The Peaceful Life of a Maid Who Hides Her Power and Enjoys It

Part 2 Episode 16

“I know you’re not joking.”

“Who knows, maybe not? What does it matter if it’s true or not? You can just take it as a joke. One thing for sure is that I also wish to kill him for stealing a part of you.”

“My parents are not a part of me, Rue.”

“They are. You were born from them.”

Rue, who had stood up and approached me, handed me a teacup.

“Alright… I’ll send someone to Queen Island. You should rest for a while, Daisy. That will be more efficient for us.”

I just quietly stared at the fragrant herbal tea.

I knew what Rue meant by rest.

But I couldn’t easily agree with that judgment. This was because resting for the balance of the scales was an unknown territory that I had never experienced before.

The quick-witted Rue easily noticed my hesitation.

“It’s not something worth worrying about. To use your full power, you need to tilt your scale as far left as possible. And the quickest way to be able to do that is to take sufficient rest in a place where the earth’s energy is strong.”

I slowly accepted the teacup handed to me again and asked.

“…Are you saying I just need to sleep and wake up?”

“Yes.”

“For how long?”

“It’s a shame, but I can’t be sure. If the energy of this land suits you, it won’t take more than a few days. But if not…”

I didn’t like the way he trailed off at the end of his sentence. But rationally, I thought, how long could it possibly take?

As I gulped down the lukewarm tea, a large hand swept my cheek and then withdrew. His gaze felt weighed down somehow.

“Still, nothing changes. I’ll stay by your side, so no one can touch you.”

He was rationally correct too. It was hard to move easily in my current state, so it was better to recover quickly and then act.

After Rue lightly kissed me and left the Ruem, I lay down alone on the spacious bed.

Suddenly, a young face came to mind.

The boy.

Did the boy manage to escape well?

He probably couldn’t even dream of going back there after having witnessed such a horrific scene and his home burned to ashes.

But if he was alive, wouldn’t we meet again someday?

I closed my eyes, holding on to that promise of the future.

“…Yeah. See you later, Ash.”

With the sensation of sinking deep into the ground, my consciousness dispersed far away.

* * *

Shiiiing.

With an unpleasant sound, the right side of the golden scales heavily descended. It was a movement that measured the awakening of Daisy, who was sleeping in bed.

Rue smiled bitterly as he looked at the scales, which tilted as much as he had expected.

‘Even when consumed by the blooming, she’s still not good at lying.’

The balance of a demigod is influenced by human emotions and transcendent power.

Strictly speaking, this transcendent power meant the power of awakening – it did not simply refer to magic or physical strength. If the power was used strongly, the level of the power within their soul rose, and they gradually approached ascension.

This meant that Daisy’s current state was evidence that she had bloomed.

Not knowing this and pretending that her power hasn’t been opened… she was so adorable.

“Calepa.”

A soft call was heard from outside the Ruem with the golden scales. It was Skuld’s voice.

Rue, who had been silently looking down at Daisy’s face, carefully touched her flawlessly smooth cheek before leaving the room. He walked past Skuld and asked,

“Any other abnormalities?”

“None that are visible. Just as we had roughly confirmed, the upper part of Miss Daisy’s clothing had large holes near both breasts and the right shoulder, and the lower part had fibers around the knees damaged by about half. Among them…”

Skuld’s expression darkened.

“The marks on the shoulder and left breast were quite severe. It is estimated that holes as large as an adult man’s fist were punched through.”

“You’re saying her heart was torn out.”

“Yes, perhaps… that was the reason Rein was targeting Miss Daisy.”

Targeting the heart of a demigod.

Rue slowly calmed his breathing, which was becoming chaotic.

Emotions, especially anger, tended to intensify the more they were expressed, which led to irrational judgments.

However, he could not calm down at all. When was the last time he felt such destructive chaos and rage inside him? It was so long ago in the past that he couldn’t remember it clearly.

A few days ago, Rue moved to the south of Penrotta to confront Rein directly, but Rein was not there. He then turned straight towards Daisy. His plan was to return to Calepa with her and sort out their next steps.

But what awaited Rue was a night sky covered in pitch-black smoke and the stench of burning trash.

