The Male Lead’s Father Refuses to Break Off Our Engagement

MLFRBOE Chapter 30

Chapter 30

Sierro was born for a simple but not light reason.

‘I guess he really cares about his younger sister.’

Evelia looked at Samuel and thought blankly, but Samuel said as if he had read those thoughts.

“Aria will like it when she sees the young lady. Ah, Aria is my sister and she’s not used to meeting people because she’s so weak, but she gets excited when she meets new people.”

“Is that so?”

“Yes. And then, I get the feeling that the young lady would be kind to the children for some reason.”

At those words, Evelia immediately thought of Ruth, but she denied it.

“Not really.”

I had no confidence in handling children. Still, she intended to be nice to Aria if possible.

‘Because our Ruth will fall in love with her later.’

Evelia didn’t realize that she thought of Ruth as ‘our Ruth’.

In the meantime, the carriage that had been running hard arrived at the residence of the Marquis Denoa.

Samuel stepped out of the carriage first, gracefully, and casually escorted her in.

“Then let’s go in.”

As the two went inside, a young man in a butler’s uniform made a puzzled face.

“Master, this person…”

“My special customer.”

From the word ‘customer’, Evelia realized that the family also knew that Samuel was the head of Sierro.

In particular, the butler politely bowed toward Evelia at the word ‘special’.

“She will often come to see Aria in the future, so take good care of her. Her name is…”

Samuel laughed mischievously at Evelia.

“You can call her, Rose.”

Evelia let out a small sigh.

‘I have no intention of hiding that Rose is a pseudonym.’

No matter who heard it, ‘Rose’ sounded like an alias to anyone. Her pseudonym, Rose, must have been taken roughly from her pink hair, like a rose.

When they were left alone, Evelia rolled her eyes at Samuel.

“Isn’t that too insincere? Rose.”

“Why? It suits you, Rose.”

He laughed, pointing at Evelia’s hair.

“Perhaps I should give you a pink rose next time we meet, Miss Rose.”

It was strange that I didn’t hate that smirk. Evelia purposely rolled her eyes at Samuel.

“Stop talking nonsense and let’s go see your sister.”

“I will do as you command, my lady.”

Samuel bowed once and opened the door nearby.

They passed through a nicely decorated parlor and opened another door to a bedroom.

On the large bed visible through the crack in the open door sat a girl with silver hair just like Samuel’s, holding a teddy bear tightly.

I recognized her as being about Ruth’s age, but she was slightly smaller than Ruth because of her weak body.

“Aria.”

“Brother!”

As soon as she saw Samuel, Aria jumped out of bed. She ran so fast that the nightgown she was wearing fluttered in the air, and the child ran into Samuel’s arms.

Evelia observed Aria.

‘Cute.’

Aria was described as calm and lovely in the original novel. However, she, like Ruth, was still young, so her personality was quite different from the one portrayed in the original novel.

‘It’s lively rather than calm.’

I felt like she could get along well with the shy Ruth.

“Aria, you can’t run like that. What if you have trouble breathing again?”

Surprisingly, Samuel soothed his sister in a friendly way. It was a 180-degree change from the cold, calculating way he’d been observing Evelia.

“By the way, who is this person?”

Aria hid behind Samuel, perhaps feeling ashamed of wearing her pajamas.

Evelia jumped Samuel before he could say that strange pseudonym.

“Evelia Venion.”

I had to reveal my identity to get Aria and Ruth to meet anyway. Samuel raised one eyebrow as if it was okay.

Evelia shrugged her shoulders to mean that it was okay.

Arya said and opened her mouth.

“If you are Evelia, is your nickname Eve?”

“Huh? Ah yes.”

Evelia nodded her head. No one called her ‘Eve’, but Eve, short for Evelia, was right.

So I wasn’t too embarrassed.

However, Aria’s words that followed were really embarrassing.

“Can I call you Eve sister?”

Apparently, the presence of Samuel made Evelia feel like an older sister, even though there was a huge age gap.

‘Sister….’

It was an unfamiliar name. Obviously, she had a half-sister before she died, but she had never heard her sister called her sister before.

The titles that her sister calls So-yoon are always ‘over there’, ‘hey’ and so on.

‘Not bad.’

I nodded my head in approval, figuring that if she wasn’t Sister, she’d have to call her ‘Miss Eve,’ which would be awkward in its own way.

Aria asked again, still sticking her head out from behind Samuel.

“Then Eve, are you my brother’s girlfriend?”

The response came first from Samuel rather than Evelia. He coughed violently as if he had been possessed.

Aria patted Samuel on the back calmly, unlike a child who declared a bomb.

“Brother, are you okay?”

“You, cough, where did you learn that?”

“From the book!”

“Do books say things like that?”

“Of course! There is nothing that is not in the book!”

“I see.”

Samuel, who was positive, suddenly made a serious expression.

“Anyway, you shouldn’t say that to anyone. Excuse me, Lady Venion.”

Aria pursed her lips in displeasure.

“But father said that brother should get married soon.”

“Why are you talking about that again?”

“Pfftt.”

At the conversation between the two siblings, Evelia eventually burst into laughter.

This is why it was amazing that Samuel, who felt a sense of distance, was embarrassed by the bold Aria, because they seemed like realistic siblings.

Arya pursed her lips again.

“Then why is Eve here?”

“To take you to the doctor.”

“Doctor? no.”

“Why? You need to see a doctor to get better.”

When Evelia asked curiously, Aria sighed.

“I mean it hurts. They do something weird every day.”

Evelia held out her pinky finger.

“It won’t hurt. The doctor you’re going to meet this time is a kind older sister.”

“Sister? Not a grandfather?”

“Yes.”

Aria finally came out from behind Samuel and faced Evelia.

“It’s not really hurt, right?”

“Yes. Sister… promise.”

“Okay.”

Aria flicked her hair over her shoulder naturedly.

“But I can’t go like this, so I’ll change my clothes first.”

Evelia replied in a voice mixed with laughter.

“Okay, I get it. I’ll wait.”

Aria disappeared into the bathroom with the maid, saying she was getting ready to go out.

Samuel, who escorted Evelia to the drawing room, pretended to wipe off the cold sweat that hadn’t even started.

“I’m sorry, lady. Aria’s a late bloomer and she’s been sick, so she couldn’t tell the difference between words she could and couldn’t say…”

But Evelia wasn’t offended at all.

“Kids are like that. Wouldn’t it be even weirder if the kids weren’t like that?”

Rather, she liked Aria’s childlike nature. Doesn’t it come out with innocence like Ruth?

“As expected, the young lady is kind to the child.”

“As an adult, of course you should.”

“If only there were more people like Lady, the world would be a very nice place.”

Samuel laughed bitterly and whispered as if telling a secret.

“Sometimes, there were some members of the doctor who wanted to do strange experiments with Aria. Fortunately, it was not a big deal thanks to knowing and blocking it in advance, but Aria became reluctant to meet another doctor.”

This was a story that didn’t appear in the original story. In the original story, there was only a scene where Aria said she was glad that Erin was a female doctor.

‘I thought it meant that it was fortunate that she was also a woman.’

Evelia listened to Samuel in silence. Hearing this personal story made me feel very close to Samuel, whom I had only met twice.

“So, when she meets Miss Launer later, she may run away or make a fuss about it, so I ask for your understanding in advance.”

“Miss Launer is a very kind person who loves children very much. She will definitely understand.”

“Thank you.”

As Samuel smiled, the door opened. Aria, dressed in an outing dress and bonnet, ran inside.

“I’ve got everything!”

Evelia rose from her seat, as she held Samuel’s hand.

“Well then, shall we go?”
