– 2 –
I managed to adapt well to the reality of being possessed.
Anyway, it was in my novel that I wrote.
And not long after the possession, a banquet was held at the Imperial Palace.
Of course, it was the banquet I wrote about at the beginning of the novel.
I decided to change the course of events from this banquet to now and implement a plan for survival.
I was about to show Calix a dramatic reversal of my feelings, ‘From now on, the person I will love is not Leon, but you, Calix.’
However, at the banquet I attended, instead of smiling at him as soon as our eyes met, I was just dazed.
Calix is so…. Perfect!!
It’s perfect!!
The short-cut black hair, bright eyes, delicate features, and sharp jaw line harmonized mysteriously, making him look like a statue, giving a very neat impression.
His tall height and physique overwhelmed those around him.
Even though he was mostly covered by a banquet suit buttoned all the way up, I could clearly see with my own eyes that the canvas of his body was filled with fine, dense muscles.
I don’t know if it’s my eyes eagerness to see, or if it was the omniscient author’s perspective drawing.
Why is his skin so transparently white, or why his face seemed to glow, as if his skin absorbed all the light in the ballroom and reflected it back.
Touching his face would probably feel so smooth and soft, I was almost convinced of it.
His eyes and body were perfect for my taste, and he matched the settings I had written.
But…….
Something feels different?
Despite his beautiful and dazzling appearance, in my imagination, Calix was supposed to exude an aura of darkness and obsession, like a brooding figure. But, Calix in reality seemed oddly different in the atmosphere he emitted.
I set him up as a dangerous and devilish handsome man, but why does he shine so brightly and beautifully?
Of course, although his appearance was quite different from the image I had imagined, there was no change in the fact that he was flawlessly handsome.
But seriously, would someone with such looks eventually end up killing the woman he loves out of obsession?
The writer must have lost their mind.
Being obsessed over by someone with such looks would be something to be thankful for. Writing about loving another man while leaving this one behind.
It was a plot hole from the start.
As if I was drawn to a magnet, I suddenly walked into the group that Calix belonged to.
Fortunately, my brother Luke was in the group.
I bowed politely to the Crown Prince.
“Greeting His Royal Majesty, the Crown Prince of the Everetian Empire.”
Calix, who was talking with many people, turned his head to look at me and said reflexively.
“It’s been a long time…… ah…….”
Calix, who was about to say something, closed his mouth and nodded at me with a faint smile.
Huh?
What did he say?
Long what?
Are you just trying to say that you waited for me to approach you for a long time?
Why did he stop talking?
Did I approach him too eagerly and make him speechless?
Yeah, that could be it.
Considering the relationship between Kailyn and Calix so far, it was understandable if he got speechless.
He listened to people while occasionally taking a sip of the wine in his hand.
Gulp.
I watched in a daze as the wine went down his throat.
He’s overly sexy.
Once again, I thought about how I created an unrealistic character.
So, I was observing my male protagonist, Calix, and listening to people’s conversations, but I couldn’t concentrate much.
It was because of the incomprehensible situation.
The male protagonist I created, Crown Prince Calix, was not a character who would naturally converse among nobles who socialize in such a friendly manner.
Although he might instill fear and awe in the nobles, it didn’t fit his character to engage in small talk and laughter.
But now, even though he mainly just listens to it, it seems extremely natural….
Lost in thought as I watched Calix, a man started to bring up a new name as a topic of conversation.
“Prince Eden is late. They even held a welcoming banquet at the palace. It seems he’s as unpredictable as the rumors say.”
Prince Eden?
Ah… right. Today’s party was a welcoming party for Prince Eden.
He was the Crown Prince of the Darkus Empire, bordering the Everetian Empire. He was also the brother of the protagonist, Lady Estelle.
<Eden – Lady Estelle’s brother, the Crown Prince of the nearby powerful Darkus Empire, and a handsome playboy.>
I set it up like this.
As a character who serves as a link between the male and female leads, he was necessary but not particularly prominent.
There was no direct interaction between me, as Kailyn, and him.
As I recalled memories of Eden’s character setup, the man continued speaking.
“Have you heard the rumors about Prince Eden? They say he seduced a noblewoman from the Sorel Kingdom.”
There were people who had heard the rumor and people who had not, so the man seemed excited and continued to explain.
“I heard that he traveled to the Kingdom of Sorrel, he seduced the daughter of a noble family who was already engaged, and began a romantic relationship. He then received a challenge from his fiancé to a duel.”
Another lady chimed in with further details.
“Apparently, the fiancé ended up dead in the duel. And yet, Prince Eden didn’t even bother to take responsibility for the demise of that man, but rather returned to the Darkus Empire.”
People murmured about Eden’s scandal for quite some time.
Right… I wrote something like this.
There was no other intention, only to show Calix’s mental state.
Someone will ask that question soon….
As the conversation about Eden continued for a while, someone finally threw the question I had written in the novel.
“What would you gentlemen do if someone tried to steal your beloved woman? Especially if that woman loved another man, not you. I became curious again after hearing about that guy who lost his life in a duel.”
I found myself focusing on Calix’s reaction.
Waiting for the lines I had written to come out.
