Side Story Chapter 1 : Julia and Lionel

“You’re Ryan, right?”

Lionel, who was napping in a tree, was awakened by a cheerful voice from below. He glanced down to see a platinum-haired girl standing there, smiling at him.

She looked familiar, but we were not personally close. She hadn’t even said her full name.

He didn’t want to be involved with a woman who was not related to him. Especially if she confessed to him.

Lionel’s goal was to stay quiet until he graduated.

He closed his eyes again after waving his hand as if not to bother him.

“Wrong person.”

“But the description seems right.”

An unknown girl gave him his personal information. What department he was in, what grade he was in, who his roommate was, and even what classes he was taking now.

He didn’t think she would go back easily.

The cat Trika, who had slept on his stomach, climbed to a higher branch, apparently noticing his troublesome situation.

‘It’s bothersome.’

Lionel jumped from the tree. He could see the girl in front of him widen her eyes in surprise, but he didn’t care.

“Yes, I’m Ryan. Why are you looking for me? ”

“I’m Julia Adelhard.”

Adelhard, it was a name I had heard. In fact, it was even stranger for an imperial to not know the name. Aside from the fact that Lionel was not an imperial.

“So?”

“Pardon?”

“So what’s the matter?”

“Oh, so…”

“With all due respect, if you’re planning on making a confession, I’ll decline in advance.”

The girl, Julia blinked with a brief look and laughed.

“You dumped me before I could even confess? I’m sorry, but I didn’t come here to confess to you, senior.”

Her voice was so light as she replied. Lionel realized she wasn’t really interested in him.

Perhaps it was new for him, but he was suddenly interested in Julia, and he studied her closely.

A slightly red purple eye caught his eyes. Like a puppy, the round eyes were clear.

The eyes, the expression, and the gesture.

It showed that she was raised with love.

A girl who must have lived a life that was the complete opposite of his harsh life.

Feeling a little uncomfortable with her, Lionel said rather bluntly.

“If you don’t confess, why did you come to me?”

“I heard that senior from the Kingdom.”

Why did that word come out? Lionel frowned slightly. But Julia is still smiling.

“”So? I’m hoping you can keep it simple.”

“That’s what it is.”

A puzzled look crossed Julia’s normally sunny face. Lionel’s mood sharpened as he sensed the strange aura.

“Is there something wrong with me being from the Kingdom of Cesia now?”

Lionel was currently a year and a half away from graduation.

His father, the King of Cesia, had sent him to study in the Empire to grow up, but Lionel wasn’t the kind of boy who would listen to him.

He was quiet in order not to reveal his identity as much as possible, but he wasn’t particularly diligent in his studies.

He kept his grades up just enough to barely graduate. Even now, he was skipping classes and cheating, but he was counting the days in his head.

For nearly five years, no one interfered.

Until Julia Adelhard’s appearance in front of him.

As the owner of Trika, one of the waters divine from the Kingdom Cesia, his aura was quite different from the normal student.

His aura should have made Julia’s skin tingle, but she didn’t react.

Instead, she rolled her eyes and smiled again.

“No problem. There is no such thing at all. As you know, the dean is encouraged to exchange between the Kingdom and the Empire.”

Either she’s dull, or she’s strong enough to withstand his power.

I don’t know which one is, but the aura is gone. Lionel softened his aura.

“Then?”

“Professor Delan asked me to do him a favor: make sure to bring senior to his next class.”

“And If you don’t?”

“Um, it doesn’t matter, but I think it would be a little difficult for senior.”

“Me?”

“Professor Delen said:”

Clearing her throat, Julia imitated Professor Delen’s voice.

“Lady Adelhard, go get Mr. Ryan. It doesn’t matter if you persuaded, dragged or threatened him. But if he still doesn’t come, he will fail this semester. ”

Then she ended up in a loud voice.

“I mean… ”

“Shit.”

Lionel flicked his bangs back roughly.

As he said, he was keeping the minimum requirements for graduation, and no professor was involved in it.

As far as the Academy was concerned, Lionel was simply a royal citizen studying abroad for academic exchange between nations, a student who would leave the Empire upon graduation.

There was no reason to bother with Lionel when there were plenty of students to keep an eye on.

But only one. Professor Delen kept paying attention to Lionel.

Last semester, he even declared that ‘I’ll let you off this semester, but next semester I won’t be able to give you a grade if you continue to behave like this.’

At the time, he thought it was just an offhanded warning, but it turns out he meant it.

While he was nervous, Julia calmly continued.

“Professor Delen also told me that you don’t seem to be adjusting to the academy, and he wants me to help you.”

“With what?”

She shrugged her shoulders.

“Helping senior adjust to the Academy.”

“I’ve been at the Academy longer than you, so who’s helping who?”

“I agree with senior, but I can’t help it because it’s the Professor’s words.”

“I’m going to do whatever I want. The professor is not a god, and you don’t have to do everything he says.”

“Well, I’m the student president this year, in case you didn’t know.”

“… You?”

“Yes, me.”

Julia smiled again.

Lionel then realized.

The woman standing in front of his eyes is not actually dull, but is clever and more noticeable than anyone else.

“Class starts in ten minutes, and I’ve been doing a little research on senior, and if you get a failing grade in Professor Delen’s class, you’re not going to graduate normally. You’re going to have to stay at the Academy for at least another year, are you okay with that?”

“… Shit. It can’t be okay. ”

Lionel didn’t like living in the Kingdom of Sesia, but this academy with its rules was even worse.

You have to rot here for another year. It’s ridiculous.

“Then go. Professor Delen will be pleased.”

“You.”

“Not you, Julia.”

Julia, who was taking the lead, turned back and looked back at him. The warm sun of spring was down on her platinum.

The red lips like cherries draw a soft line in Lionel’s eyes.

“You can just call me Julia in the future, and you’re welcome. ”

“That’s not what I meant…”

But Lionel never got to finish what he was going to say.

Trika, who was now at his feet, meowed at him to wake him up, but he couldn’t shake himself out of it.

Maybe it was at that moment Lionel realized he would never be able to get away from her.

*****

Lionel didn’t want to be involved with Julia Adelhard. It was because the relationship would not benefit each other even if they became close.

Besides, Julia was the eldest daughter of the Adelhard Duke. The peaceful and quiet academy life could be ruined if I got entangled for nothing.

But contrary to Lionel’s wishes, Julia seemed unwilling to leave him alone.

–Senior, are you skipping class again? Even if it’s not Professor Delen’s class, you can’t skip it!

She followed him wherever he went and nagged him.
