The Peaceful Life of a Maid Who Hides Her Power and Enjoys It

Part 2 – Episode 29

Whoosh-

The energy compressed into a spherical shape sliced through the air and rapidly ascended into the sky.

“What the…”

The terrorists swallowed their dry saliva and raised their heads to the sky, following the trail of the energy. I once again concealed my presence, and flew towards the three men standing back-to-back.

All three had iron spheres attached to their chests.

But I could tell with my senses. Whose iron sphere contained the real ‘flames of death’.

‘Only one.’

I struck the chin of the man facing me directly, and his body, losing consciousness from the strike instantly, fell back powerlessly.

“You bastard!”

I dodged the dagger one of them wildly swung in panic and pulled the iron sphere from the fallen man’s chest.

I spoke to the two who had noticeably paled.

“Run if you want to live. Three seconds. One.”

“Don’t talk nonsense, you dog! Can’t you see the flame ball on my chest! You don’t know which one contains the real divine flames!”

“Two.”

The gazes of the two men crossed.

One immediately turned his back and ran towards the distant Guild Union, while the other…

“Three.”

With a face soaked in jubilation, he plunged a dagger into the chest of his fallen comrade.

“O God of Calamity, take me to the garden of the universe!”

The moment he threw the iron sphere containing the flames of death into the air.

The heartbeat of the unconscious man stopped.

Kwaaaang-!

A massive explosion erupted in the sky.

Bright red flames began to pour down like snow.

Screams of horror erupted from all directions.

“R-run! Everyone, flee from Brisher! It’s a calamity! Flames of calamity are pouring from the sky!”

Urgent cries poured out.

Some fled in haste. Others stood still, staring at my side as if enchanted.

I condensed my energy once more and shot it upwards into the air, spiraling. The force that had been circling the sky soon drew in the surrounding air, creating a vortex-like flow of wind.

Whoosh-

The scattered flames gathered together.

Guided by the wind, the flames soon flowed down like a long, slender spiral like a snake.

And the moment that flow settled onto the tip of the sword, forming into one mass.

Sizzle.

Typically, steel did not easily melt in fire. That was generally the case.

But the flames of death seemed to possess the power to melt even the sword.

‘Indeed, it’s something to fear if it spreads to the city.’

I stared at the strangely transparent, red flames that looked like molten glass, and at the moment the sword completely melted.

I transferred the flames to my hand.

“Phoosh.”

It goes without saying that it was quite painful.

However… for some reason, my mind remained astonishingly clear and certain. This was a first-time experience.

The cause of this was clear.

My hand kept repeatedly burning and regenerating in the heat.

At the same time, the flames of death were gradually dying out.

‘As I expected, my prediction was correct.’

I could use my body to stop Rein’s flames.

The principle is that my body, which repeats death and rebirth, is recognized as the resurrection of the undead required by Rein’s flames.

‘Then… if I cut off this arm, will a new one grow immediately?’

Since my heart regenerated?

‘How far and how does immortality apply?’

Could a severed arm remain alive? Like that of an undead?

Ugh.

I placed the sword on my forearm.

Definitely worth testing. I needed to know more about my power.

However, while I’d stabbed myself before, cutting off a limb was something new.

The unknown self-harm I’ve never done before; the fear, while I pretended not to recognize it, peeked out, but I slowly took a breath with agitation.

Suddenly, my eyes met with the squint-eyed man, and he murmured as if talking to himself.

“…Why are you going to such lengths to save this city?”

With the thought that it wasn’t really like that, I swung the sword down.

.

.

.

The world.

It stopped for a very brief moment.

.

.

.

Time flowed again.

No.

Time did not flow – it went backwards.

The flames that had been crawling down my arm, greedily devouring my flesh and bones, gradually shrank and retraced their path.

The charred skin returned to its original, glowing flesh tone, and the flames that had fallen from my fingertips rose back into the air as if they had never fallen.

In that surreal scene, I was momentarily lost.

“I have no intention of letting even a strand of your hair go.”

Before I knew it, Rue was standing in front of me.

He was no longer a cat.

A stature tall enough to make me lift up my head, and a face relaxed as always. His hand rested in the pocket of his trousers, but his posture was straight and not slouched.

“You’re too selfish, Daisy. You try to use your body recklessly. That attitude is starting to annoy me now.”

Rue’s gaze turned to the small flames of death that stayed at my fingertips.

“Do you want to save the city? Do you want to save the people of this city and be revered as a hero?”

His presence, the lone one moving in the reversed time, felt like that of a god.

No, he was a god. Rue was a god, and this impossible phenomenon was…

“That’s impossible. You know, Daisy. If you simply wanted to save the city, your request would have been a little different. You could have asked me to send those followers of calamity far away from the city…”

His Blooming.

The power to turn back time.

Now that I was on par with Rue, all that had been confusing before was clear now.

“Lord Calepa has turned your body back to the past. To the version of yourself he judged to be the youngest, strongest, and healthiest.”

Four years ago, it had been the power of Rue’s blooming that had revived my body, which was on the verge of death.

“…Stop, Rue.”

The flames of death left my hand, settled on the sword, and then, like a snake unfurling, flew back up to the sky.

The flames went back to their fireworks-like form at the time of eruption.

Then they went back to the sphere.

Embraced in the arms of Rein’s follower.

The scattering terrorists, the screams of people, the successive explosions, the swarming reporters, the setting sun, the rising sun, one day, two days, three days…

Goodness! I urgently grabbed Rue’s arm in the relentlessly reversing time.

“Stop it, Rue! Have you forgotten your condition? You were asleep all day until this morning!”

Rue then smiled affectionately and clasped my hand tightly as if very pleased.

“Are you worried about me?”

“Don’t just laugh. Stop right now!”

“Why should I?”

I was speechless at his indifferent gaze.

“I told you, Daisy. I don’t want to lose even a strand of your hair. Naturally… this white hand as well.”

Rue gently kissed my fingertips. Beneath the gently open eyelids, there was a cold anger.

“Therefore, I have no choice but to eliminate the cause. Go back to the moment when Rein’s followers set foot in Brisher and send them to a far-off wilderness.”

“….”

“Or how about going back to the very beginning? Crossing nearly a century, and kill that bastard Rein the moment he was born from his mother’s womb.”

“….”

“Ah. That would be the best. If Rein had never been born… you wouldn’t have lost your heart, and I wouldn’t have had to wait for you for four years.”

As expected, he was definitely pissed.

I swallowed a long sigh and nodded.

“…Alright, let’s do that.”

Rue’s eyes as he scanned my face were narrowed.

“If you want to do it that way, let’s do it. But my conscience won’t allow killing him the moment he’s born, so how about going back to just before Rein achieved the unity of body and mind?”

Indeed, this would make more sense. I made the decision with a clear mind, but there was still something that bothered me.

“But that would mean turning back several decades… how long would you have to sleep then?”

Rue calmly parted his lips.

“Roughly 20 years or so.”

….What?

“Alright. Now that it’s decided, so let’s turn back the clock a bit faster.”

LOL Daisy getting a taste of her own medicine and Rue actually getting angry at her for once. He usually lets her do whatever she wants so this is actually really his breaking point – he can’t let her get herself hurt that bad.

I’m sorry for the late update! University leaves me little time atm since I’m still settling in but PLOM always brings me joy so I’ll always find time to translate hehe. Also, should I change the cover back to Daisy or nah? it’s the second part’s cover on the kr version for the moment too, so maybe I’ll leave it like this.