He was just twirling his wine glass without saying anything.
Someone pointed at the prince and asked, but I couldn’t tell who….
I couldn’t wait any longer.
I’ll just ask him myself.
“What would His Highness do?”
As I pointed him out and asked, his eyebrows lifted slightly, and his eyes seemed to widen a bit.
Was he surprised to be asked a question out of the blue?
Or is he nervous because he’s flattered that I’m asking him a question after all?
However, as if hiding his emotions in an instant, he returned to his usual expression and replied.
“Well, I’ve never really thought about the emotion of love……. I guess I have nothing to say.”
‘Shit.’
It felt like being slapped with cold water.
What?
That’s not your line!
You’ve never thought about the emotion of love?
You’re lying!
Right, you’re not very sociable and don’t talk much, but you’re a character who never says things you don’t feel.
So why are you saying something you don’t even mean to say?
‘The man who took my woman, a woman I couldn’t have… I feel like I’d end up killing them…….’
You’re the scary guy who says this, who would cling to Kailyn, even though she didn’t love you, and eventually kill her!
Why are you talking so peacefully and nonchalantly like a normal person?
Ah……. Is that it?
Has he gotten more dangerous, pretending to be indifferent?
Maybe he’s developed to the level of a darkness, given his bright expression and sociable tone?
It’s even more unsettling if he’s different from what I wrote.
Don’t do this, Calix!
I’m ready to receive your love until Lady Estelle appears.
Just express your obsession simply!
Lady Estelle would appear in the next two years or so anyway.
It’s still a long time until she shows up, so anything can happen!
I carefully watched Calix, cleverly masking his darkness and obsession with his sudden sociability, even smiling.
But what’s really strange is that this gentle attitude of Calix seems familiar to others.
Could his personality settings change for no reason?
No, no way!
Get a grip!
Why would it change for no reason!
Even if he acts all normal, I’m the one who created him.
I can’t be fooled.
I thought I should continue to observe him with an eagle eye and keep a closer eye on him.
He swirled the wine glass in his hand and took a sip.
Just as the wine was going down his throat, he suddenly turned his head and made eye contact with me.
‘Gasp!’
The look in his eyes froze me for a moment, and he gulped down the rest of the wine.
He drank while looking at me?
Was he quenching his thirst for me with wine?
How could that be?
But why do we keep staring at each other like this?
Your excessively beautiful eyes and face are too burdensome to keep looking at.
I wanted to turn my head because I felt like I was being sucked into the abyss in his eyes, but I couldn’t take my eyes off.
At that moment, Calix said something to me.
“Lady… do you have something in mind…?”
Yes. You look handsome.
Very handsome.
I was like a sailor enchanted by the voice of a siren, utterly captivated by his face and unable to comprehend what he was saying.
“Lady Kailyn Brockburg?”
Ugh!
Only when he called my name again did I finally snap out of my daze.
“What did you say?”
Oh my, I must be crazy.
The protagonist, who holds my life in his hands, is speaking, and even if I listen carefully, it’s still not enough…
“I asked if you had anything to say to me.”
Huh? Something to say?
From me to you?
Not from you to me?
What would I say?
“Don’t kill me, please.”
That’s just one thing, but I can’t say such a thing.
Why would he suddenly ask that?
Ah!
Maybe because I’ve been sticking around and being nice to you, you’ve gotten some hope, but you’re afraid to express your feelings?
So you want me to tell you if I’ve changed my mind about you?
Yeah, that could be it.
Since Kailyn hasn’t even looked at you until now….
Yeah, if your crush suddenly changes her demeanor, you might wonder if she’s really changed.
Unless she tells you herself.
I decided to balance my understanding as a writer with Kaylin’s survival instinct to put her mind at ease.
“Ah, Your Highness! I think love that’s so persistent and obsessive that it puts your life on the line can be good.”
I don’t want to be stabbed by you.
Don’t try so hard to act like a social animal, you can just stick to being darkly obsessive as in the original.
I’ll accept your love, all of it.
But at that moment, I saw Calix tightly clenching his left hand.
Clutching his left fist was a habit that came out when he felt anxious, uncomfortable, or angry, with negative emotions.
Why is he suddenly like that?
Is he tense because he’s in front of me?
Whoa… whoa… calm down, calm down!
But fortunately, he quickly relaxed his clenched left hand and said with a grin.
“Really? Lady Brockburg has a peculiar taste. Hoping for that kind of love, huh.”
What?
My taste is peculiar?
What are you talking about?
It’s something that suits your taste!
There was a Japanese drama from the early 2000’s (I think) in which the protagonist lived in delulu land, she always imagined everyone falling for her from the smallest things, I don’t remember the name but it was funny and the main actress was called Becky… The way the MC here describes what’s happening is similar to that other character’s thoughts.
she is the writer bit she seems so foolish enough to fall in love with just a face.. I hate it when the mc always talks about how handsome the ml like that is the only thing good about him…
she knows that she has to survive but constantly in a daze because of handsome face like her life is nothing compare to that face…
though I found a very pretty and mesmerizing beauty, I wouldn’t give my life for her/him.. I will love to see them but that just it.. just to be admire not to give your soul
