her throat and extended her hand.

“Pleased to meet you, I am Baron Fiora. Of the Golden Lion Mane’s…”

She couldn’t finish her sentence and had to turn her head.

Andert Fager walked past her without even acknowledging her! She felt her face flush with humiliation.

He once again passed through the parted attendees of the conference and stood before a man.

Grayspear, the guild master of <Gray Spear.>

“Danahan.”

Grayspear bowed his head deeply at the casual call.

“Yes, master.”

Everyone watched the scene in disbelief. That proud Grayspear bowing his head? And even…

“Did you just hear that?”

“He just said master, didn’t he? What is this…?”

Andert Fager, who spoke briefly with Grayspear, turned his body back in their direction.

But the place where his steps stopped was not before Baron Fiora, but before the middle-aged man with squinting eyes, Berman, the guild master of the <New Magic Alliance>.

“The sword is severely damaged. Was it a treasured sword of yours?”

Berman vigorously shook his head, his face flushed red like an apple.

“N-no, it wasn’t! Even if it were a treasured sword, having it do its duty in the hands of Sir Andert Fager would be an honor beyond measure!”

The sight of Berman receiving the sword with a mesmerized look was unfamiliar. Who would have thought that stern man could make such an expression? Anyone watching would think he was in love.

“An honor, huh… You can ask <Gray Spear> for compensation. Thank you for lending it to me.”

Andert Fager seemed to have no further business.

Baron Fiora hurriedly reached out to him as he walked away.

“Wait a moment! Sir Andert Fager, please wait a moment!”

She didn’t want to ask the foolish question of whether he was really ‘Andert Fager’.

Judging that it would be foolish to waste the other person’s time or interest with such a question, she refrained.

If left alone, the man would surely disappear again. It would be daunting to track someone who had hidden their tracks from the world for a full eight years.

She couldn’t let the hero lost by the Penrotta Empire… and possibly the person who could end this war once again, leave so easily.

She wracked her brain and blurted out the best sentence she could to hold onto Andert Fager.

“Please come with us. Duke Raphael Zenail is eagerly awaiting your arrival.”

There was no one in this vast empire who did not know that the relationship between the two men was special.

It was also famously known that Duke Raphael had been bedridden for a whole week after Andert Fager’s death was confirmed. The two cherished and loved each other like brothers, so the name Raphael should be enough to move Andert.

It should’ve been, definitely.

“…”

But wasn’t Andert Fager turning his head away with a grim look on his face

‘What’s going on?’

Was this not it?

As she pondered whether to throw out a different bait in response to the unexpected reaction.

“Master, step back!”

Neeeeigh-

A horse neighed from a short distance away.

Baron Fiora, noticing the horse rising on its hind legs, instinctively stepped back.

‘What crazy person rides a horse in the city in this day and age?’

“Whoa, whoa… I’m sorry. I was in a hurry, so I rushed here looking rather threatening. I apologize.”

It was clearly time to say something.

However, upon confirming the attire and face of the other person, Baron Fiora could only nod with great embarrassment.

“…It’s alright. What brings the Emperor’s Royal Guard all the way here so suddenly?”

The Emperor’s Personal Royal Guard!

The Emperor’s Royal Guard!

A prestigious position granted only to those of noble rank, and an honorable knight order that serves the Emperor closely!

Everyone scanned the knights with astonished eyes.

Meanwhile, the knight who had dismounted from the horse politely removed his military helmet and stood before Andert.

“Are you Andert Fager, your highness?”

“…”

“Her Highness Duchess Natasha Milliorg Pentotta requests an audience with you. She also mentioned that if you refuse, Duke Raphael Zenail will come to escort you in person. What is your decision?”

Andert Fager’s expression grew even more gloomy. He stood silently for a moment, then returned after talking to Grayspear.

“Let’s go.”

“Yes, your highness. It is an honor to escort you.”

And so, Andert Fager disappeared with a depressed expression, under the escort of the Emperor’s Royal Guard.

Daisy is being referred to as your highness because Andert Fager has the noble title of Count Vladiev now.

My favorite ‘you might be crazy but so am I’ couple.

    Thank you for the chapters!
Anyone else think Daisy’s “I’d rather get a speck of dust in my eye and suffer trying to get it out than that!” is a rather low stake statement? New that Natasha figured Daisy is back with test call few chapters back.

she probably meant she’d do that for 20 years ahaha