And then…

“…Calepa, could that woman possibly be…”

In the middle of a pool of blood in a quiet mountain path lay his star, collapsed as if dead.

His feet wouldn’t move.

The worst-case scenario he had imagined was gripping his heart as if to crush it. It was a foolish hesitation, but for Rue, it was the first time in decades that he felt true fear.

It was only after Skuld hurriedly approached and confirmed Daisy’s life or death that he could hold her in his arms and return to Calepa.

Just recalling it made his heart feel as if it were standing on the edge of a cliff.

“Do you need my protection, Daisy?”

“No.”

He wished she would act a little wiser.

Unable to bear the all too human turmoil that afflicted him, Rue used his power of blossom.

At the same time, the night sky’s time spun countless times, endlessly connecting to the past, and at some point in that connection.

A shooting star, with a flash of light as bright as the sun, poured down towards Calepa.

Crash-!

Unable to withstand the heat and pressure, the walls of Calepa collapse without resistance. If left unchecked, the intense heat would melt everything in the surrounding area within seconds.

At that moment.

The world came to a halt.

Shards of glass fixed in the air as if nailed in place. Traces of a storm that had violently surged halted. Golden dust particles in the sky before they could scatter.

Then, the time in the sky began to return to its original position.

The countless shooting stars disappeared.

Night and day changed thousands of times.

Rain and snow soaked the earth.

And finally, when Calepa, which had collapsed, regained its original form.

“…If it wasn’t an illusion, I felt as if I had gone through life and death in a brief moment. Did you perhaps use the power of awakening?”

“Hmm.”

“So you did.”

It seemed there was no hiding it.

Rue couldn’t free himself from the eerie emotions that stifled him.

It had been joyous to regain his past memories and become freed from the scales, but in a situation like today’s, it just felt like an obstacle.

How many days and nights did he have to be stuck in this tormenting feeling?

He sighed already, but if this was the price for choosing Daisy, he would just have to bite his tongue and accept it.

At that moment, a familiar figure crossed the corridor opposite him.

“Urd.”

After giving Skuld a moment’s glance, he immediately bowed his head to Rue.

“A message has been sent from the Contaninos Republic to the Banahel Kingdom, Calepa. Additionally, a Level 2 alert has been issued, stating that Rein has resumed activities, and support has been requested for extinguishing the fire at Mount Aragald and pursuing Rein.”

Thack, thack. Skuld, smoothing out the wrinkles in his clothes that had been crumpled by the wind, stood beside Urd and looked back at Rue.

With a face waiting for his command.

After a long silence, Rue turned his back on them instead of answering.

An urgent call came from behind.

“Where are you going, Calepa?”

“Don’t follow me. I’ll return after meeting Rein, so respond to the Contaninos Republic’s request for cooperation as you see fit.”

“Excuse me? You’re going to meet him…? When will you return?”

Well.

“When I’ve torn off one of his arms or two.”

It was a long time after that Daisy woke up again.

-End of Part 2 Prologue-

If you’d been thinking the pacing until now was a little weird, yes, it was because the first 16 chapters were in fact a prologue for Part 2. The story has now been set up, and we truly begin from the next chapter.

Ughh but seeing them so serious still made me go T-T

If you’re wondering what the whole thing with Calepa and the shooting stars was, Rue used his blossoming powers (he has some sort of control over the stars and time itself – check chapter 90) to destroy Calepa and then turned back time (a few seconds and so). Daisy’s in some protected space within Calepa though she wasn’t affected probably (as if Rue would do that ish)

Why did he do that? He thought she died for the third time.

Personally I understand Rue I’d be mad asf too if the woman that I finally married after I loved her for 14 years (and actually 150+) who I overcame literal death and ascension to the universe to be with had her heart torn out by some weird corpse-loving pervert on our honeymoon and around the time we were going to have a big ass wedding (THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO HAVE THE WEDDING AFTER 3 MONTHS, HELLOO). I wouldn’t stop at just a arm either so Rue’s better than me fr

ALSO HE CALLED HER HIS STAR

‘There lay his star’

Aaaa
Also, should I keep it as the power of blooming or blossoming? need your opinion.
